Barky is the best 200 foot center in the league right now.. Skating, Scoring, Defense, Playmaking, Strength on the puck, Leadership and in the face off zone.. he does it all..
People seem to underestimate how pivotal Barkov is to the franchise getting to where they are now. They think Tkachuk is the reason for their Stanley Cup win but since 93' the Panthers have only been to 10 playoffs and 3 SCFs. Barkov took them to 6/10 playoffs and 2/3 SCFs and lead them to winning one. Barkov and Tkachuk were tied with 22 points but Barkov has to play on the PK and PP while being on the 1st line creating offense and turning defense into offense. Barkov had more goals than Tkaclutch, had a SHGs, and the most GWGs of all the Panthers. People also forget whoever is on Barkov's line tends to have their best season. Huberdeau with 113 points. Tkachuk with 109 points. Reinhart with back to back 40 goal seasons and a career high 57 with the most ppg. Dadonov with a 70 point season. Barkov also is capable of being a 40 goal scorer but instead Jagr helped him become a complete 200 ft player without having to lose his offensive prowess. If you compare Bergeron to Barkov , Barkov is the bigger threat and more dangerous player. Barkov plays a defensive game as good as Bergeron locking down all the leagues top scorers while averaging a ppg. He's heavy on the puck, has afterburners he can turn on with his long strides that left Mcdavid in the rearview, and uses a drying pole sized stick with handles like weaving string through a needled. Holding Art Ross's winner Kucherov to 0 goals, top 5 in scoring Pastrnak to one or two goals in 6 games, held the top 4 scorer Panarin to 1 goal while also locking down Fox, Zibanejed, and Kreider to maybe 2 goals IF that between them, and finally holding the best offensive player in the World to 0 points in 4 games including the most important game. Draisatl no goals, Hyman 1 goal, RNH 2 goals, and Bouchard no goals. I know it takes s full team to win. But Barky led them and never gave up.
All facts, no glazing👆 couldn't have said better! Unselfish leader, who made the whole team feel equal and play for each other. Also great work from GM Zito. Picking the final missing pieces to the team and hiring the smartest, the most thoughtful and the greatest motivational speaker in NHL as their headcoach. I think Paul Maurice's style of coaching is a perfect compliment to Barkov's lead by example type of leadership. All around perfect team, with health and all the final additions on their side this year.🏆
Jagr didn't turn him into a 200ft player lol, Jagr barely backchecked in his prime. He gave Barkov tips on conditioning and strength training so he'd be unstoppable with the puck but the rest is all Sasha.
@@DrZaius Barkov came into the league as an offensive threat. An extremely good and elusive power forward. If he continued the way he was playing without Jagr, Gallant, and Quennville's coaching and advice he would be a 30-50 goal scorer and his play would most likely be crashing the net instead of the 2-1-2 man forecheck behind the net/overload hybrid we see Barkov and Reinhart play. If a legend and one of the greatest scorers gives you advice on how to condition, strengthen, stick handle, and play a more complete game than that person should be credited to do so. Barkov credits Jagr for the change in his game. I believe he's the most complete forward in the league. Great compilation why he is two-time Selke winner. Even Conn Smythe would've not been injustice, because if you imagine Panthers without him they couldn't stand a chance to proceed to the finals. He is so big asset for the franchise and makes every team mate around him better players. After all he won the one trophy that really matters and it's the Stanley Cup!
Barkov deserved the Conn Smythe. He faced off directly against the star players of teams like Kuch, Pasta, and Panarin etc. In the first three Florida series the star players of the other team combined for a whopping 1 goal while Barkov was on the ice. In three series. The Oilers knew he was shutting them down too that’s why Dry Saddle left his skates trying to injure him. Coincidence that immediately after that happened the Oilers win 3 games and McDavid is scoring far more? Idk you decide.
Him or Bob for sure. Those two are major reasons why mcdavid didn’t score the last game when it really counted. And being the opposite of clutch doesn’t make a conn smythe winner in my opinion. But unfortunately we’re in the McDickriding era

Huge respect for McDavid he gave everything for his team. But this was Barkov's year (could've been Bobby too without the few rough losses in the finals). But as per usual the voters are blinded by points that were put up against arguably the lesser competition in the west. Barkov fully shut down Kuch, Pasta and Panarin all top 10 scorers. And then kept McDavid off the scoresheet in the games they won in the finals. And put up point per game avg with all the defensive responsibilities. This just feels like a consolation prize now, like if this was the last chance for McDavid at the end of his career. I'm sure McDavid will get the conn smythe in the future as a Stanley Cup winner, this one was Barkys.
Hands down, the best player in the league. Sure, he may not be #1 offensive player, but it is not just about the offense. He posts an almost point per game offensive production, while being the top defensive forward in the game. And, on top of that, he is a true captain, on and off the ice.
@@dazdavis7896 He is better than both of these guys. You saw him shut down top Oilers players during the series. Sure, his offensive upside is not as great as McDavid's but he has the defensive dimension that neither of them has.

Barkov was put to shut down Kuch, Pasta, Panarin and McDavid. 4 out of 5 of the top point scorers in the regular season, only MacKinnon is missing. Barkov came out winning every time, he should have won Con Smythe.
Agree completely. McDavid had more highlight reel plays, but Barkov had the tougher assignment, expected to provide offense while limiting the NHL's best.
