I don't want to pour out that first butter that vegetables were sautéed in, so I'll add the 1 1/2 cubes of butter, vegetables and flour together and let them cook (adding a little water if needed) till the vegetables are almost done. Then I'll add the milk, etc. My husband's been asking for this chowder and I know he'll like it!
This was an excellent cooking video. She paced herself perfectly on preparing this. She only talked about exactly what to do and want to add and then kept her mouth shut and continue stirring. Most cooking videos the chef continues to shoot their mouth off about God knows what and I find it very distracting. If not annoying. this video was quiet and well informed cooking video.
Oyster stew was popular during 1940s and 50s. Oyster at that time wasn't a rich luxury food it was eaten by blue collar workers as rich people didn't like oysters.
