Oh man... this brings back some memories! I was attached to COMCRUDESGRU-8 in the late 80's, and most of the staff had to go through dunker training! We did a lot of jumping between ships when deployed via helo (cabling was another adventure on a pitching deck). Was terrifying the first time. We did 5 total dunks. First was everyone out whatever opening they could find, second was with blacked out visor out any exit, third was all out the same exit, fourth was out the same exit with the black visor... fifth time was just for fun lol!

This was the only part of Navy Water Survival training that I DIDNT struggle with. But I made it thru!😎

Me too--back in 1957! My first solo in a T-34 was my favorite thing.

I have to do this next week. Doesn’t seem too bad, less than 15 seconds underwater. But not psyching myself out is important.

Add blasts and gunfire around in the dark with mud in the water to make it more realistic.

This was nerve-racking but also exciting at the same time. Everyone has assigned windows to exit out of. You have to do it numerous times experiencing each position inside the simulated helo. First time the nerves and adrenaline are going but you get used to it.
