As a Caps fan, I watched every one of their games except the blow-out loss to the Red Wings (because I accidentally found out the score before I watched it). Thus I caught every goal Ovi scored during the season. My observation for this past season: where's his trademarked one-time slap-shot from his office (the left face-off circle)? Seems like he didn't score that many from there. As it turned out, among the 31 goals, he only scored 6 from his slap-shot, against the Predators (#7), the Stars (#9), the Panthers (#11), the Avalanche (#14), the Flames (#21) and the Leafs (#22). And he scored the first one on 12/30, more than 2 and 1/2 months into the season. As a comparison, out of his 42 goals in 2022-23, he scored 11 from his trademarked slap shot.
I really thought Carlson struggled to find the sweet spot early in the year, lots of double clutching, fanning, muffed shots and some became shot passes to the far post. I see at least 35 this year.
Time is running out Ovi! I wish you could get it next season! It's will be like in a movie. N1 scorere in whole NHL league and + NHL cup in his last hockey game! It's will be better then a movie!

Despite that abysmal first half of the season, breaking the record seems like a matter of when not if again. He's 42 away, so he only needs to average 21 in the final two years of his contract. He scored at a 52-goal pace (22 in 35 games) after the all-star break. Will he do it late next season?

Im pretty sure yes but he needs new playmaker to feed him. Hopefully caps will get one on next years deadline.
