He knows how to relax in a simple way. Campfire and a cozy tent. Not the healthiest eater though. But I could watch these simple camping videos all day.
You were correct about being in Cumberland Country. I love maps. Moon was corn/harvest moon. Also, last super moon of 2023. Hot chocolate for me. Love a burnt hotdog.
That was a cool shot of the moon. I think you could make postcards out of some of the pictures you take and put them in your shop. Great shot of the fire through the tent door too.
I like hot dogs a little black and I'd choose the mint tea. I don't care for camomile. That is one sweet campsite. Looks very level. My trailer is self contained so I could go there, unless its only for tents. I'm going to check on it. Now I'll continue watching.
According to an old book I had as a kid, American Indians made an extract of mullein that they would use to stun fish. They'd dump it into a pond or whatever, and it would knock out the fish, which could then be scooped up by the Indians.
Horsekiller Road is named after my grandfather-in-law. Not haunted or anything, but he was driving a horsecart up that road, and the horse had an accident and broke its leg, so he, in the custom of the time, shot the horse. We have a cabin up that way that he and his friends built in the 40s or 50s. No ghosts though - never seen no ghosts - makes me a skeptic.
Great post, thanks for sharing this. Also I think those who believe in the Lord would best not perpetuate the notion of ghosts and ghost stories, you know? Maybe it's just me but that disparity always rubbed me wrong. I guess one has to chase higher subscriber counts to be able to quit the day job😑
@@Curious1304 Is belief in the Christian God and belief in ghosts incompatible? I happen to be a flawed Christian, and a curious skeptic respectively. I have never seen any evidence personally, but humanity has had ghost stories since recorded history, and it's intriguing.
not sure, good question- I guess it is down to denominational or personal interpretation on what the good book says. I think some Christians believe in a spirits journey etc
When I was very young my grandmother would harvest Mullen leaves and heat them and lay them on an ill persons chest to break up chest congestion. She grew up somewhere she referred to as Savage Mountain and her family used traditional medicine. Unfortunately her knowledge died with her. I do appreciate the medicinal plants videos.
@@SolaceForTheSoul123I didn't know the correct masculine word to use,so I said pretty. Its nice,no matter what word is used. I really don't think Cliff would mind my calling it pretty.
Got to wake up, you heard it, rip a couple 41:41 of what... whoal shots. You know, 35:33 way far back up north in Pennsylvania is the area up there called The Austin Dam Ruins, When the Austin Dam in Potter County burst on September 30, 1911, it lead to massive devastation downstream and the deaths of at least 78 people. Camping video possibility for you to check out making.
I think he was at the Austin Dam. When I was young, my dad belonged to a hunt club with a cabin in the area, and we'd visit the dam ruins, before they made a park.
Hey Cliff love the videos! You can still primitive camp outside of established state forest campsites for free, provided you arent remaining in one spot for more than one night. You may even be able to camp in those campsites without a permit, but you'd have to relocate if people with reservations turn up.
No, you need a permit for these designated sites no matter what, whether someone is there at the moment or not. Yes, that is true, backpacking (primitive) is still free, but people bend the rules by essentially roadside/ car camping and saying it's primitive. Everyone be sure to contact the forest district office if in doubt. www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateForests/FindAForest/Michaux/Pages/Camping.aspx
@@Matthew-yw2sd a permit would only be required if DCNR actually patrolled any of these established campsites. I (and many others) would rather not pay nearly $17 per day to a corporation ($6.50 processing fee on a $10 reservation) and government for the use of a public resource. Anyways there are much better hiker-constructed campsites nestled away along most major trails.
@@kevinwilson9317 The fees go to maintaining the sites, and paying the rangers, researchers, and, yes, administrative personnel. The PA State Forrest system is top-notch with the limited funds available to them. The Public Good of the Commonwealth!
I never go camping without a firearm. Good to have incase you run into coyotes or weird people especially when you’re by yourself. I’ve never ran into anyone weird camping ever though thankfully. Most people outdoors in the deep woods are great people.
Loved this video. Where are all your flashlights? You don't want to fall. I always loved fall camping although this year has been cold and wet. Another award winning video.❤❤❤
Going to Pine grove furnace campground on Sun. Have been to the CCC camp/ interrogation center/ church camp but haven't explored the off main road trails.
Nice video, Cliff! I would've chose the mint! Love those! I have a cup of mint tea every night in the fall and winter! I don't really like to camp a whole lot, but when i do, i like to bring a pan of rice krispy bars and top them with sliced banana for breakfast! So easy and so good! 😊
Great video cliff! Always underestimated the PA state forests but I fell in love with them through these camp sites. Check out Buchanan and the sideling hill spots and Forbes state forest sites. Thank you as always!!
I like a nice singe on the dog, mustard is good, a little hot sauce is better. Don't forget to toast the bun. Oh, and some onion if you have it. Yum, yum.
Fantastic video thanks Cliff. I feel there could be a big foot but hope they never found, humans arnt all good people. Your camp area was lovely. Thanks for the stories. Thanks for taking me along. Please take care
Cliff, I know this video is old... but do you remember what way you came into the state forest to get to that site? We will be camping there and wanted to know how rugged and or how bad the road inclines were to get there, since I will be pulling a camper. Let me know sir... thanks for all your content.
Careful in those woods, I saw a guy with no shirt and just a big rubber Halloween mask in the road. Somebody trying to be scary to folks I’m sure, but it was unsettling that someone was out there in the dark, hopefully just a young guy partying with friends…
Traditionally, there weren't bears south of the valley where Carlisle sits, but north of there, yes. However, bear territory has been expanding southward lately.
I watch all of your video's and enjoy them. You are what I would call a Yuppy camper. Why don't you cook a big ribeye steak on that fire. Drink a beer and have a shot of bourbon. Smoke a cigar. You won't need sleepytime tea to turn in for the night. When you wake up, cook bacon, eggs and homefries in a cast iron pan. NOW you're camping. P.S. Stick to the state forests for camping. I could tell you love it already.
I also like maps!
When you are off on your own and have no one else to depend on, it is wise to be armed, have a few days extra water, good first aid kit, etc.
I like maps and I loved that view of the moon with the leaves in front of it
I heard there was a strange black goat menacing the area.
Stay safe Cliff.

I always like everything about your hikes, and campings, and always I'm glad you show us the map/maps. Thank you.
Camping is a lot of fun, although I am partial to camping by the lake so that I can wake up and fish. Oh, and cheese dogs are the best.
Things got so busy in my life, I haven't had time to camp this autumn, so thanks for lettings us join you around the campfire.
I love your camping episodes.. you know how to live..
I like mine not crispy but turning dark outside

Your camping companion should be Mr. Samuel B. Colt.
Agreed. Also bring his friends, Smith & Wesson.

That's a really nice, secluded area to camp! Ridge Rd. and Stillhouse Hollow Rd. used to be great hunting until they clear-cut half the mountain away!

Yes, in western PA mainly in a town called Evans City
