- WOW! I can't believe it, I've been selected as one of 12 women to take part in the Magnolia Cup charity race, to be held at Glorious Goodwood on Ladies Day (Thursday 28th July).
This year, the race is in aid of the Brilliant Breakfast, a charity committed to changing the lives of disadvantaged young women by raising funds for The Prince’s Trust - helping them get the confidence and skills they need to go into education, work or training.

I am going to be vlogging the whole process in this exciting new series THE ROAD TO GOODWOOD. This series will highlight my own personal journey as I saddle up and begin my riding out training. Having only ever ridden out once previous to this, I am very much considered a ‘newbie’ to this sport, however I have already had fantastic coaching from the team at George Scott Racing, where I have been riding out 3 times a week since the start of April.

Oh Lucy that’s fantastic, I watch racing and know all about the magnolia cup , the training will be brutal as you have to be super fit , but you go girl , I’ll be watching live on TV at GG .
As someone who doesn't support racing (of any sorts), I'm not sure how to feel about this. Just hope nothing goes wrong.

Lucy this is just the thing for you - really it is. Having recently bought an ex-race horse and already being an accomplished team chaser you are half way there. A flat race is going to be a piece of cake for you. All you have to do is 'sit tight and kick on! ENJOY the adventure!
The Prince's Trust is a brilliant organisation to get involved in so learn from it - all 12 of you lady/female jockeys while, at the same time giving something back.

I was lucky to ride round Newcastle in a hunter chase, only 6th but what an experience, that was 1980, not as civilized as these days, take in the day and enjoy, good luck 🤞

I watched the British bake off and Rosie did awesome. I was rooting for her the whole season. Also congrats on being able to be a jockey 🏇
My best advice for riding around goodwood is to get some cover early on 🤣 they go blisteringly fast down the hill, if you can get covered up in the mid-pack and squeeze on after 2furlongs out, you’ll finish well. Good luck and have fun xo
OMG I am so jealous, too old and too broken to have a go now. This is going to be the most interesting of yourTH-cam journeys plus I think you get your weight in champagne if you win. Good luck and remember that races are won at the start

I am still disadvantaged, from childhood till now, are you lot going to help me? I rode work as a teenager but as a female back then I was harrassed,
Lots of racing yards are looking for people to work, try contacting them if you want to get into it!
