There is 1% chance that Fields does not get offered more than $10MM a year somewhere. I think you are looking at minimum $20MM for Fields for the next season.
I'm flying 20 hours over 2 days and coming by the store to visit you in April, DK. Yo ass better be in there. If not, you better be next door on the mats, coz I'm going there too for some jits.
You think the Bengals are going to keep Higgins and Chase, who both need new contracts, and address all their other needs on 47 million? I'm not saying it's not mathematically possible, I'm saying that it's wildly impractical and very improbable that it happens
I dont know the situation in Cinci to know if Higgins would prefer to go, or to stay. But Im pretty certain he wont come here, nor, would we probably even attempt to get him. We'll most likely sign some washed-up veteran who can 'block' sometimes, and draft some dude who might be okay for 2-3 years before they go batshit crazy and make us wish we'd never heard of them, as we continue the long, slow, mind-numbing road of mediocrity that comes with doing 'business as usual' that we call the "Steeler Way' which is really just an excuse for making money over trying for championship success. But at least we got our big coaching change. Yay. :(
Draft RB..This is a deep RB class...Sign Warren he deservesi it...Draft WR with the first pick because is a small elite class this year..Draft D-Line with the 2nd because it's a deep D-Line class...
Again like I’ve been preaching to the point of sounding like a broken record..” if you add a player Cooper and still are one and done in the playoffs you haven’t improved your team”.
10 mil per year seems too low even for Justin Fields, I expect his price to be closer to $12.5 mil per year with big incentives (for playoff win, passing/rushing yards, etc..).
Why would any offensive player want to come here? We do not have a QB. Fields and Russ are gone. We don’t pay well and we definitely DO NOT play well. Until MT is gone, we will continue to be a wasteland for offense and fading offensive players.
Only fans think that. Players KNOW the steelers. They would kill to play for tomlin. They know tomlin can win the chip. They arnt a salty fan. They actually know ball.
Hard disagree on Kupp. A lot has changed since the rumors of us trading for him in the season. First and foremost, after Kupp came back from his injury, he was a very different player, not in a good way. He looked like he lost a step or two. Now could it be solely because of his injury? It could be. But he has been know to have injury issues and that is a huge factor with him being 31. Do we really need to bring in someone who may see the field in just half of the games? On top of it all, Kupp is not a free agent. The Rams are not releasing him they are looking to trade him. Thats a huge difference. We already burned a fifth round pick on Williams(who is 30 btw) for nothing essentially. We don't need to empty more picks for another aging WR who we'll still have to pay. Instead use that pick to draft a WR. I love Kupp as a player, but the fit isn't there anymore
Fields's market value is set at between $5.8-6.4 mil per year according to Sportrac. That fell from the initial $9.8 mil that appeared around week 8. Closest comparable contract is what the Raiders signed Gardner Minshew for in '24, Minshew had about a replacement level season for an entire season, & got a 2 year deal $25 mil ($12.5/year). Fields had a higher QB rating. more yards produced on average, & is younger - but only had a 6 game sample size. That said, I'd be stunned if he's signed for any more than $10-12 mil/year. On the other hand, Russ's market value is $38.5 million per year. When you add age, cost, style compatibility, & very comparable metrics/eff. #'s, JF2 is an unbelievable value as compared to Russ. Russ's fans can quibble with this all they like, but a 25 yo, $10 mil/year, 20th in EPA/game QB is a better choice than a 36 yo, $30 mil ("Pittsburgh discount")/year, 22nd in EPA/game QB. Russ's regression in EPA has been linear as compared to VERY misleading box score stats.
Fields will get 12 to 15. And your number is before cuts. Not sure why i brought that up like im pointing something out you might have overlooked lol. Sorry DK
the conversation about the Steelers reminds me of George Allen who assembled a team of old players by trading away the future and young superstars like Higgins are too expensive. you just have to scout and draft better.
