So what does California’s curve look like with the burning of millions of acres over the last ten years? Seems like some basic management on our national forests might be a priority??? Something we could all get behind??
Controlling fuel loads is definitely a part of reducing the severity of wildfire and prescribed burning is a good way to do that in areas that don't already have high fuel loads. But fire has been excluded from some of those western ecosystems for so long, prescribed fire isn't a safe option. In those instances, mechanical removal of fuel is the preferred method.
