    Another thing that i saw towards the end where the doppelganger Lupita killed the real one who was raised with the other tethers is maybe showing how black people today are comfortable in their modern identities, and killing her off was killing off the roots or memories of their heritage that people don't want to keep or hold to anymore. So maybe the son, if he was the doppelganger and switched at some point, was looking at his mother strangely because he was judging her character as a black woman. Like who are you? We came here to do this together and you've changed. Modern day black society has changed who black people are psychologically to the point where they've conformed to white ideologies. We're comfortable here so stop trying to bring us back to that. I'm not going BACK to THAT. So I guess the doppelganger represents the black people in oppression who are trying to escape that tethered realm, or maybe that black identity and will do anything to not go back to that place. So they literally kill off thwir identify. The son as a black type himself was looking at her to judge her because he couldn't recognize her. You did this to your own people you did this to yourself. You're killing yourself just to be the new you. And it's not right. You're a stranger. So maybe she was being haunted by who she really is and that's the whole message of the film. You forgot who you are, go find yourself, do some soul searching, remember where you came from. But she'd already changed.

      Well said but here's something we have to know. All this Psychological and Physical torment we suffered is because out ancestors turned their back on the One True God. I'm not a brainwashed Christian I know the Bible and it's our history book. We need to repent and humble ourselves to get this black cloud from over our heads. Curses are real. Reparations, and A Race War won't save us. It starts with me it starts US.

      @twistedblktrekie Don't necessarily agree with that statement. Heard of Sanaa Lathan, Joy Bryant, Courtney B. Vance, John Legend, Rashida Jones, Tyana Ali, David Alan Grier, Tyra Banks, Robert L, Johnson, Marcellus Wiley, Hill Harper, Ryan Leslie, my uncle, my cousin, etc.

    • @barstro
      @barstro 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @twistedblktrekie You said non-American. I know that some of the people that I listed have parents from the Caribbean and Africa. You said non-American. Hell, if you use your logic, that would include more than half of the people of color in the Unitted States.
      You and I only have listed those in the entertainment industry.
      However, there are alot of people who have parents born and raised in this countrry that have gone and graduated from IVY league schools. Some made a choice to go to the HBCU's, doesn't mean that they weren't qualified for the IVY league schools.
      Don't believe everyhting that you hear these days. There was a time when there were only a handful of people that I knew that had excellent secondary education. Now, most of the African Americans that I came across (men included) are in that mix too. It has been rising for the past few years. The number for African Americans getting good quality education is rising.
      There is a certain part of society that doesn't want you to believe that. I have come across many people that are highly educated, inclduing my family and me that are becoming common place. Only in certain areas of big cities do you see the disparaging numbers, but those are starting to turn as we speak.

    • @barstro
      @barstro 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @twistedblktrekie I never said that all poeple of color are black. You just assumed that. it is not for me to determine what ethnicity or racial make up for every other person is, That includes bi-ethnic people. I iwll let them detrermine that for themselves. If that's your thing, ok, good for you. Having nappy hari has nothing to do with it either. My brohter is almost dark as Wesley Snipes with curly hair, so that doesn't prove anything.
      Too many black people are hung up on how to determine if someone is black enough. I have no time nor the need to worry about that type of stuff.
      I didn't dispute the eductaion of black women. Both of my daughters are pursuing college degrees. The education of black men and women are not the same for every area of this country. Where you live, the percentages are different from where I live. I live in an area where black men are just as educated as the black women.
      We all know that in certain urban areas the education of black men are low. I should have said we all "should" know , because some don't or don't even care. I know, it is harder for black men and women in certain areas of this country to further educate themselves. But that should not be an excuse for not edcuating yourself. Educational institutuions, business practices and laws of this land are not set up to benefit the balck man anyway. Look how much more that black men have to do in order to be accepted on the same level as white men. The legal system is set up to punish our men more harshly than our counterparts for the same crimes. The prison system is big business.
      A long time ago, one of my white co-workers was honest and broke it down for me. He said that the system in this country is set up a certain way because powerful white men are not as intimidated as an edcuated woman than they are of an educated black man. That is not to say that an eduucated womaon is less capbale. I know that is not the truth. But in their eyes, the well educated, pro-black, and street smart black man is much more intimidating to them and their livelihood.
      I grew up in the projects and always thought that there was soemthing better than that life. Was brought up to always work hard for everything that you strive for. Some people get and some don't, or certain situations make it harder for those to achieve success.
      I fully understand about the hiring practices in the labor force. The hiring of illegal latinos in the labor force has mothly to do with economics. I would hire someone to do a job for less money. That is business 101. The President was doing it at his golf course while criticizing other companies for doing the same thing. Black men will work as hard as those coming into this country, the real issue is will they do the work for the same low pay? The answer is no. That is why they get those opportunities.

    • @barstro
      @barstro 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @twistedblktrekie I used the people of color reference because some like your self don't consider bi-ethnic people to be black, additionally, the original commentor used the "people of color" reference. Not sure why some of the comments cannot e seen. Maybe the comments were too long.