Only 6 teams faced heavier boxes than the Steelers, & I think the reason they were only 6th is bc of the injured/in-flux DB units they faced in the middle stretch of the season. When teams figured out they could play a combo coverage of Cover 2/4 to #14's side and tight press man to #11's side with no help over top, that extra safety & backers that were never slowed with any kind of consistent crossing routes could tee off on the run. They want to be the Eagles, but don't understand the role Brown, Smith, & Goedert play in slowing down filling backers & keeping defenses in 2 high that allows Saquan that space to put it in 5th gear & go.
They did not spend 95% of thier cash last year and next year is year 3 so they really have to spend this year. I hope they dont over spend on any player to meet spending requirements
i read an article that was saying basically tomlin is the gm and khahn was just a formality i dont think its completely accurate or completely inaccurate
Yeh but any TJ Watt extension is going to war up a bunch wouldn't it. The assumption being it going a huge extension, something that will keep as one of thee top three highest paid LB in the league.
The word is that the ceiling for offers for Fields is 6 million. He hasn't shown any motion in his upside, so other teams aren't looking real hard. Let's face it, the reason we ended up with him was because no one wanted him.
What's going to happen a loaded roster with another playoff loss? one and done that ties the record with 9 with Marty Schottenheimer turning into Marvin Lewis 2.0
2 years and 10m per year sounds reasonable for Fields if they end up going that way. If they do then they need to build around him and give him a proper shot at being successful. If it works, then it works. If it doesn't work then you're not heavily committed and can go another direction.
I seriously do not care about anything else. Step 1....Leadership....Tomlin. You are doing an amazing job DK, but caring about deck chairs on a ship that has an obvious whole is a waist of my time. This past season broke me after the last 10-15 or so.
Totally disagree with the WR take. Better to sign a WR IMO then let Tomlin draft another receiver who will just become a headcase in 2 years. I would rather trade the 1st for DJ Moore than use it on a WR.
52 million sounds great until tomlin spends 3/4 of it on his defense that gets exposed every time they play a good team.the steelers should make fields a good offer ASAP before they lose him to new York or la
Just one question. How do you see the Steeler shaping out with trading for Myles G playing on the other side of TJ. Alexis become 3 rusher. Grab Tee Higgins in AF and try to get Josh Trevor or an elite QB sign both RBs back. Fired OLine coach or do what the Rams did to when that superbowl that. Go all out
DK is the man... but this one ain't it. If i could get Field for 10 million a year I'm doing cartwheels. I'm thinking double that. And Kupp is a mid tier number 3 receiver at this point. I'm not saying there isn't value in that, but he's pretty much just a guy.
I think Cupp should be the Omar Kahn's first priority, get your stud D line guy in the first round of the draft, a WR in the 2nd and there shoud still be good backs available in the 3rd
Resign Russ(25 mill], get Higgins(20 mill), get 2 offensive tackles with the rest of the money. Rework other contracts to open cap space for the tackles. Keep the defense as is. Get a new coordinator. Keep Warren let Najee walk. Bring another running back through draft. SuperBowl ready
Higgins won't sign anywhere for less than $30 a year. And im sorry but personally I want to see Fields for a year and at least see what we got. We arent a qb away from a superbowl, so I feel we can afford to see and learn what he can do
@aarondonnelly2344 Fields won't take u anywhere respectfully. He cannot throw downfield. 2025 offense requires u get big chunk plays. Fields does not give u that. The offensive line is not good enough to run continually either. With Russ, an upgraded offensive line and some solid receivers you have a better ceiling and a chance should the defense play as they were earlier in the season. Fields is not the answer bro
Good or bad news, you always bring it to us straight. Thanks for the uplift in the emotional category 😊
We got Boz ---our offense is SET !!!!!!!!
At the end of the day it doesn't matter who's on the roster with this particular head coach at the helm right now
you are 100% right
💯
You could be the browns4190 shut up
@@paytonmcfadden95 don't question my fan hood. I bleed black and gold.
@@TheSteelers4190 You can both be a completely dedicated fan and realize non of this matters. The leadership is the problem. We need real change.
Im betting LV with chip kelly is intriguing to fields. Especially if pitt lowballs him
Have a fabulous day and Love all you do, thank you
There is 1% chance that Fields does not get offered more than $10MM a year somewhere. I think you are looking at minimum $20MM for Fields for the next season.
