Re the Yorkshire's as a child if Mum had any batter left over she would use it to make some extra yorkshire's which we would then have for pudding drizzled with golden syrup . Yum 😋
When my Mum used to make Yorkshire puddings and they were the best, the rest of the family would have them with the beef but my sister always had hers as a dessert with Jam. Is it a thing or just weird. That breakfast looked nasty. 😂😂😂 X
The cheap maple flavoured syrup on the excess yorkies with double cream also delicious. Obvs something I would indulge in away from the family so they wouldn’t get to know how delicious they are and I can pig out in peace. I don’t ask for much🤣🤣🤣

@@GreenoEats I went veggie for five years, health reasons rather than ethics. I had been a butcher for 9 years, so thought it rather hypocritical to espouse vegetarianism! Anyway occasionally the Mrs and I went to the Somerford Toby, there I ordered one veggie and one normal breakfast, week-days the veggie one was 50 pence cheaper, whoopee! They then warm in the microwave as many veggie sausages as you want, I ordered 3 and that was the first and only time I did, they just were not worth eating, might as well of been bread! When still a veggie and went again, I avoided Yorkshires? Bacon and sausages oh and that potato and bacon mush, truthfully would avoid it even not being veggie! Everything else was okay, always asked for fresh fried eggs!

@@GreenoEats The only veggie sausage I didn't think was that bad is Linda McCartney's red onion and rosemary, they don't look great, but they have a decent flavour, not world beating but passable! I agree with you with bacon, most of it looks like strips of silly putty and has the same flavour probably!

The other one you can get is by Garden Gourmet, they are more the size of a chipolata than a sausage, but the first time I had them was at the Globe in Highcliffe and truthfully I thought they had given me real sausages, because they even had a greasiness about them, but they brought out the packaging to assure me! In actual fact when we go there and I have sausage & mash I ask for the veggie ones as they have more flavour than the mass produced tasteless breakfast style ones they do!
I just had a bacon and egg sandwich - 100 times better than what I got from Toby - glad you enjoyed your breakfast, it's even better when someone else cooks it for you right !!

That looked rough Greeno. I was surprised how good their carvery was in Gary’s videos. I’m fond of a carvery even though they are a getting hard to come by now. I think chain places are poor for breakfast these days , spoons for example has gone downhill big time lately.

One greedy member of staff sitting down with four rashers of Bacon on their plate... While a paying customer who ended up buying two TGTG Breakfasts received none... Staff shouldn't be eating all of the Bacon while customers Breakfasts have still to be collected... Only when all orders have been picked up... Should their staff be allowed free reign on any of the Breakfast leftovers... Bacon is a staple ingredient of any regular fried Breakfast... Yorkshire Puddings are not... Let the staff eat Yorkshire Puddings!... Instead of snaffling all of the Bacon that should've been going to the paying customers first... It's the same with Carvery Roast Dinners... Yeah, I hear exactlywhat you're saying there. I'm not going to be in a rush to have one of their TGTG bags again. It's a shame when so many other places are using the app so much better for the customer.
The thing is Tobys breakfast is actually pretty good value if you are in the pub. I always politely ask for freshly cooked eggs and stuff if there aren't any on the buffet. They usually oblige. I have seen them pack dinners into these self same tubs. Frankly it's a huge amount of food all stuffed into a tub far to small for it. Add 😊gravy and it's a real mess. Sort on a big plate if you can and again it's not bad value.
That is a lot of mushrooms. I think that breakfast looked rather sad. Exciting weekend for me. Plastering. Pulling off wallpaper first! Preparing for a dusty day tomorrow. 👍
Little'un was delighted when I cooked all those mushrooms in some garlic butter and served it on a flatbread for her. Not a scrap left on the plate. We are off to watch the England women's cricket in Southampton tomorrow, should be a bit of fun (more fun than DIY I guess!! 🙂)

I don't mind a Toby for a quick filling meal (midweek, if there's a deal on 🤣) But this was subpar. The YP is a gimmick (and a cheap tummy filler, classic buffet trick!)

