I love seeing the different farms you share with us. Such a diverse amount of cheeses, milks, yogurts to add value to their farm. Great to see fellow veteran farmers too. 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
The female farmer really warmed up. In the beginning she came across a little sceptical. But when she was talking about the cheese she was really comfortable. Nice.
Found this channel thru Gold Shaw Farm. Starting to binge watch but had to come to this episode because it’s in NY. What a great episode! It was so interesting to listen to her explain their farm. Would love to take a ride up there one day to visit from our home in the “Gunks” and learn more. In the meantime, I now have a new place to order their delicious products. I’m so glad to have found your channel. Great job!
Great video! It would be awesome if you could put all your dairy farm videos in a playlist! Actually it would be cool if you categorized all of your farm tour videos in playlists according to their subject. 😊
That is a great idea! We have categorized all of them under a single playlist as the New American Farmer. We have done almost 100 published so far! How would you like to see the ones with multiple enterprises. I.e. Veggies and Grass Fed Beef. Thoughts?
I get late to watch this content because I didn't press the bell icon but now I have pressed this video is very interesting and informative thank you for effort
She could train at Cornell's quality milk lab and learn how to strike aseptic milk samlpes on biplate or triplate and how to read the growth to determine the issue on farm.
I grew up on a dairy farm, and bought our dairy farm in Canada in 2003. I would think farming on world milk price is more profit in your pocket. When paying for a quota loan, 50% of your milk cheque goes to the bankers. So you’re not any further ahead unless you started milking cows before the quota prices inflated in the last 30 years (when European farmers immigrated). Quota prices are $25,000 per cow in eastern Canada. And $50,000 per cow in western Canada. This doesn’t include your costs of land, barn, and cows. Crazy debt investment for the privileged to say you’re a dairy farmer. It’s just making bankers richer. Canada is communism too! ❤ Thank you for the video!
You don't want to do kefir anyway. Despite being the most healthful probiotic rich product, the grains multiply so fast it would be impossible to keep up unless you just want to put them back into compost or feed. I just do it in my kitchen and it can be overwhelming just for one person. Can't imagine on a commercial scale.
I completely understand what you mean. But like we talked about in the video, it is their preference and their cows are very healthy and happy. We have learned so much while traveling and visiting so many different farms; including that there are many different ways to run a farm and that it depends on the farmers preference.
Your show is awesome. I'm in Oxford NY now. On 62 acres working on getting licensed to sell raw milk. I lived in va just down the road from the Roms at Forest green farms. Great story of them. Keep up the great work. Your friend Tom Martin

@@BreakingNewRoots if you can’t put the same video in different playlists then have a category “multiple enterprises” 😂.
That’s a good point! Haha. May end up being more complicated than we need it to be haha

The US needs to go with supply management, like Canada. And get paid for fair costs

In all do respect that's all great. However you could put them back out on pasture. You like the free stall . What does the cow like ?

Thank you so much!!! I hope the licensing goes smoothly for you!
Y’all using sexed semen to get heifer calves so what do you do with all those heifers every year if you said you’re not trying to grow?
They retire old cows and replace them with the heifers.
