Happy to read that! I’d love to return to all seven islands to do a visual update series someday with a recommended route.

@@tristanbogaard did you see Lina Bo's recent route/challenge? We're hoping to find a bit more peace in La Gomera than Tenerife and Gran Canaria. The other islands that seem a little more effort to get to also look very interesting.

No casual cycles in La Gomera, always means going seriously up. So as an aspect of the holiday a few cycles is great if you’re able for the climbing, but definitely not for a pure cycling holiday.

hi, great series, gomera was one of the hardest places i've ridden, great if you love climbing (which I do) but riding light not touring with luggage...

Great video. Amazing scenery but my original plan to bikepack around La Gomera has changed! Maybe I'll just do one day of hard climbing then stay in a B n B to recover🥵

Such a beautiful landscape! Almost mythical ! ( Although not ideal for cycling 😬). Because of the deep gorges the people have developed 'Silbo' , a whistle language system to communicate with 'neighbours' at the other side of the gorges . Silbo Gomero is recognized as Unesco cultural heritage .

Another great vid guys, that's some serious climbing for sure ... I'd imagine doing all them climbs, you'd be wishing for some flat rides for the next few days, but them 2 small island you are doing , I'd reckon there the same or worse 😉👍🍺🍺

I'm sure you recommend la gomera😅😜 specially after the long effort climbing the hills, therefore you're accustomed to the mountains.
This is a lovely video again.

What remains is finding a good solution for the frequent rain showers... ;-) I find it very uncomfortable to sleep in a wet tent in wet clothes.

How about you ride in Taiwan? The mountain roads there are also very very steep.
    Lovely footage from your drone.

Would love to go there but the humidity is a concern. I'm not good with humid heat... my brother went there though and told us that it's pretty good for cycling!

A very natural video - it's a pleasure to watch and no marketing in between the lines - just honest opinions. We thought cycling in Cuba was steep... now heading off to La Gomera with our 10 months old we definitely not going to do any cycling there at least not until she gets older and be able to cycle herself! hehe ps. what weather app was it in your video? Is wild camping by good and nature respecting people acceptable over there? Thanks, David

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for typing that out! You have quite an adventure ahead of you I hear - La Gomera isn’t for the fainthearted when it comes to cycling, a lot of climbing, and very steep. Not much cycling mentality. But I’m sure that when your child gets older and you put her on a bike early enough, she won’t have a problem with it. We use regular Apple weather, and wild camping can be done with a permit that’s a little difficult to obtain if you don’t speak Spanish. Local municipality will sort it!

Thanks to you both, now I know which Island I definitely have to visit with my bicycle, as a forest lover! Quite stunning, the lush exuberant scenery on La Gomera with its rich ecosystem. For me, some of the other islands you showed are too barren and dry. I have classified them all based on your videos ;-)

Note, luckily I have an e-bike, with midmotor section - which the best motor type for climbing. I am even in the process of buying a speed-ebike (pedelic) - so one that has a top speed of 45 km/h, and lots of torque/power. Exactly, among other things, for this reason. I know climbing can be so hard that it slows down your travelling progress too much (for my taste), I have done it in Norway. Again thanks for the info.

great presentation for the islands well done....often see overburdened cyclists giving it all up those mountains, later on my home see them red and sweaty under a palm tree map in hand …..so good advice unless you´ve the do-nut mans number.or e-bike...next time you visit i invite you to camp on our food forest project finca meme`.(el jorado) just to the right from where you pointed down barranco de chejelipe.perfect spot for a base camp, and lots off mangos!

On La Gomera is not much flat. It always going up and down, and some parts are 15% and more. Gomera is not realy made for biking!