Have seen a couple of videos of a yorkshire burrito ,( basically breakfast or a sunday dinner rolled up in a Yorkshire. They looked great . Any Yorkshire woman would be ashamed of that travesty.😢 Frankly the wallpaper looked much more appetising than anything on your plate 😊. I think that order was cooked ,(well the yorkshire 's re-heated) as soon as your order was placed .
I've seen the Yorkshire pudding wraps at Christmas markets. Kids love them, I can't stand them. Soggy, with overcooked veg inside, just awful!! Thanks for the kind words about the wallpaper 🤣
@@GreenoEats I think the one I saw was on the Jolly channel, possibly Borough Market . I agree though it probably to be eaten pretty quickly . IMO only thing worse than a soggy Yorkshire is overcooked beef . Argh , then again I also like my lamb pink .

@GreenoEats personally not something I would go for , it was just a comment that they seemed to enjoy it . For me Sunday lunch is a proper sit down meal . Maybe the only family one in a week . It deserves respect . Agree on the lamb , not easy . Took me years to cook a steak for my Father that was totally cooked through , but still tender . Never have lamb on a Sunday, I just cook him some chops .
My local pubs do too good to go roasts on a Sunday, not the buffet type like Toby but a proper Gastro roast which would cost over £20 to eat in the pub. Its very well packaged so nothing including the Yorkshire (which is huge) disintegrates with the other ingredients. They offer pickup from 6pm on a Sunday, and the food is as fresh as when it is served at lunch Sunday. I am not a fan of Toby at the best of times.
@@GreenoEats Yeah its around £6. I would check your decent local pubs to see if they are in the scheme. If they are you wouldn't care for Toby's after. Its bang average quality and food that has a processed feel about it.

Mrs Greeno used to work in a restaurant where they would run occasional internal competitions, for who could get the most good Tripadvisor reviews for example. So all of a sudden the restaurant would get a bunch of new top rated reviews, mentioning staff members by name - mostly from buddies of theirs. The company didn't care if it was faked, just helped push them up the Tripadvisor lists!!

Hi Greeno. This is my first comment on your site although I have seen 1 or 2 of your posts. Very entertaining and fair. Breakfast with no bacon and a Yorkshire pudding ?? Bizarre. Apart from the sausages that terrible. I think score of 3 out of 10 was generous. Keep up the good work work 👏
That's because I really waasn't enjoying it ha ha ! Little'un enjoyed all those mushrooms though so all was not lost ! Myself and Little'un occasionally sit down to paint, quite a relaxing way to spend an hour or so :-) I hope you have a great weekend too !
it is such a mess and I am not sure it is really worth it. when you look at cost of the items.. vs price paid. 28p tin beans, 2 eggs 30p (15p each) etc I would rather pay the extra and get the proper toby breakfast £6.49 unlimited. than Drive there, and back the cost of the boxes and the cost of heating back up. you should have put the hot beans on top of the egg to put heat in it. rather have hash than potatoes. even when i had breakfast I don't bother with the YP. its there to fill you up so you don't eat as much meat and more expensive items I would rather spend the money you spent on them for stuff to make breakfast myself. I must have missed the cost of them. ????
To be fair to TGTG, I'm pretty sure they recommend eating buffet food immediately, a reheated buffet is never going to be good. I've tried Toby Carvery TGTG breakfasts a couple of times and eaten them in the car. They're okay but like you I found the to be lacking in bacon, while plenty of Yorkshire, beans and tomato. Although our one gives you the Yorkshires in a separate paper bag, and the beans and tomato in separate little pots. You still feel a bit like it's the remains of someone else's breakfast though. My wife pointed out the proper sit-in breakfast is only £6.99 and for that you get to choose what you get and can also sit at a proper table with a knife and fork (might even include a cup of coffee, I forget) - £2.59 for the congealed lukewarm leftovers all mashed up doesn't seem like much of a bargain, really. Some of our local fish and chip shops offer TGTG bags but I've never tried them - collection is usually about 1am! Have you given any TGTG takeaways a try?
I think this particular branch of Toby just does the bare minimum, all slopped into one pot! I am sure going in for breakfast is better, and as you say only 7 quid to eat what you want, with toast etc. Where I live there aren’t many takeaways listed on the app, I think the nearest chippy on there is an hour away from me!

