Our church has a 8x14 black beauty, and I've been tuning it pretty low to get that fat sound, do you think that if I tune it as high as you do that we can still get the fat sound?
Great question! Depending how you tune each drum in general you want to match the pitch you have on the batter head for the reso head. The only one that's different is the snare reso head. You want that tighter than your batter head.
Thanks for watching Tim! Yeah you have to be mindful of that for sure. A lot of the times folks in churches are trying to change drum heads on a Sunday morning before church at least that’s our case. So having that drill can speed up the process of removing the drum heads so that one can spend more time on tuning the new head 🙌🏾
The bit about the drill was sick (intended) - this video is so informational! Great work!
yess!!! thanks for watching! appreciate the encouragement!
Yes bro spot on. I absolutely love tuning and feel it’s something all serious drummers should be able to do. Nice job breaking it all down!

EXCELENTE!!! MUCHAS GRACIAS!
Bro why are those snare lugs squeakin’!?
Probably need a bit of Vaseline. Been a bit since the last deep clean
16” and 18” floor toms is the voice of God! 👍

the sound from your good plans drum tutorial is pretty much what I'm aiming for
Fatter if you tune up, muffle and loosen wires
but what about all the reso heads ??

Those snare lugs need some grease. Also your Star pattern is a bit off.
thx for watching! we are looking forward to watching your drum tuning workshop soon! 🤩

Yo bro! Yeah they need some grease ha. Also can’t wait to see your tuning video! 👊🏽
The drums are nice, but where's the cymbals for the drums.
Don’t ever forget the direction of the drill. Not worth it. Also, using two drum keys on opposite sides of the drum works much better than this.
