Do you think slipping the knee line out would be easy during the transition? Also are you thinking the tap is coming from a rotational breaking mechanic. I couldn't tell from the video
As long as you keep squeezing your legs slipping out is quite hard. Tap is coming first from the pressure on the inside of the foot and then it will go to the knee.
What makes this illegal in IBJJF other than the reap, because adding rotational pressure to straight leglocks like the Aoki Lock variation of the Ankle Lock is legal under the current rules? Shouldn't we be able to do this from an outside leg entanglement and call it a knee bar or foot lock, because a heel hook has a strict definition?
Hi Daniel, awesome video, lots of thanks. I have 3 questions: 1. Did you get the outside variation to work (yet)? 2. Do you think the inside variation could break the foot/ankle before breaking the knee? 3. Do you think this will become the dominant grip for the inside heel hook from now on? (It certainly feels easier to grab and harder to slip to me, but I don't know if the breaking pressure feels equally strong yet.)
1. Haven't tried it successfully yet, but training partners have. I don't do too many outside leg entanglements myself, but I might give to 50/50 on the secondary leg variation another go. 2. YES. Hurts like hell on the foot. 3. I think they will work together. When people know I go for Mikey locks they start to give away heel hooks more easily.
very good content! you humbly break down all the pre existing similarities and then the move. Good on the TH-cam algorithm! hope you get more traffic!
Great video!!!

Ah I just watched Mikey's new video with Bernardo and his answer to 2 is yes, if the guy points his foot you can break that instead of the knee.