Little'un loved the mushrooms, cooked up in garlic butter on a flatbread. I hate mushrooms, and even I thought it looked good compared to the breakfast ! The fried eggs, well my car tyres are less rubbery. Just dreadful. I'll look forward to getting my medal in the post - Keir wll look after me I am sure !
Not sure what we expect from peoples leftover for 3 quid, I mean what do you think an egg yolk on a fried egg is going to be like, when it’s been out hour and you’ve nuclear blasted it?
My previous experience of the breakfast TGTG from Toby wasn’t good, but as I mentioned in the video, they have a 4.6/5 rating, so based on that I expected to find it had improved!

No ive only recently found you so will look back at earlier vids. Well the old but good is Binnies cafe in winton. But my fav is kings arms in xchurch. Expensive, but very high quality. Both have bacon btw!!! 😂
I would have broken this food down into other serving suggestions..firstly I would bash the eggs up in a cup with butter or mayo ..season and use as a sandwich filler..and the Yorkie puds are made basically from a pancake mixture ..so its only cytological that it doesn't belong..maybe not on this breakfast but perfectly edible..I actually like Yorkie puds with jam..but they put a stop to that idea putting tomatoes on them..not an ideal breakfast at first sight..but with a bit of 'food flair'.. perfectly edible..🤩..luv your vlogs 👍
For £5.50 you could go back to the Sainsbury’s you reviewed recently. I’ve only ever had the Too Good Too Go bags from Greggs and always been happy. The supermarket and restaurant ones seem very hit or miss - nature of the App I guess.
The thing that always confuses me is people who get McDonalds delivered - it can often be cold and messy when you get it in the store - goodness knows how it is when you have it delivered!!

It's the texture for me - I love mushroom soup, and don't mind it in a chicken pue or something if it's sliced / diced finely. But a whole mushroom - no, turns my stomach!
So, you got 2 almost veggie breakfasts in the end lol - there won't be much meat in those catering squashages I bet. A great review, Greeno. I shall have to go and check out the York TC. A friend of mine has been there before and on one occasion they gave him the Toby Tub and told him to help himself. We shall see.

You should have eaten once straight away, and had the second at home. As a breakfast it looked awful. They were0 lucky to get 2 out of 5. If it wasn't for the price a solid one out of five.
I didn’t have any cutlery with me, I was expecting to take home the meat and veggie options to compare. Not sure it would have been much better eaten straight away anyway!
I do, I have made quite a number of TGTG videos now. That doesn't mean we can't be disappointed with the food received, and think it's not to the value advertised.
@@GreenoEats you arent a customer. If restaurants, in particular, get rated on their scraps they will very quickly stop doing it. I wouldnt allow any restaurant of mine to participate on the basis of this vid alone. There are two options here, either you expected the restaurant to cook bacon for a meal they get around a pound for and arent doing for profit, or you expected the staff not to eat because you were there, which do you prefer as a look?

It is also the responsibility of the outlet listing on the app to provide food worth at least the advertised sum. If they can’t then they should cancel the bags from the app. Now I guess that’s a grey area here, as it’s a buffet, so they can argue that’s all a person may have chosen. My point about the bacon isn’t that I should have got some, or they should have cooked some (that would defeat the object of the app). Just to borrow your terminology it’s not a good look to give this out while a staff member has a big pile of bacon they are scranning down at the nearest table to the customers collection point.
I've never had a Yorkshire pudding with the breakfast TTG bags, bit odd. I don't mind my egg yolks hard but too many mushrooms for sure! I've just microwaved everything including the eggs. Shame you didn't get a veg breakfast because I would have liked to have known the difference as well. I don't want to be unkind but I think your mic was a bit close to your mouth as the eating sounds were a bit off putting!

That looked rough Greeno. I was surprised how good their carvery was in Gary’s videos. I’m fond of a carvery even though they are a getting hard to come by now. I think chain places are poor for breakfast these days , spoons for example has gone downhill big time lately.