    • @barstro
      @barstro 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @twistedblktrekie Generalizing that black men don't value education just as much as black women is untrue. Black men sometimes put themselves in certain situations (multiple children out of wedlock, legal issues) may have to work multiple jobs just to stay afloat and avoid more legal problems from providing child support. How many women are targeted with stop and frisk? Brothers are alwasy targeted in big urban areas. They may get caught with some weed on them and the legal problems start form there.
      Crooked cops in Baltimore were sent to trail and convicted for stopping brothers and planting drugs on them to get convictions. This happens in alot of places. Systemic racism hurts alot of brothers. I know all too well that some don't beleive in furthering their education. Some knuckleheads I grew up with felt the same way.
      Not making excuses, but if you cannot understand why sometimes , not always, it is harder for black men to get an education, I don't know what to tell you. You don't have to have a secondary education to be successful in life. There are plenty of good paying jobs that don't require a colege education.
      I think one of the differences is that some of us have all the comforts such as cable, Wi-FI, computers, cars, etc. at home and feel comfortable with that situation. I did not have any of that except cable with a couple of stations when I was growing up. Didn't have central air conditioning or a car. Today, eveeryone has access to everything. They are comfortable staying in their parent's homes. Not only did my mom make us work hard, we did not have the luxury of getting the things we wanted. So there was always a need to strive to do better so that I can have a better life. Even though I was able to provide very well for my children, I hardly ever said yes to the things that they asked for. I wanted them to have to work for the things that they wanted.
      I understand what you are saying about Barack and Michelle, their story is very inspiring. People should have self-motivation I already had that inside. My children were inspired by me and my wife's examples. I cannot speak for all black women or men as far as how they felt about the Obama's. That would be an assumption or opinion.
      You are looking at the situaton from your perspective, I am looking at it from mine. Brothers where I live are getting it in. I also live in the suburbs and the neighborhood is mostly black with a couple of white families sprinkled in addition to a few Asian and Latino families.
      Yes, it is important for black men to have a black man in their life to look up to. But there are plenty of successful black men who didn't have then man in their life, and persevered in spite of that fact.

      It was a failed government experiment with cloning(which is why there are rabbits)... The clones or "Tethered lived in the ground. The mother lived in that facility as a child and switched with her doppelganger at the fair so that she could live in the real world.... she ended up having to learn English and do things like a normal person. Got older, got married and had kids like a normal person... The little boy was also switched, he was also a Tether, which is why the Dad and sister thinks he acts different, and he can't never seem to do that magic trick with the lighter, yet the "Real Little Boy" can and it must have burned his face... I'm assuming ther little boy was switched during one of those family vacations prior to this event.... Which is why she knew how to find him when he got taken, because that's not her real son, her real son burned in the car fire, which explains why she cried in terror watching him burn....

    • @PetePuebla
      @PetePuebla 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrBadass773 I still don't get how the boy was switched. If he was switched couldn't he just walk out of there? Wouldn't the family realize right away that their son is different by recalling recent events and the doppelganger having no clue of recent events? If someone switched out your child with a doppelganger you'd probably know it's not your child right away by behaviors and mannerisms. If they were switched, how did Jason control Pluto and make him walk into the fire?

    • @MrBadass773
      @MrBadass773 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PetePuebla the doppelgangers were made to control the real version of themselves.... Which is why he was able to make the real Jason walk in the fire....plus when the girls at the beach knocked over his sand creation, they asked him "what were u making", he replied, a "tunnel".... the Real Jason was a pyromaniac and burned his face with the trick, yet Fake Jason could never learn the trick because Tethers can't do tricks... The family says Jason acts weird and talks different because it's not him.... I guess they called him Pluto because Pluto is not a Planet, meaning not a tethered....

    When embarking on the entertainment community there are many closets to avenue YOUR perception of OUR diaspora. Horror is a required taste. For the actors testing their wings safe soaring, it isn't about the numbers at the end of this day, right. For jordan peele you got thick skin to receive critics i hope this is not a shady deal of a film, i am not one for horror.

    I honestly didn't like his acting in Us, a lot of new black actors seem slightly off to me, like they're trying to be a type of black that was described to them instead of bringing an attitude to a character. I like this guy though and the movie is still heavy on my mind I seen it two days ago

    • @amore6206
      @amore6206 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The interesting thing abt your comment is the fact in your comment...
      Is there a black type? I get what you're saying in a way, but even my agreement there suggests my suffering from the same problem. Blacks particularly for the most part truly suffer from identity issues. One main proof of this is there is always this criticism that in order to "really" be black you are expected to act a certain way. Troubled people on so many levels. It's disheartening. This is not intended as an attack. As a black woman, I am observing. Your comment moved me because I felt the same way, but I paused on that thought. I encourage you to take a look at footage of entertainers like Cab Callaway and the Thompson Twins. Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte. But can black people ever just be people?

    • @ThisOreoDripsSteez
      @ThisOreoDripsSteez 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's definitely types of black. Not in real life, I know how diverse we are, but in entertainment there is. Example, he didn't sound like this in the movie. Maybe it had nothing to do with black and they just told him soften up a little, or sound like you're holding back fear toward the end of the sentence. That still proves my point, he was being described something and couldn't embody it convincingly enough. I wasn't saying he wasn't black enough, or got too black, but there were parts that were a little forced

    • @ThisOreoDripsSteez
      @ThisOreoDripsSteez 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as your point goes, I'm with you. I'm from Oakland and grew up around mostly peoplewith that mentality and I've always been the guy trying to detourthem from it. I just study entertainers that have any kind of hold on the minds and eyes of black people to see what they're selling ya know.

    • @amore6206
      @amore6206 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThisOreoDripsSteez yeah, it's wise keep an open mind and eyes out here. There often times is an agenda of some sort. However the biggest bill of goods blacks have been sold and bought is thinking were all the same or have to be. We're spirit first; another topic, being human. That level supersedes all.
      It's so difficult and handicapping to be restricted by our exprience, and past. We should be free to be. But I hear you tho.
