  • A powerful and advanced keychain/EDC flashlight with over 1,000 lumens, the Nitecore TUP is well-designed but somewhat outdated. It's a pretty cool little light, but it's held back by a couple major flaws.

One of the best flashlight ever in my opinion. I have tons and this is one of my favorites/most used. I bought second one when I lost my first one after a couple years of use. Nitecore makes the best simple bright small flashlights on the market.

Good to hear about the battery life. That's where it would need to excel considering the performance of modern 14500 cell lights such as the Sofirn sp10 pro.

You are dead right about integrated batteries not being for this enthusiast. I also tend to want a little more out of my UI these days. Andurial will ruin a man very fast. Love me a smooth ramp. That little screen is super slick though.

Huh haven't seen this flashlight before, looks nice but idk, I still think I prefer others for EDC, mostly because of the batteries, but it'll make a nice add to the collection haha

the tup was my first flashlight that i would call "high quality" by then and it did everything i wanted and needed, mainly it can get me through a whole night with enough light to see where i was going, from that day on i lever bought another light that cant handle a reasonable output for atleast 10hours, i really dont care a lot about brutally high outputs that burn your hand after 30seconds, i just want my 100-250lumens but the whole night long and to Reliable.

I feel like the TUP might be more usable than the T4K I mean the 1000 lumens lasts a lot longer than the 4000 lumens. But the TUP is so outdated like you say. And the 4000 lumens.. what a party trick.

Thanks for the video as always. I respect your analysis of these things & I have a slew of lights & devices using micro USB, so I'm curious -- a literal liability, as in, the ports wear out quickly etc, or because it's one more charging cable to keep on hand, or what?
    Thanks!

    • @LuxWad
      @LuxWad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Micro-USB is notoriously delicate and unreliable, it easily breaks. Meanwhile USB-C was designed to be significantly more durable. There's also the fact that it's simply newer and better, meaning it will give the product a longer lifespan. And yeah, carrying extra cables is annoying

My camera + lenses are linked in the description of the videos :)
I use a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K with macro extension tubes and a vintage 35mm f2.8 Auto-vivitar lens with a M42 > MFT adapter. The whole setup was about $40, I found the lens at an antinque store. The other shots are filmed with a Meike 25mm T2.2 MFT Cine lens

Have one of these and I like it. As you say the battery is the killer. Who knows if it will work in 5 years. I need to source a replacement. Bought my dad the T4K and it's a beast, but the ten seconds is a bit crazy of a turbo time. A "turbo-lite" (bit of an oxymoron haha) step down, would be cool if at all possible. You should cover the GT Nano with a 10440 extension tube next, if you have one or can get your hands on one. Would love to hear your thoughts on it, since it is my favorite light of all the lights I've seen or held. The titanium is *chiefs kiss*. Heck you can borrow it, if you are interested in doing a video on it. Hmu.

I have had one for a while and I did use it for a little bit but I found it to small I guess mostly I often put my flashlight between my chin and chest and I guess it's not very comfortable there but I never really had a problem with battery life or anything I guess it would be good for someone with more limited pocket space than me and that's saying something but I guess people that wear tight pants but a have been carrying a sofirn if25 one of the smallest 21700 cell flashlights

After watching your video , I don’t know why I bothered, all you seem to do is mock the light, whilst I am a enthusiast and I buy a lot of lights the nitecore Tup is a awesome light great features lock out if in demo mode is too good even if it was to be turned on will not go to turbo and even if turned on will switch off in 30 seconds plus the candela on this pocket light is almost double with some lights that have rechargeable replaceable batteries. This is why you don’t have many people looking at your reviews, basically if you don’t like the light don’t review it. This light is kick ass .

battery life is great, build quality is not good. i have wuben lights and olights and they are light years ahead of nitecore. my first tup the lense melted , the second i got the screen was dim and you couldnt see what it said , the 3rd one was fine but by then i was kind of on the fence to trust a light that out of 3 only one was okay. its not water proof and gets dust inside easily so it effects the screen. if the quality was better this couldve been a perfect light.

My phone is Micro. My tablet is Micro. My desk fan is Micro. The Bluetooth accessories I use are Micro. My powerbanks are Micro. And not just me, that goes for all people I know and all I see in shops. Literally the only things I see that use this type-C malarkey is extremely bougie phones, and without fail, the owners get desperate when running short on battery because they didn't bring their own chargers and _literally no one_ has a charging cable that fits their devices.
For my reality, that's unicorn enough for me.

    • @LuxWad

Fair enough. Where do you live? In most places in the US, by this point, that's an increasingly rare scenario

Brazil, but this applies to at least South America as a whole. It's the same thing in Argentina, in Peru, Colombia, you name it really. I wager the situation in inverted in the US as you said, Canada, Europe and parts of Asia.
I _wish_ type-C wasn't a unicorn around these parts, FWIW. C connectors seem sturdier with less fine metalwork going into the plug, and it's dual orientation so you don't have to keep spinning the cable around to fit it.
