I really dislike that the Doom Scythe's Death Ray is Heavy D3, it has to move due to Supersonic, yet it has no stabilization for the Death Ray so its always gonna be -1 to hit. Seems like a bit of an oversight.
The Necron Overlord's buff that adds 1 to hit causes the Tesla weapons on immortals to cause 3 hits on 5's and 6's. Worth noting as it greatly increases damage output. But again, no ap hurts.
I hope the rulebook states clearly WHEN to apply modifiers like you mentined. It is a BIG mathematical difference between saying '6s cause +2hits' or 'roll and apply +1 to all 5s and then all 6s cause +2hits'.
ictaris I'm sure I'm correct in this case. My Will Be Done does not modidy the weapon or ballistic skill, but rather states it adds 1 to the rolls. So suddenly nearly Tesla and snipers are much better. 33% chance cor a sniper to inflict a Mortal wound?
The rulebook states that tesla happens on a 6+. The + implies that the to hit roll could exceed 6, which is only possible due to modifiers to the to hit rolls.
Sorry for being that person, but at 7:25, you pointed out that crypteks increase the reanimation protocol by +1 (normally a 4+), and that the max was 4+. now, I've read through the index and rulebook, and haven't found anything that states it stops at 4+. if someone could clarify, that'd be great, otherwise, I'm pretty sure he's wrong on this.
I just wish Necrons had options. Their wargear isn't varied and they don't have many varied answers to the various Armies of the Imperium. They ain't bad, but they ain't great.
In 7th they were great, and from what I've read they look great in 8th. Although never played a game of 8th with them. Certainly agree about their wargear though.
Necrons strength comes from reanimation. Now you have to wipe out the unit or they will just keep coming back. Before you got one chance to save them but now you can just keep rolling reanimates every turn until you wipe them out. I've been playing Necrons for years, its hard to wipe out a unit entirely.
I think, there is a massive fallacy that many necron players are going to fall for. First instinct is to make huge blobs to get the most out of RP but 20 warriors are still 240 points, all being made pretty much useless when in combat (overwatch only averaging 9 hits/5 wounds/3 going through in best case). And if you walk out of combat you have few other units to shoot the assault unit with. BUT 4 10men squads: you walk out of combat and 30 guys can focus fire and then countercharge. Remember that a 5+ RP is not the world. In the end you will still have lost not only 66% of the models and the opponent has effectively neutralized 240 points for an entire turn. And warriors will suffer against dedicated CC units even with "My Will Be Done" and the like.
I agree. I also roll with Ghost Arcs. I have never seen the use of having the large blobs. That being said, The Ghost Arcs cost a few more points. As do the Tomb Blades. I'll be getting my book tomorrow, Thursday latest, so I will figure something out soon. I might just run a Monolith now, since they can't be one-shot by Land Speeders or Crisis Suits.
i played a game on tuesday night vs a chaos plague marine list. 2 blobs of 20 warriors with crypteks and an over lord for 4+ WBB and hitting on +1 and a res orb. 40 shots rapid fire hitting on 2s. then 40 shots htting on 6s for over watch. then survivors attack back on 2s. sure they are S4 but they last. They lasted a long time and tarpitted assault units so i could cap the objectives and win. 20 S4 T4 hitting on 3s or 2s in combats not useless. Hell you could make a long line and deny a massive area of the board as a tarpit to strategically buy time. With the morale tests, you need to really get punished to worry about it. I hated 7th ed but this is bringing back warriors as the backbone as they used to be.
Is it correct you can use, for example, the rule to set up units on the home world for later deployment via monolith, to deploy less units and grab the first turn? The way the unit rules read to me is that you select and set them up off table as part of your standard deployment one at a time, so this tactic won't work. Seen the former interpretation a lot so not sure if i'm misunderstanding :)
Iain Cloude I think your right... putting a unit in reserve (or whatever terminology they're using) counts as a deployment for the purposes of setting up.
Destroyer Lord doesn't come with a phylactery stock, it can take a a phylactery OR a res orb, phylactery is better imo at 15 pts because res orb being 1 use for 35 points.
the reroll morale of the lord seem to be actually good, even with Ld 10, it will not be rare to loose 7 or 8 warrior warruor in a turn, it can be 7sefull to keep your unit alive to use reanimation protocol the turn after. I think I will run every blob of warrior with a lord equipped with a reanimation orb and a cryptek, to maje them as resilient as possible.
Str 5, AP -3, DMG D3 on destroyer weapons with two shots each seems really strong vs Terminators and Primaris Marines. These guys have multiple wounds and we might see a ton of them since theyre new and fancy.
