Since the Dornian Heresy's spin on Guilliman is basically that no one ever talked him out of Imperium Secundus, there's an opportunity here to be cheeky by calling the secessionist Guilliman's technologically advanced Ultramarines "Secundus Space Marines".
@@Crushanator1 Perfect sense. To keep things clear, they would call the original space marines "Primaris Marines". Now that we're joking about this, "Primaris vs Firstborn" is kind of a "Team A vs Team 1" thing, isn't it?
There is only one thing I would change about this model: Adding more black. It's a really cool model but the only thing that screams "Iron Hands" is that there's that one black shoulder pad with their icon on it. I think painting more black on the plates and a healthy sprinkling of Iron Hands iconography would really push it to "Yes, this was once an Iron Hands Astarte."
Would LOVE to see what you woud do with an Lion Herersy Vulkan. He ate an Avatar of Khain and became a minor warp god of the forge, overthrowing Vashtorr.
Always love seeing your Alt-Heresy conversions. With these new plastic Mechanicum bits though, I was wondering if you'd consider making an Iron Warriors/Vastorr Daemon Prince. I think it would serve as a nice compliment to this wonderful metal behemoth of yours.
Seriously. I love how the complete absence of xenos-allied astartes in the lore implies that Space Marines would rather serve the forces of Hell than defect to any aliens.
Ever since first looking into the lore I thought a Necron-allied Iron Hands splinter would be REALLY cool, and after seeing this? I feel validated lmao.
As a fan of the Slaaneshi White Scars thematically, I've never seen a really inspiring take on their bikers. I'd love to see what you could come up with by pulling in their raiding Mongolian styles combined with the princess of excess.
You could kinda run a dornian heresy iron hands themed army in horus heresy if you play blackshields and use the oaths that turn your marines into robots and the one that gives them xeno weapons
I have two ideas, you're free to use either. 1) Perturabo Daemon Primarch fused to a Shadowsword tank. His personal transport was a heavily converted Shadowsword named The Tormentor, so seeing him fused to it after riding it into battle for 10 thousand years would look pretty cool. 2) Corvus Corax based on the model for Magnus the Red. Black armor, white/grey skin. Even better, since Corvus's low states he's mutated from his time in the Warp, you can use the same model for the main timeline AND the Dornian Heresy.
A Dornian Heresy version of Roboute Guilliman after he returns to Ultramar Segmentum to start an alternate Era Indomitus, I think would be cool. Especially given all the technological advancement and xenos reverse engineering that Ultramar Segmentum has done up to the 40th millennium.
Not Dornian Heresy, but since everyone is talking about how the Necromunda Orrus armor looks Necronic, I’d like to see you build one with only Necron parts!
Id love to see a Dornian Heresy Ultramarine. I feel like theres something you could do with some of the Primaris Inceptors mashed up with Crisis or Stealth Suits
I personally would love your take on a corrupted Vulkan. I’ve seen him depicted as a massive daemonic dragon, tho I have no idea how you’d turn that into a model. My thought was maybe using Angron as a base, but you’ve already done that with Russ, so I’d be interested to see your take!
Always love these conversions, and Iron Hands are one of my favorite Loyalist chapters! And Necrons are one of my favorite Xenos species too! Awesome stuff all around.
Bloody gorgeous. The Dornian Heresy has long intrigued me and this is a great example of the concept. I'd like a bit of glow in that ammo belt though, the back is lacking some of that green pop.
I'd love to see you take on the Dornian Heresy Ultramarines. Maybe a Terminator wielding a Tau flamer, fusion blaster or ion gun and a Votann plasma axe for melee?
Seriously cool conversion! I've been wanting to make an Iron Warrior Daemon Prince who's mostly mechanical and I love the idea of using this guy as a base!
This is incredible. I've just made my first standard unit of Dornian Heresy Iron Hands as a little tester. This couldn't have come at a better time because once the main unit is done, I'll move on to making this! Cheers Pete
I think some Dornian heresy Ultramarines would be interesting seeing as they aren’t chaos corruption either but I’m not sure what you’d use to get the more progressive look of the legion in that setting.
This is a cool idea to do for a Vashtor aligned Iron Warrior Demon Prince. I do feel the arms are in the wrong sides. The designed for the blades to work properly would want them mounted on the bottom side of the arm. Yes, yes, power weapons don’t need gravity to add to the cutting force, but to the eye, the curves still track with modern day axe blades, which would use the weight of the arm to help assist gravity carry the blade they. The way they are now is not really usable for how the arm looks like it would swing.
Would love to see a base marine/necron! I've been thinking about making my necron killteam based on the Dornian Iron Hands and your guidance would be amazing
Pete, How about a Kreig Space Marine unit? Due to their fearless and devout service to the Emperor to repent for their rebellion, the Golden Throne decreed they shall be allowed a Marine chapter… the Weimar Teutonic Order. Colors… grey, green, white, black
I'm kinda curious: forget analytics, forget the algorithm, forget the price of components, forget time limits... what is the conversion you always dreamed doing, but never pulled the trigger on? As for what I would like to see you tackle: I remember reading that the White Scars turned to Slaanesh in the Dornian Heresy and that the Khan is now a centaur-like demon primarch. I'm curious to see how would you tackle that.
4:13 this gives me some heavy Contemptor vibes. Especially the head appearing to only be there for aesthetic reasons i.e, being a simulacrum instead of the biological head itself.
Some interesting kitbashing I've done is combining Necron and Tyranids. The lore in my head is that one of the Necron Dynasties captured some tyranids and experimented on them to see if the Tyranids could be used to reverse the biotransferance. Instead of reversing it in the best case scenario it fused necron and tyranid together. In the worst case the hive mind took control of a Necron and escaped
since the Iron hand basically want to be robots and the Necrons have been trying to transfer their consciousness into Space marine bodies, why haven't a group of them gone rogue and tried working together to essentially swap bodies? i'm sure there would be a member of the Mechanicus who'd lend a metal clawed hand as well.
Incredible. My only note is that for the glowing orbs i apply progressive white glazes towards the center and then cover with tesseract glow, i think it gives a really nice effect.
Wow Pete. Great conversion and loved the paint job. The Dornian heresy seems to give you a lot of freedom for artistic licence. Great video and congrats on another amazing conversion.
It’d be pretty awesome if you did a Roboutian Heresy model one day, it’d be cool to see Slaaneshi Sanguinius, Khornate Dorn, or whatever the Deep Warp daemon Corax becomes.
having gone over some of your older videos (especially the kitbash/conversion ones), it's really cool to see just how much more impressive your already good painting skills have gotten over the last couple years. unrelated to compliments, i wonder how you'd handle a 1 hour - 10 hours - 100 hours challenge video for a theme of kitbashed/painted minis
I've been thinking of picking up one of these to kitbash into an Excindio, and I'm definitely going to be taking some inspiration from this if I do. Absolutely stunning conversion!
I’ve found that isopropyl alcohol (somewhere in the 70-80% range) is an acceptable substitute for Micro-Sol, if anybody is wondering. It’ll be pretty aggressive on the decal, so you might want to cut it with some water, but even at full strength it didn’t touch any of the acrylic paint I had on my model.
