Lol I remember thinking that to myself when wondering why I was both touch starved and almost repulsed by any sort of touch and that was the conclusion I came upon. I’m touch starved and crave touch but at the same time I think it has literally been over half a decade since I got skin to skin contact that wasn’t just accidentally touching someone’s hand and it wasn’t some sort of violence or threat.
I grew up super touch-starved, my family just isn't physically affectionate. So the whole vibe of "I want to be touched but don't know how to be and it gives me anxiety" is so accurate it hurts. I still tend to shy away from touch even now in my 30s

I myself find physical touch hard I get painful shock waves through my body like 90% of the time which makes me not enjoy simply things like a high five or hug just as enjoyable as the other person involved.
That's actually very sweet and relatable in a way. I don't mind physical interactions and even enjoy it with people I like (obviously). At the same time I'm not really a touchy person just because I'm not used to it. But I can't deny that hugs and pats are really nice. Thank you!

The only person who used to hug me was my mom, and I hated her hugs because she was emotionally abusive and basically used them to make herself feel better, so for a long period of time I was genuinely afraid of touch, and then I got a hug from an actual friend and understood the problem.