Has anyone else noticed that the voidblade and hyperphase sword both have the exact same stats yet the void blade is 3 points more? Why bother giving the overlords or lords the option of changing to one of them?
soo reanimation protocals means that everyturn the amount of slain (this turn or in general???) u roll a D6 and on a 5+ u recover a wound or return a slain model ?
It means: at the start of your turn you have two squads that were originally 20 warriors, Alpha and Bravo. Alpha is at 7 models at the start of your turn, Bravo at 15. For Alpha you roll 13 D6s. For each 5 or 6, you add a model. For Bravo you roll 5 d6s, same applies. Say for Alpha you get 4 warriors back and in the next opponent turn, they don't lose a model, so they are still at 12. Now at the start of your turn, you roll 8 d6s for Alpha. So basically you can roll reanimation for each model every turn unless the unit it belongs to has been completely wiped out. As a Nec player, I like the system. Opponent gets to shoot models while the Necs still retain their staying power. How frustrating was is for an opponent to shoot all his stuff and kill 5 warriors. Btw: units don't flee anymore. At the end of the turn, you roll for battleshock. Losses + 1 d6 compared to leadership. Excess result is additional models removed. E.g 8 Warriors destroyed + 1 d6 (say "4") => 12 > LD10 of necrons => 2 additional warriors are removed. (Can still do reanimation for those though)
Against all but terminator save the Obelisk will put out more wounds on average due to the low BS of a Monolith. If Monoliths had a 3+ BS they would be monsters, but the 4+ hurts them a lot. Also the number of units with 'Fly' is large and it does not matter if they are currently 'flying'. Daemon Princes with wings, Assault Marines, Hover Vehicles, nothing is safe from an Obelisk's wrath. Oh and a Obelisk can advance and shoot making it a 8"+D6 movement unit for -1 to hit, it is a sneaky surprise for sure.
I thought he was saying ghost weaponry at first. Really confused for a bit. Looked it up. I had always that it was pronounced "g-o-z" but it is actually "G-ow-s." Interesting.
The destroyer lord is not a big deal because they reroll to hit rolls of one anyway, preferr- - united in hatred. If it was to ALL failed hot rolls it would make it worth it.
I dont see how plasma is a hard counter to necron tanks other than that its impossible to block it only does 1-2 damage per shot so you mean to tell me I need to make entire squads of plasma and just scratch it down to nothing? Thats a little broken and impossible to build against. It also makes taking anything but hard troop spam a terrible choice because you will never do anything to that with tanks other than maybe predators or something with an auto cannon i guess.
in the last edition plasma weapons are 15pts a piece. Which is to say the 4th most expensive upgrade for marines. to have in a power level game its easy to spam them but in matched play you'd have to shell out a lot of points for them. Though I am considering being a cheese monger and taking a diemos predator executioner which has the big plasma cannon, but until I get my imperial armor index I won't know for sure how expensive they are.
Hold on.... you're saying we have to pay to get your interpretation of other people's opinion on how to play the game better?.... Maybe if we knew your record? Maybe if we knew if you were any good with them?
So, sound issues, stuttering, editing issues, floating camera syndrome....as well as lots of little screw ups in info. Going to have to give this a 4/10. Needs more practice and time to get comfortable with the camera and oration.
Can’t understand what the guy is saying since he mispronounces every word and doesn’t appear able to read or speak properly. You should have re-recorded parts of this.
First video I've seen from you, and I don't think I want to see another one again. You make so many speaking mistakes, and while you have shown you can edit two clips together when things get too bad, you don't bother to re-record any of your mistakes. Further you make constant generalizations that are patently false, such as "everything I didn't already point at has Reanimation Protocols, except for the C'Tan." Canoptek units do not have Reanimation Protocols. Further, you claim that "all the vehicles" have Quantum Shielding; the Monolith does not. PLEASE consider scripting out what you're going to say, before you say it.
seems to have some sound issues at 15:30 mark, losing sound and coming back bit louder
Sounds like the wireless neck mic went out and it switched to camera mic then back again.
I really dislike that the Doom Scythe's Death Ray is Heavy D3, it has to move due to Supersonic, yet it has no stabilization for the Death Ray so its always gonna be -1 to hit. Seems like a bit of an oversight.
like moost of the flyer weapons and especially the rift canon
Yep, easy enough to FAQ it...just make vehicles ignore -1 to hit for heavy weapons (should really only apply to infantry anyway).
The Necron Overlord's buff that adds 1 to hit causes the Tesla weapons on immortals to cause 3 hits on 5's and 6's. Worth noting as it greatly increases damage output. But again, no ap hurts.

