He first had to fill the "Special meter".
That wouldn't have done it. A bunch of bails and a grab wouldn't fill the special meter. No matter, you don't have to be special to do a 900 if you get enough air you can just use the triggers or stick to rotate enough to do a 900. Special 900 is cooler looking though, especially in the new THPS1+2 coming out in September, it looks like the real 900.

@Mannie Illescas You are right. I am not fat. Most people think that I do sports on a regular basis because I have the right body shape. But I am really a weakling. Last week I was doing sports for the first time after 7 years (I am 32 now). What can I say? After 15 minutes I nearly passed out and I had to stop (and they needed to bring me something to drink). That was quite emberassing, but I have learned my lesson. And now I am doing at least a little sport every day.
I am starting with running at my local street. Only a tiny bit. But I hope that I can restore my condition piece by piece.

I don’t even watch people skate but I did play the Tony Hawk game as a kid. But it’s something so legendary about how he landed that and then kicked his skateboard off when he finished and slid on his knees down the ramp and took off all his gear that just made it seem so epic and accomplished.
This shows that you can never stop fighting even if your body slowly deteriorates you need determination above all else.

My favorite thing about this clip... and there's a lot to love... his kid is there, he's 48, it's his last one, he battles for it, toughs it out through the heavy slams, all good stuff, but my favorite thing about it is, in between all the attempts, it is just silent in this warehouse. All the hype and the fanfare from '99 X games, the contests, the medals won, all over and done with...and it's just him and his board and a vert ramp. And it still means everything to him to make it.