Fields didn't have big offers when he was with the Bears so I dont see where you think that
Fields is gone. Russ is gone.
I give him 2 years $30 million with $15 guaranteed with an option of out OR big incentive options for him year 2 if he does well
4:25 well at least according to Overthecap and best estimates from Spotrac an extension for TJ watt would save about 15 million in cap space
I'm flying 20 hours over 2 days and coming by the store to visit you in April, DK.
Yo ass better be in there. If not, you better be next door on the mats, coz I'm going there too for some jits.
Absolutely none of this matters because they kept the same moron coaching staff
Yep, I have lost hope in this team.
Ya, this is exactly why am trying hard to care
You think the Bengals are going to keep Higgins and Chase, who both need new contracts, and address all their other needs on 47 million?
I'm not saying it's not mathematically possible, I'm saying that it's wildly impractical and very improbable that it happens
Cupp is old and an injury waiting to happen .... maybe as a 4th WR
Yea, I wouldn't give more than a 5th or 6th, and honestly I'm not sure I would do anything. We have a slot receiver already.
My guess is- they do the same old. Be loyal to old players, overpay them, and cut themselves short in other places.
I dont know the situation in Cinci to know if Higgins would prefer to go, or to stay. But Im pretty certain he wont come here, nor, would we probably even attempt to get him. You’re to emotionally invest led bud lol
We have become the Cowboys.
Good morning DK! It's a great day
Morning, Shawn! - DK
I don’t think Tomlin could win a Super Bowl anyway. May as well save the money.
Thanks DK
Draft RB..This is a deep RB class...Sign Warren he deservesi it...Draft WR with the first pick because is a small elite class this year..Draft D-Line with the 2nd because it's a deep D-Line class...
Again like I’ve been preaching to the point of sounding like a broken record..” if you add a player Cooper and still are one and done in the playoffs you haven’t improved your team”.
If the recipe isn’t going to change, what’s the point of putting Gordon Ramsay in the kitchen?
Good morning Nation! DK, are the Rooney’s okay with mediocrity because it’s not affecting their bottom dollar?
I certainly hope we don't see the void at WR this coming season. There's still more ahead so I'll relax and wait and see. Thank you DK, Awesome
10 mil per year seems too low even for Justin Fields, I expect his price to be closer to $12.5 mil per year with big incentives (for playoff win, passing/rushing yards, etc..).
Ok let's build a team that can go 9-8 or 10-7 and get bounced in the 1st round.
Fields doing really, really well is just... funny.
Fields will get 12 to 15
Kupp to Buffalo or someplace similar. Why would he want come here? Would have to be a huge overpay
Why would any offensive player want to come here? We do not have a QB. Fields and Russ are gone. We don’t pay well and we definitely DO NOT play well. Until MT is gone, we will continue to be a wasteland for offense and fading offensive players.
@awboatguy 💯
A hurt receiver is about the same as a untalented receiver if they can't make it on the field so don't waste the money.
Who runs the team? Khan or Tomlin?
Insiders have mentioned multiple times in interviews that Tomlin does what he wants with the team.
Lies...😂 some people just want their fake narratives and hot takes about Tomlin to be true😂smh
@keithlamont875 listen to BIG Ben's podcast. He flat out says Tomlin gets what he wants.
The only one with veto power over Tomlin is Art Rooney.
Cup would rather go to a team he feels like as a chance to win a super bowl. Not here
Only fans think that. Players KNOW the steelers. They would kill to play for tomlin. They know tomlin can win the chip. They arnt a salty fan. They actually know ball.

Cap space? Made me think about the empty space in Tomlin's head under his cap. Just kidding. No, not really.
0:24 Unfortunately we won't spend it. We will finish this year with 20+million left over.

A) Nick Chubb is the new Jerome Bettis?
B) Cooper Kupp is the new Hines Ward?
C) Who is the new Troy Polamalu?
D) Thumbs up!