I didnt object, but yeah. With the wording 'add +1 to hit rolls' now the snipers can be very scary.
snipers are only on 6+ wounds, not hit. but yes if you can have +1 to wounds ... it could be very scary x)
You going to do a Astra militarum faction focus? Good videos guys keep em up

Is resurrection orb once per game or once per orb holder per game? Can you benefit from multiple orbs?
21:49 looks like a monolith conversion :D
the description of the lych guards is a bit broken as you hit the mic. Just a heads up :D
The "new" guys are just super chill and cool :)
Been waiting for this review for weeks! So excited to see MWG Rock the 'crons.
fantastic audio work guys....buutifaaal
will a harlequin faction focus come too?
I think you might be confusing "points" with the new "power" system necron warriors are still actually pretty well costed IMO
Dose tecnomancer stack?
the spider can heal itself now right?
The Overlord's +1 to hit is pretty entertaining with the tesla weapons
Great video, and Great color scheme!
Hey guys I'm a necron player any advice??

Actually destroyers are a very old model. They were always very good in 4th and 5th ed.
please do one on space wolfes
Has anyone else noticed that the voidblade and hyperphase sword both have the exact same stats yet the void blade is 3 points more? Why bother giving the overlords or lords the option of changing to one of them?
Hey I am happy they are not spamming rules only to promote buying models at least for now.
What about Imotekh?
soo reanimation protocals means that everyturn the amount of slain (this turn or in general???) u roll a D6 and on a 5+ u recover a wound or return a slain model ?

From watching the Necrons vs Dark Angels,,, If i ever end up against Necrons,,,, im gona bring couple plasma cannon devastators!
Just getting into warhammer. Love the videos!!!!!
the symnaptic desintigrator has never been a gaus weapon.
not every vehicle has quantum shield, canoptec units dont have RP.
Like Necron Warriors, most Tyranid units went down in points across the board.
trascendent c'tan and nightbringer both do -4 AP d6 damage.
Not everything gone from 2 to 3 wounds. Nobz are still 2 which is irytating.
i believe its crypteks give a 5++ not a 4++
so the unit and/or units within 3" of the cryptek for the technomancer???
Lords will allows you to fail failed morale Tess 7:55
of course the army I play has a bad faction focus video
I thought he was saying ghost weaponry at first. Really confused for a bit. Looked it up. I had always that it was pronounced "g-o-z" but it is actually "G-ow-s." Interesting.
yes

in the batrepp the plasma obliterate the barge...
but it was 10 plasma guns tho
and a plasma cannon
I don't know if that is too expensive for marine statndas but it shatter to pieces the shitty barge, aginst a usefull vehicle that would be priceless

NEEEEEEEEEEECRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONS
clink!
Let's play a 500pts game. Here's my list:
- Tesseract Vault. :P
lol actual faction report that's like saying a gun is fully semi-automatic lol
I’d rather have wraiths over bikes; they’re sooooo much better
Finally :)
So, sound issues, stuttering, editing issues, floating camera syndrome....as well as lots of little screw ups in info. Going to have to give this a 4/10.
Needs more practice and time to get comfortable with the camera and oration.
F I N A L L Y
Not Miniwargaming's best effort.
lol this hull video i have heard cullon not once (except in the intro)
Can’t understand what the guy is saying since he mispronounces every word and doesn’t appear able to read or speak properly. You should have re-recorded parts of this.
OMG necron warriors in 7th edition were 13 points !!!! not 14 !!!
Maybe learn the army first. This was not beneficial.
This is not a high quality video. it feels like a practice run. A little disappointed to be honest
WHERE ARE MY SPACE WEREWOLF VIKINGS!!!
Panther Hardraag mating with their wolves. sick fucks
