I totally agree with you bcz not many people are relaxed at the exams and thats why the nervousness gets them down . But this young man did a great job, his way of talking in a formal way did absolutely help him to get a higher score
This guy calm me down faster than anything else, i was so anxious about having to face the examiner but this guy's attitude make me feel like it's only a simple conversation between friends
He doesn't use a lot of high level vocabulary but the basic vocabulary that he knows spans a wide range of topics and he uses them well. So it's probably a better strategy to focus on using what you know well and give priority to expanding your vocabulary to cover more of the topics they often test you on rather than finding more complex synonyms for what you already know.
with band 9.0, he had a speaking test so simple but it is definitely it is worthy for him. He spoke fluently, with natural pronunciation like an indigenous people and how to he tell the story was very interesting and we can see that in part 2 of the test. With a simple story that a cat is stuck, he made the story more fun and that is amazing.
He is UNIQUE! Watching this video made me realise how easy the test is, You do’t need to be formal, just speak naturally without thinking about making mistakes

As a native English Speaker, I loved watching this guy's test! It didn't seem like a test at all. He just seemed like a high school boy talking casually to his friends or co-workers. Definitely, he went with the informal tone judging by his choice of words, expressions, and posture. I would say Native Speakers do talk like this with friends and in relaxed settings, but not in job interviews or professional presentations. I think he said his town of Dunkirk in France is on the English Channel? This might mean he was either schooled in English or is bilingual... it definitely shows that he has been speaking English for a really long time. I know it looks like he is speaking so effortlessly and flawlessly, and that shows that he's had years and years to master the language and grow up immersed in it.

I got 9 on my first shot many years ago and I remember how idiotic the format of the speaking test was compared to the oral component of the French equivalent (DALF). Apparently, nothing has changed. I was trying so hard to engage the examiner in a meaningful conversation because the questions he was asking were so incredibly stupid and boring. At some point, I even had to stop him and say "Did you even hear what I just said? Three seconds ago I said I hated big cities, and now you're asking me what is it I like about big cities? I feel we are having a very Dadaist conversation." The whole situation sounded surreal because he just wouldn't move an inch from the script that he had in front of him. At the end of the test he explained (off the record) that he had to stick to the script because otherwise I might have been disqualified and he would have lost his licence. I accept that some degree of standardisation is necessary in the case of language tests, which otherwise would be way too subjective, but there has to be some flexibility as well. The French test was incomparably more adjustable and imaginative: the examiners had a general framework within which we had to keep the whole situation, but, other than that, we moved along topics much more spontaneously and creatively, which made the test sound closer to a conversation that educated French people are likely to have in real life.

Probably he did, or probably he did an exchange and his english improved a lot. I am Argentinean, I moved to the Netherlands on an exchange with a British family. I really felt lucky for the examiner to meet so many people in life, whether it's a job or a test.
He probably grew up speaking both French and English (I bet some family members are American cause that'd explain a lot hahaha) and has been speaking the language for years because I assure you that isn't a level of fluency you achieve in the matter of a couple of years. His accent is also on point so for anyone wondering the fact that he grew up in French does not automatically imply that he only speaks French/his whole family is French as that is most likely not the case. Anyways, I'm taking my test on April 23rd (it's now March 10th) so with me luck. I need at least a 7 to get into uni aaaaaaaaaaah if I fail my life is literally over.
Probably he did, or probably he did an exchange and his english improved a lot. I am Argentinean, I moved to the Netherlands on an exchange with a British family. I went from speaking no english to get level B2- C1 in 10 months also with youtube and podcasts. Let’s spread good vibes better!. Good luck with ur exam! And keep practicing! 🕺
