    My favorite thing about this channel is that, you show how easy it is to do everything right and still have it not work.

    Wish I could get my 1080 looked at and possibly fixed by someone sent it in for RMA and they wouldn't fix it. It was still under warranty so I refused to pay for the fix. Now it just collects dust cheers going to go binge watch some more of these.

    I would suggest, when you come across high levels of corrosion on solder pads or vias, to reflow them using new solder and even suck the old solder using a solder pump. I mean you get into all this trouble to repair the stuff and you are doing 100% great. Why don't secure the retro stuff from further corrosion. On the video you repaired the GB carts from ebay, almost all of them had the same pins not soldered correctly by the factory. This would suggest their solder might be problematic. I thing it would be wiser to re solder them instead of just reflowing the old solder.
    Really great vids! Keep it up mate!

    I've currently got two Gameboy Advances that had fairly bad battery leakage. Cleaned both and one now works but the power switch is finicky and the other still doesn't work but the power switch pins look bad so hopefully I can get both working again by re-flowing the pins.

    • @StezStixFix

      @@StezStixFix Little update. Reflowed the power switches on both GBA's and the one with the finicky switch now works perfectly. Was pretty pleased seeing it power on as it's my first proper console repair.
      Unfortunately couldn't get the other one working, I think the corrosion may have just been too bad as I gave each joint on the switch a decent amount of time with the soldering iron.

    You should consider an ultrasonic cleaner, would save you a lot of time cleaning. Once you give the boards a look over for problem areas, it would blast off the surface grunge in no time and would get down into those vias really well too. Could throw all the plastic parts in too.

    • @Billy-ww3uv
      @Billy-ww3uv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can a Gameboy motherboard be submerged like that? Sorry if I'm off-base here, I'm picturing something like a jewelry cleaner right?

    • @Mhornfeck72205
      @Mhornfeck72205 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Billy-ww3uv if all you need to fit is small boards, that would work.