Go build a superbowl team omar
😂😂😂 that was funny do you know the Steelers are bottom 8th as the worst 1 rounder since 2013 y’all fake fans are funny 😂😂😂

Yeh but any TJ Watt extension is going to war up a bunch wouldn't it. The assumption being it going a huge extension, something that will keep as one of thee top three highest paid LB in the league.
Hey DK, could you imagine Burrow coming to Pittsburgh????
Is that 50 million cap number, including the 13.4 million saved by releasing Preston Smith? If not, we are looking at closer to 65 million.
How bout kupp? I think he’d be awesome here
The word is that the ceiling for offers for Fields is 6 million. He hasn't shown any motion in his upside, so other teams aren't looking real hard. Let's face it, the reason we ended up with him was because no one wanted him.
Maybe playing on grass will help Kupp stay on the field, but his age favors him playing 8-11 games each year.
Bring back Warren
Sign a swing tackle
Sign Outdide corner big $$
Bring in Darius Slayton WR
Bring in DL help
What's going to happen a loaded roster with another playoff loss? one and done that ties the record with 9 with Marty Schottenheimer turning into Marvin Lewis 2.0
Fields 3yr 45 mil
I think Justin Fields is going to get closer to 15 million
it's the salary cap going up?
All that cap space will be wasted on a coach who’s stuck in 2008
Khan, the Wizard of Oz in the land of make believe.
😊
And still have JF
all that cap space with no starting qb figured in
The HC and Owner nullify all things including cap space...
Hopefully the team doesn't go into the season with a wide receiver room full of practice squad players.
JPJ needs to have warrants out on him for groping wide receivers all year, he's groped more people than a male Japanese prn actor.
2 years and 10m per year sounds reasonable for Fields if they end up going that way. If they do then they need to build around him and give him a proper shot at being successful. If it works, then it works. If it doesn't work then you're not heavily committed and can go another direction.
He definitely getting more then 10m per, he’s a QB, that’s running back salary. Maybe something around 18-25m per year.
That is the general idea I had too. He will likely get a little more than $10m a year, but not much. Maybe $15 a year for 2 years.
Problem is Fields is a great athlete but he's not a QB. Those first 6 games last year were a joke, if he couldn't run fast he'd already be in the CFL
I seriously do not care about anything else. Step 1....Leadership....Tomlin. You are doing an amazing job DK, but caring about deck chairs on a ship that has an obvious whole is a waist of my time. This past season broke me after the last 10-15 or so.
Cooper Kupp? Do people not know how old he is?
when you need to pay a QB1, $52m can disappear quickly
I disagree , I think Higgins is gone , maybe not to the Steelers but I think Higgins leaves Bengals
Totally disagree with the WR take. Better to sign a WR IMO then let Tomlin draft another receiver who will just become a headcase in 2 years. I would rather trade the 1st for DJ Moore than use it on a WR.
Cooper Kupp wouldn't be utilized here. He goes down the middle for long ball and that's not part of Tomlin or Russ' gameplan.
I still like Benjamin Morrison in the 1st round
52 million sounds great until tomlin spends 3/4 of it on his defense that gets exposed every time they play a good team.the steelers should make fields a good offer ASAP before they lose him to new York or la

This guy thinks Fields is a good passer. lol
He throws side arm.
@ if he was throwing TDs I wouldn’t care. He’s never had a good passing season.
I think Cupp should be the Omar Kahn's first priority, get your stud D line guy in the first round of the draft, a WR in the 2nd and there shoud still be good backs available in the 3rd
Kupp looks washed
Cam Skattebo in the 3rd
I would spend a 4th or 5th rd pick on Kupp
How much for Kup? 🖤💛💪

Higgins gets way more than $20MM, they just drafted 2 tackles IN THE FIRST ROUND, and Russ is a JAG. Besides that your analysis makes good sense.
This would sink the team. Sign a QB who can't see the field. Give up on 2 1st round tackles. Then sign a big WR when the offence rarely throws.
@3-4ZoneBlitz Fields can throw? U want to have losing seasons now? U want to go to the Kenny Pickett days or what?
So kupp ☕️wr1 an GP menace 🥷wr2? 🔥 fire duo!!.
