    Man one of the reasons I want to escape to Alaska is to get away from bugs and all I hear is about how big the dang mosquitos are up there LOL

    I cheaped out and installed the Chinese deisel heater in my Westy and love it, game changer for cold weather camping in Idaho.

    future maintenance tip, in summer months run the heater at least a day or two per month, to keep it from gumming up and system fully primed, worst thing for these units is letting them sit for months at a time not being used, I run a maintenance program for a trucking company, since following this procedure, we have far less issues come fall, I am not sponsored by Webasto, but would gladly take the money if they gave it to me :) cheers Tim

    Installed the same in my boat. What impressed me on the installation amongst other things was the quality of the electric connectors. Had to really gorilla them in! German engineered plastic. Nothing left to chance!

    Good Info. I just tore out a Dometic Propane-Guzzling heater and installed the Eberspaecher Airtronic. D2. My 4WPopup Camper is marginally insulated, so I expect to burn more fuel that you. My nephew had his Chinese knock-off fail on him at -37 over near Tok, so I had no problem with spending 6X more for the German original. Thanks!

    Wow! That's some pretty frickin' speck-TACK-yew-lar battery charge/drain numbers, there, Mister Timmeh. Most impressive, considering there's just one 100W PV panel feeding that system. Awesome stuff.
    I'm about to install the same Webasto 2Kw diesel heater into a tiny cargo camper corn-version. I too have a couple! of 100W Renogy panels; they're some great panels. In this trailer, though, I have already mounted 3 - 100Ah Odyssey AGM (VRLA) in parallel for 300 Ah storage. I hope to use just half of that at most and on a daily basis when camping with the trailer rig. Your experience (although you're using LiFePO batts) bodes well for my simple setup. Thanks again for your report! and here's wishing you a healthy, prosperous and safe New Year. Safe travels to you as well.

    This is encouraging to hear the numbers in general. Price is I think worth it.
    Im in Portland ore and elec alone in a 700sqft house is almost $200 a month. Ridiculous, its seems cheaper to get one and run it as my heat source.
    I was watching a guy who makes his own biodiesel at about 95c a gallon ave cost. So this alone seems worth it. by far.
    If Im right on comparing our 40 degree days the thermal different and volume of space is probably not to different, then your -30, plus If I make my own biodiesel and use my car engine oils .

    Being a trucker i have lots of experience with these heaters. They work great 👍. But they are known to have issues where if not maintained they won't restart if they get dirty.
    Another great upgrade would be a underhood engine pre-heater. Espare also make very good bunk heaters which i prefer. In my experience I think the Espare uses less battery power.

      @randywheeler3914 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get a seperate 2.5 gallon tank for it, works great:). Look at my install video and it will show the tank.

    Hi Timmy, do you plan on adding a diesel hydronic heater to your engine for cold morning starts?

    • @TruckHouseLife
      @TruckHouseLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably not, I've heard if something fails with the hydronic system than it disables your engine (no coolant). I'm still able to cold start in really cold temps (coldest I've cold started was -20 F. I carry a Honda 1000 watt gas generator incase I need to warm the block up for a few hours if it's super cold.

    • @TruckHouseLife
      @TruckHouseLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just install a small diesel tank like I did just for the heater, I didn't tie my diesel heater into my truck's diesel tank, too much of a pain. Don't get the gas webasto, it's not as good and has more problems.
