    On the face of it those people look poor in comparison to people in the slums of the UK, but it's not relative.
    I guarantee that these people are happier than most of us, and they understand worth.
    We're a materialistic throw away society who values the wrong things.
    I've spoken to quite a few foreigners who thought coming to England would be great, and at first it was, but they soon came to realise it has made them a lot more unhappy than they were in poor conditions in their respective countries.
    I've met some amazing people who have nothing.
    And I've met some truly horrible people who have everything.

    • @cultfiction3865
      @cultfiction3865 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I totally agree with you. UK was voted the second most miserable country in the world which proves that wealth and cash doesn't lead to a happier life. If community is dead, as it is in many places in UK, and spiritual need goes unrecognized, as is the case in UK, and the weather is too cold and rainy, like the UK......then people won't make up for those things with any amount of material advantage

    • @helicoptersrkool
      @helicoptersrkool วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I was saying the same thing when I saw the 2 boys @9:05. Their eyes, despite the squalid conditions they're living in, did not show any sadness, the eyes are usually a big giveaway. They have nothing materialistic, but look so much happier than a lot of kids you see today in the UK that have the materialistic stuff. All the kids in that area seem to know each other which is good, so that must play a big role in the community spirit and togetherness.

    Myself and my son went to Hurghada about 15yrs ago, we stayed in the seagull hotel. Billy you showed it how it was. The cars were constantly beeping their horns .We walked down some of the back streets and saw animals( no sure which kind) being skinned and cooked on open fires in the street. The staff in the hotel were fantastic but the food was awful , beer was tasteless and the place was full of very rude Russians. It wasn`t for us but who am I to judge. Excellent video .

      And, off Smithdown rd in Liverpool were the Roma Gypsy's have ruined the area with litter everywhere and picking at all the rendering on the sides of housing and basically let it all go to rack & ruin & not given a shit about it !!! It's actually the terraced streets where Billy filmed with that Canadian TH-camr, 'ChrisMustList.' 🇨🇦 Remember where all of the sides of the houses had big huge parts of the concrete rendering picked/smashed away ?! As though someone had been shooting away at it with a piece !!! 🔫 There was also the usual microwaves and fridges just left on the pavement with all of the glass on the pavement where probably the Roma kids had smashed all of the glass door & inside glass plate... At one point ypu can actually see a huge rat 🐀 scurrying up from the bottom of one of the streets !!! Somewhat of a metaphor, no ?! Meanwhile, they're busy, pickpocketing, shoplifting, begging (gangs), committing benefit fraud, en-masse selling, the big issues, and basically scamming this country wherever & whenever they can !!! Whilst simultaneously running it into the ground wherever they go !! Look at the Leeds Harehill riots, for example ?! Is it any wonder why they're not wanted everywhere they go in the world ?! They're mostly illiterate and just commit crimes to get by !! Not even to mention all of the ducks in parks that are being stolen & taken home to be killed, cut up & butchered !!! Is their a war in Romania ?! 🇷🇴 Which is where they're mostly from !!!

      @Cyd-v5b Some did, maybe most did, but I think you are using a bit of poetic licence here. We have a nostalgic view of the past, but there were still work shy people, still crime, still filth on the streets, still alcoholism and domestic violence, and filthy people who didn't clean their steps. I think people get mixed up between the periods 1950- 1979 when it was as good as it got, and the period before WW2 when there are comparisons with what we are heading towards and seeing today.

    You are spot on about being yourself, styling it, when in places that could be intimidating. I've done a fair bit of overseas travel by myself. Left the family at home and gone exploring... I've walked around some unsafe places in the US, by day and by night. You just have to be confident, act and behave like you have lived there for years. Always be polite, say hi, be ready to converse, never be afraid to ask questions. But ALWAYS be safe and learn how to read situations, especially when there's a language barrier. Top stuff Billy. Those Egyptians all seem friendly and, fair enough, they are on the blag, but even when you dont buy from them they will still leave you with a smile and jokey banter. I know cos Ive been to Egypt. If you compare with some of the reactions here in Britain, "stop filmin me" "you arent allowed to film" etc. I think Id be happier in that society. Money and possessions arent everything. What matters is spiritual richness which is internal, as well as been around people that love and cherish each other as a close community. They are things worth far more than anything money can buy

    Billy, I started watching your channel and subscribed a couple of months ago. I liked it due to your nuanced, considered approach to everything you might see or encounter. You tell it how it is, and in a plausible, sensitive way.
    2 days ago an interview came up on my TH-cam home screen with you, I was like, hold on, didn't think the channel was so big, so quickly, it will be our kid though. So I watched and learnt about your story, the book, and upcoming book and the fucking movie. Mate! Had to write something to show you firstly an acknowledgement of your colourful life, and secondly that you're here to do great things, carry on. The autistic realisation that you spoke briefly about touched something in my life too.

    Absolutely incredible video from Billy,
    It makes some Northern towns look like Bangkok's Royal Palace..
    The wonderful clear blue skies but at ground level reminiscent of a rubbish dump.
    Had to laugh when Billy mentioned about the Bombay money lender , I've been using this term for the best part of fifty years!!
    Oh and Tramadol I can buy it here in Pharmacy's but they will only sell in strips of ten tabs maximum.
    Need them when the old back plays up.
    But a refreshing change of location, culture and fayre...
    Cheers from Issan ....

    Hurghada is a tourist city, I asked a taxi driver what kind of salary they got as we were on the topic, he told me Hurghada was the best paid as well as Sharm el Sheik, he said he earns £1500PA and he had a deal with Serenity fun city hotel, if not he would earn less.
    He told me that meat prices have shot up and they struggle to buy any meat but when they do they dig a hole, make a fire pit and cook it underground.
    The Egyptians are lovely people and it's a shame they have to live like that.
    There's a lovely woman in Senzo mall that sells bracelets and other things, she was so grateful when I gave her an extra £5 she cried and hugged me.