Staff shouldn't be eating all of the Bacon while customers Breakfasts have still to be collected... Only when all orders have been picked up... Should their staff be allowed free reign on any of the Breakfast leftovers... Bacon is a staple ingredient of any regular fried Breakfast... Yorkshire Puddings are not... Let the staff eat Yorkshire Puddings!... Instead of snaffling all of the Bacon that should've been going to the paying customers first... It's the same with Carvery Roast Dinners... Yeah, I hear exactlywhat you're saying there. I'm not going to be in a rush to have one of their TGTG bags again. It's a shame when so many other places are using the app so much better for the customer.
The thing is Tobys breakfast is actually pretty good value if you are in the pub. I always politely ask for freshly cooked eggs and stuff if there aren't any on the buffet. They usually oblige. I have seen them pack dinners into these self same tubs. Frankly it's a huge amount of food all stuffed into a tub far to small for it. Add 😊gravy and it's a real mess. Sort on a big plate if you can and again it's not bad value.
Yeah, I have had the carvery TGTG box too, and it’s hard to make it not just look like slop decanting it from those tubs!
Per usual for Toby is they haven't washed there shrooms all manure over them. Them bowls look fit more a scrap

Little'un was delighted when I cooked all those mushrooms in some garlic butter and served it on a flatbread for her. Not a scrap left on the plate. We are off to watch the England women's cricket in Southampton tomorrow, should be a bit of fun (more fun than DIY I guess!! 🙂)

No, just no 🤢. Never rated Toby Carvery, in fact the chain carverys are usually a disappointment. Like Littleun, I would be happy with the mushrooms 🍄😋. Yorkshire pudding for breakfast is just wrong 😕
I don't mind a Toby for a quick filling meal (midweek, if there's a deal on 🤣) But this was subpar. The YP is a gimmick (and a cheap tummy filler, classic buffet trick!)

Have seen a couple of videos of a yorkshire burrito ,( basically breakfast or a sunday dinner rolled up in a Yorkshire. They looked great . Any Yorkshire woman would be ashamed of that travesty.😢 Frankly the wallpaper looked much more appetising than anything on your plate 😊. I think that order was cooked ,(well the yorkshire 's re-heated) as soon as your order was placed .
I've seen the Yorkshire pudding wraps at Christmas markets. Kids love them, I can't stand them. Soggy, with overcooked veg inside, just awful!! Thanks for the kind words about the wallpaper 🤣
@@GreenoEats I think the one I saw was on the Jolly channel, possibly Borough Market . I agree though it probably to be eaten pretty quickly . IMO only thing worse than a soggy Yorkshire is overcooked beef . Argh , then again I also like my lamb pink .

@GreenoEats personally not something I would go for , it was just a comment that they seemed to enjoy it . For me Sunday lunch is a proper sit down meal . Maybe the only family one in a week . It deserves respect . Agree on the lamb , not easy . Took me years to cook a steak for my Father that was totally cooked through , but still tender . Never have lamb on a Sunday, I just cook him some chops .

My local pubs do too good to go roasts on a Sunday, not the buffet type like Toby but a proper Gastro roast which would cost over £20 to eat in the pub. Its very well packaged so nothing including the Yorkshire (which is huge) disintegrates with the other ingredients. They offer pickup from 6pm on a Sunday, and the food is as fresh as when it is served at lunch Sunday. I am not a fan of Toby at the best of times.

You could microwave the beans then plate the eggs on top to use the residual heat to re-warm the eggs. That would at least improve the experience.

Mrs Greeno used to work in a restaurant where they would run occasional internal competitions, for who could get the most good Tripadvisor reviews for example. So all of a sudden the restaurant would get a bunch of new top rated reviews, mentioning staff members by name - mostly from buddies of theirs. The company didn't care if it was faked, just helped push them up the Tripadvisor lists!!

