- Police Scotland have said they would not be taking action over Harry Potter author JK Rowling’s social media posts about transgender issues.
The writer, who has become an outspoken critic of the Scottish Government’s stance on trans rights, declared “freedom of speech and belief are at an end in Scotland if the accurate description of biological sex is deemed criminal” on X, formerly Twitter.
The Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act - which came into force on Monday - has been met with objections from freedom-of-speech campaigners, including X owner Elon Musk and Scottish journalist and broadcaster Andrew Neil.
TalkTV’s Kevin O’Sullivan and Alex Philips discuss the matter with The Sun’s defence editor Jerome Starkey.

I currently can't join a gym. I am an SA survivor and I've been told by all the gyms I've contacted that they are allowing self identifying trans women into women's locker rooms. You don't even have to present as female - just self identify. So, I'm expected to share a locker room with men.

At our local bus station however, I called my 12 year old grandaughter back out of the ladies when seeing her being followed in by a bloke in a dress. Yes, you may call me names for doing that but it's preferable to seeing her very distressed by this unwarranted closeness of a strange man.

You're not alone thinking that. I've already had it out with supporters of this stupid law (yes, they exist) and one says that there's a *separate* law for women, but of course they can't explain why it's not included in this particular amendment to laws that already existed.
The Koran says women are worse than dogs and to kill all the dogs so I recon Muslims don’t like women at all.
Women don’t actually exist in human terms in Islam. So I think this is why the confusion over ‘what is a woman’. With testicled penis endowed men in women’s prisons locker rooms loos etc This law would effectively make the female a criminal if she were to report rape - just as happens in Islam!

A Blasphemy Law that covers ALL religions?? As a practicing Pastafarian who believes in the Great Spaghetti Monster in the Sky (Jah Pastafari) will I be protected under Blasphemy Laws against those who throw scorn at my particular religious beliefs?? 😏. All religions including those that people don’t like (Scientology, Jedi etc) would have to have the same protection under the law as Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism etc. Otherwise what is there to stop one or more of these religions being legally derecognised in future and we are left with only one protected religion?
