Alright you Agonist fans, lemme break this down. Agonist = Still sick as fuck. Alyssa left for Arch Enemy, where it's nothing but growls and screams. Agonist was all of that, plus her melodic musical voice which kicked ass. Now that another bad ass has stepped up, Vicky, you all should be grateful and stop complaining about the new singer, and be glad the band still goes on to make this amazing shit.
See here is the thing, there are things called opinions and personal taste. So no, not everyone has to like Vicky or be grateful she joined.
For example I don't like her vocals at all, to me they sound barely even mediocre,like the kind of vocalist you find in one of the masses of generic Metalcore bands.

Oh, and personally I like the voice of the original singer better. It's a matter of taste. I'm not grateful about the new singer and I'm not complaining. I just don't care about the band anymore. It's the same with Led Zeppelin without John Bonham or Queen without Freddie Mercury.
My opinion is thus in most cases; if you're changing the cast, change the name of the play.

Her screams remind me a lot of Arch Enemy's old vocalist, which is funny since Arch Enemy's new vocalist is The Agonist's old vocalist.

I am a huge Agonist fan, with either singer. I am also a huge Arch Enemy fan as well, dating back to Johan Liiva, before they had a female singer. So, that being said, different line ups give opportunities for new and different sounds. I love it all.

Freaking love this. I still love Alissa, but Vicky's voice brings something new to the table, cause her voice, whether screaming or singing, are different than others. Her singing doesnt have that pure bell voice of opera, and her screaming isnt as hard and dry. It's awesome.
I must say. I'm very impressed with Vicky's vocal range. I've seen a few of her videos and she has blown me away'
Much respect for Vicky, I've been listening to The Agonist since their first album came out. Yeah with a new lead vocalist things are going to sound different but the true fans will support the band no matter what happens

She has only been doing harsh vocals for like 2 years!! Amazing talent, Vicky is only going to get better and better from here on forward! The Agonist is still strong and I can't wait to see them live this weekend!!

Ive known Vicky for four years since she was still performing with a cover band in Romania, she was amazing then and she's even better now. So glad to see her achieving her dreams :)

Well, we've heard Vicky sing Alissa's songs live. I'd love to hear Alissa sing this one, just for comparative purposes.
Unfair that she can sing clean and harsh vocals so well. She can do so much different genres with a voice like that.
Alissa= better growls
Vicky= better cleans
Vicky growls is good. But her clean vocals is really much better, fits perfectly in melodeath
Vicky can also do her cleans live where Alissa can't. Vicky is a lot better live in general...unfortunately the band sounded better with Alissa.
7 years later, coming back to this, I have to admit - this is the best song The Agonist have ever written alongside Revenge Of The Dadaists.

The vocals r absolutely identical. I don't care about looks. Awesome band. Also happy for the Archenemy as well, their new album is just the best.
To all those people that are complaining about those that don't like Vicky as much: Not everyone can like her better. I have respect for her. She can growl great, sing great, and overall is a great vocalist. I think the Agonist is lucky to have her. But I will always like Alissa better. If you like Vicky, that's fine. I respect your opinion, but I would like the same respect for liking Alissa. I mean we're all entitled to our own opinion. I love both of them and I think they fit the band very well

Initially i was also sorrowful that Alissa left The Agonist, but i found this song now i'm content, this woman can do clean singing plus Growl, she does an exceptionally excellent job. These metal chicks can all growl, scream and sing identical, it's still the same drummer, same guitarists, same bassist, the instrumentation is still brutal, it's the same band as in the past minus the previous vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, it's only the vocalist who was changed. You old school Agonist fans want to act like Alissa is dead, she's in the band called Arch Enemy, she only does growled vocals for them, but in a live Arch Enemy performance i heard her clean singing shine through for a few seconds in a chorus. For people who want Alissa to do clean singing, send Arch Enemy messages on their social media accounts, if enough fans demand it they'll let Alissa do clean singing combined with her growled vocals.

Love the new vocals and I do hear the change in instruments with her instead of Alissa. Thing is, I think it works really well. I'd rather when a new vocalist comes in the music changes. I loved Agonist when Alissa was in it. I loved Arch Enemy when Angela was in it. I still love Arch Enemy with Alissa in it and I still love The Agonist with Vicky in it.

I liked this song. Cool intro, good follow up. And Vicky's cleans sounded beefy and bad-ass here and then delicate or elegant there. Great!
The only reason I ever listened to this band was because I liked Alissa's vocals. That said, the new singer is great but I always felt the rest of the band was very average. Alissa sounds so much better with Arch Enemy than she ever did with The Agonist. I still have the same feeling here. They found a worthy replacement for sure, but musically it still has the same issues they had before. The Agonist was always good but never great for me.

"The Tempest", "Thank you, Pain", "Globus Hystericus"...these tracks are real bombs. I still remember when i heard you for the first time, it was "The Tempest". It gave me the creeps.
Alissa got invited to front Arch Enemy, and The Agonist said they didn't want to be her side project so decided to move on without her. I miss Alissa as well - she doesn't get to exercise her voice nearly as much - but I think Vicky's doing well so far.

Yeah the thing is she she doesn't have a big professional musical background as others. Usualy singers get better as their voice develops more over the years in a band.

I love both Vicky and Alyssa.. Honestly, I kind of love listening to the new material of The Agonist. I think Vicky greatly fits the band.. She's super talented.. I also love Alyssa in Arch Enemy (Not that I didn't like the old line-up).. I think I love both bands with their current line-ups more than ever.. They both took a completely upgraded direction

For me, Its not even that the singer changed. The entire band sounds different now, and that's what kills it for me. Just listen to the change from Prisoners for example to this. It's not bad, but it's just way too different.

People blow the "crazyness" so out of proportion, listen to Shining-Blackjazz or Sikth-Trees are Dead and Dried Out, Wait for Something Wild, and tell me how "crazy" The Agonist are.
That's why I don't care if they go a little catchier with the songwriting, because simpler songs with good memorable hooks are going to hold my attention a lot better for a band like this, when there's so much avant-garde/experimental stuff out there that The Agonist were never even on my radar as being a band that did stuff that was unusual.
Having said that this is the weakest song I've heard out of their new material, the best I've heard so far is 'Perpetual Notion'
