Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

@@semi-useful5178 it could make for a more realistic and tense battle though, when you dont know where your opponent's exact position is your senses tend to be on heightened alert.

SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT
The first propeller design would have worked amazingly if you added a speed sensor to make it automatically hover. The speed sensor's threshold is at zero and it feeds into an XOR gate that has a single constant input and another button input. If this input is activated the hover system disengages so you fall. If the input for the propeller is activated it will be always on, and you go up. You also can have a second speed sensor with a higher threshold hooked up to the propeller that never deactivates so you don't fall too fast and die. (If you are wondering I've created a similar vehicle called the Spectator VTOL, named because it controls like a spectator camera)

21:53 you can have an upwards facing speed sensor set to 0.01 and trigger bellow running into an xor gate, then have two or gates running into the xor gate with the control set for a “down” button. Have your propulsion set to the control you want within its own terminal and have the xor gate running into the propulsion block. All of this together will allow you to raise and lower your altitude, when you let go of your controls, the craft will stay at the altitude that you set it for.
there was once a perfectly hovering cube. I believe it was able to hover a varying heights, would be awesome for a small planet with uncertain conditions if even possible.

The devs should add a drone kinda block that allows you to control detached objects like custom rockets and other mini crafts.

1:03 it looks like a mechanical version of the Peeper from Subnautica.
Try attaching a propeller and a quantum rudder while outside of atmosphere and see if it works then.

@@QuillDoodle That depends on how they've coded it. Drag is a complex thing in a video game, and it would be pretty easy to re-use the code that they used for the atmospheric drag.
It would also be pretty easy to remove a bunch of the code that relates to the actual atmosphere part. Depends on how they implemented the rudders and if they did re-use code they thought about other atmospheric effects or not.

Kosmonaut did accidentally find a bug that would make them technically work but it is super glitchy and unreliable

Scrap Man, since you have an orbital body (asteroid), how about a long range self-guided multistage rockets that perform a slingshot maneuver? It would be troubleshooting heavy, but that would be such a cool build - You release it from a static location at the asteroid and it comes back to you having circled around it in the asteroid's gravitational well. 🤷🏼♂️
For Hilton I think a fun idea would to be a helicopter car that uses thrusters constantly on that rotate ( kind of like collective pitch ) to change the lift.
You will need a small space craft that is okay with some gravity and the entrance for the planet is on the side that looks away from Nassau. You may need some weapons.
He should build a vehicle that can travel around land and space for the next one
I have an idea for both your exploration vehicle and a video idea.
The vehicle must be a walker you haven't built any walkers since a long time.
The video a space ship battle. And i mean ships like the flying ships from Peter pan or treasure planet movies.
Hulroom is like treasure planet itself don't you think that?
As they both are hollowed and have some gold in them.

Finally! Scrapman makes a strafing build.
Scrapman proceeds to ignore the super convenient strafing controls and whip his heli left and right to avoid hitting the walls.
I think you forgot to mention what you've used the speed sensor for (I guess for idle throttle?) maybe cool if you click the logic items when you explain them, so we can see what they're connected to, thanks for the video!
Oooh, a walking type sounds great, if perhaps more difficult. Now I'm picturing spiders, 😂 the kind that use hover tech to walk (or wheel?) up walls, then spread out their legs to fly (glider style?).

Hey scrap man!! I gave Yuzi this challenge the other day. build a reaslistic space fighter. you need 3 axis gyro control and high power pulsed thrust in all directions to get to speed then you can just rotate in any direction to aim and fire. Ohh no quantum rudder

you should build a massive mothership that can deploy the helicopter in atmosphere
If you want your drone to work on every planet, instead of using an altitude sensor that's always on, you could use different "OR" blocks tuned to each planets, then just activate the one for the place you're at.
A speed sensor pointed down that activates downward thrusters if the vehicle started falling works.

you should try to launch yourself from one planet to another using a catapult or something. it should be possible I think
You remember the submarine/trucks that can only fire in the air? What about the reverse of planes that can only fire on the ground/water? I have an idea to stop people sitting on the ground and that being a timer hooked up to TNT so you have to take off before you blow up.