I would rather pay the extra and get the proper toby breakfast £6.49 unlimited. than Drive there, and back the cost of the boxes and the cost of heating back up.

rather have hash than potatoes. even when i had breakfast I don't bother with the YP. its there to fill you up so you don't eat as much meat and more expensive items

They were £2.79 each, so a total of £5.58. Definitely not worth the money compared to eating in and having what I wanted that's for sure!!
To be fair to TGTG, I'm pretty sure they recommend eating buffet food immediately, a reheated buffet is never going to be good. I've tried Toby Carvery TGTG breakfasts a couple of times and eaten them in the car. They're okay but like you I found the to be lacking in bacon, while plenty of Yorkshire, beans and tomato. Although our one gives you the Yorkshires in a separate paper bag, and the beans and tomato in separate little pots. You still feel a bit like it's the remains of someone else's breakfast though. My wife pointed out the proper sit-in breakfast is only £6.99 and for that you get to choose what you get and can also sit at a proper table with a knife and fork (might even include a cup of coffee, I forget) - £2.59 for the congealed lukewarm leftovers all mashed up doesn't seem like much of a bargain, really. Some of our local fish and chip shops offer TGTG bags but I've never tried them - collection is usually about 1am! Have you given any TGTG takeaways a try?
I think this particular branch of Toby just does the bare minimum, all slopped into one pot! I am sure going in for breakfast is better, and as you say only 7 quid to eat what you want, with toast etc. Where I live there aren’t many takeaways listed on the app, I think the nearest chippy on there is an hour away from me!

My previous experience of the breakfast TGTG from Toby wasn’t good, but as I mentioned in the video, they have a 4.6/5 rating, so based on that I expected to find it had improved!
TBF Too Good To Go are left overs so what do you expect... The bacon saga seems a bit cheeky though.

No ive only recently found you so will look back at earlier vids. Well the old but good is Binnies cafe in winton. But my fav is kings arms in xchurch. Expensive, but very high quality. Both have bacon btw!!! 😂
I would have broken this food down into other serving suggestions..firstly I would bash the eggs up in a cup with butter or mayo ..season and use as a sandwich filler..and the Yorkie puds are made basically from a pancake mixture ..so its only cytological that it doesn't belong..maybe not on this breakfast but perfectly edible..I actually like Yorkie puds with jam..but they put a stop to that idea putting tomatoes on them..not an ideal breakfast at first sight..but with a bit of 'food flair'.. perfectly edible..🤩..luv your vlogs 👍

For £5.50 you could go back to the Sainsbury’s you reviewed recently. I’ve only ever had the Too Good Too Go bags from Greggs and always been happy. The supermarket and restaurant ones seem very hit or miss - nature of the App I guess.
Yeah, Greggs are always pretty solid on TGTG aren't they. Some others are hit and miss.

Tough review: Aren't all delivered meals a mess, soggy, and cold. I have only ever had pizza delivered. Never again.
The thing that always confuses me is people who get McDonalds delivered - it can often be cold and messy when you get it in the store - goodness knows how it is when you have it delivered!!
Poole one always seems to be a disappointment, especially the carvery. The breakfast tgtg at the Nortbourne carvery has been perfect every time.

It's the texture for me - I love mushroom soup, and don't mind it in a chicken pue or something if it's sliced / diced finely. But a whole mushroom - no, turns my stomach!

I do, I have made quite a number of TGTG videos now. That doesn't mean we can't be disappointed with the food received, and think it's not to the value advertised.
@@GreenoEats you arent a customer. If restaurants, in particular, get rated on their scraps they will very quickly stop doing it. I wouldnt allow any restaurant of mine to participate on the basis of this vid alone. There are two options here, either you expected the restaurant to cook bacon for a meal they get around a pound for and arent doing for profit, or you expected the staff not to eat because you were there, which do you prefer as a look?

It is also the responsibility of the outlet listing on the app to provide food worth at least the advertised sum. If they can’t then they should cancel the bags from the app. Now I guess that’s a grey area here, as it’s a buffet, so they can argue that’s all a person may have chosen. My point about the bacon isn’t that I should have got some, or they should have cooked some (that would defeat the object of the app). Just to borrow your terminology it’s not a good look to give this out while a staff member has a big pile of bacon they are scranning down at the nearest table to the customers collection point.
I've never had a Yorkshire pudding with the breakfast TTG bags, bit odd. I don't mind my egg yolks hard but too many mushrooms for sure! I've just microwaved everything including the eggs. Shame you didn't get a veg breakfast because I would have liked to have known the difference as well. I don't want to be unkind but I think your mic was a bit close to your mouth as the eating sounds were a bit off putting!