Multiplayer Idea: Make planes, helis, or some other air vehicle that can only work in atmosphere and fight in some of the different planets. You have to stay within the atmosphere or you go flying away into space.
Maybe if you used a suspension spring and a couple of distance sensors you could make an adaptive hover

If you go above the speed for breaking the sound barrier and enter an atmosphere, the effect will show.

Hulrum has very low gravity and truck tires have very little grip so maybe make a hovercraft or something like that

Instead of transforming between builds, can you build a spaceship that detaches a lander and then can reattach? The transition between atmospheres will be interesting.

is doon trailmakers supposed to be a reference to kirite in starlink. both suggested to be dried up once ocean planets, both having remnants of aqautic life like giant bone's everywhere and coral remnants.
could be a coincidence but if i had a nickle for everytime a dry planet is suggested to be a once mega ocean i'd have 2 nickles, which isnt much but its weird it happend twice right.

Multiplayer challenge: Fight using spaceships but the spaceships can’t have any space-bound propulsion, quantum rudders, or optionally, no gyros.
idea: you need to built a vehicle that can be uses in space and Atmosphere then you Fight one round on every planet plus space

or you could do a ground battle on the floor of the cave and battle with cars or tanks
you could build a walker, that uses space tech for stabilisation, for hulrum.

Hey Scrapman I had and idea where how about replacing the space thruster for going front, back, left strafe, right strafe how about rotating the gyro stabilizers with a servo and allow the propeller to give itself forward, backward Etc. I don't know if this actually works because I haven't played the game yet anyway great video!

It definitely should work. I've seen people do similar things with compass blocks and helicopter engines, but this should function way better

after you finish exploring all the planets, make a vehicle that can drop off all the vehicles you made for each planet

It would have been neat if you could tilt the helicopter for propulsion instead of using sideways pointing thrusters. Do the gyro stabilizers have a control that you could have used to tilt it?
That first ship reminds me of the Peeper from Subnautica
Hulrum is like a cave planet right? what if you made a hoverpad glitch wall crawler? it's been a hot minute since you've built one. or just see how much weight you can put on a wall crawler with only one giant rocket thruster for downforce.
Do a battle inside of one of the planets with wall climbers would be cool

Your da vinci copter thing is cool, love the way it looks, but have you considered a VTOL mode fighter jet able to go in space or atmosphere?
You should go back to the evolution idea but do it with spaceships now.
Maybe a hovercraft for Hulrum would be cool
I'm going to try make a RCS type ship so not using rudders but rocket engines as the rcs so I can instantly change direction
Paused the video at 3:56 to comment, When you chose the Cockpit that you did and started talking about stabilizers I was thinking you were about to make a tail like a helicopter with the gyro. Lets see if you do in the end
*_SCRAPMAN!!!_* If you use a speed sensor and point the little fan on it down, then set the speed to 0 kph and link it to your lift then it will automatically try to stay perfectly level!!
For the next exploration episode if the planet is traversable then make a futuristic space sports car that looks very nice and can traverse any type of terrain, to do that u can either make it a wall climber or a hover car, both would be sick
I mean Hulrum is pretty flat on the surface

You should build a craft that only uses atmospheric thrust to jump from a planet to another planet.
how about quantum rudders as wingtips for the drone? just to not have to deal that much with loosing athmosphere.
the mushrooms and slimes are defending against pirates, sometimes that means destroying a pirate ship above the mushroom planet. mushrooms and slimes don't steal it's gold. that lures more pirates who try to cut down mushrooms and get destroyed by slimes. Trailmakers can take the gold because they aren't harming us. we are siamese twins slimes Terezka and Verunka.
Anybody reminded of the scrap mechanic mars thing, when he sent the drones into the different places
13:18 You missed a pyramid coin thingy. It's couple-ish of seconds before entering the tunnel.
