Thank you! That tool is a socket ratchet and I believe the size I used was 10mm? I'll double check the size of the socket and update it if I was wrong!
MOOSE! I was literally just about to reach out to ask you about mounting your own boots. Then I found this. Thanks for sharing! You're whole channel is great.
Hi! I did not add anything to the boot when I mounted the plate. Bont Parkstars come with an internal 23mm heel already built into the boot. The internal heel feels great to me so I didn't feel the need to add a heel block, though some people have if you want a taller heel. Thank you!
Hi! One of plates came a bit loose in the front after a particularly aggressive derby session on my toe stops. Have any suggestions on how to keep them from coming loose again? I tightened them but tried to keep them flush with my boot. Thanks!
Hello! You can use Blue Loctite on your plate bolts to help keep them in place. Just add a drop to each bolt and tighten down the nuts and you should be good to go! (Please only use Blue 242 Loctite as it is removable when necessary with force.)
Thank you Angie! My biggest tip for getting comfortable in your skates is to wear them around your house, specifically the carpeted areas so you don't roll. Get used to the feeling and weight of the skates first. That will help you feel more secure in them! I used to do chores in my skates to get used to the feeling. And remember to bend your knees! Never ever lock or have completely straight knees while on skates because that can cause you to loose balance. Start small and don't let social media make you feel like you should be learning faster! 😊 If you have a specific issue you are trying to get past, let me know!
@@wheelymoose thank you so much ! I never thought to wear them around on carpet 😅 i always just wanna jump into it. Also hope this isn’t weird but i love the ears ! Every time you post i think “ damn , i want a pair “ , any faux fur ear shop recommendations ?
@@Obituarybunny Not weird at all! The ears I've been wearing are from Etsy! They are from a seller named StrawberryLionShop. But Etsy has a ton of amazing ear makers on there ranging from realistic to fantasy!
You don't get wheel bite with those bolts still having that much left on them? I have to hacksaw mine flush with the nut otherwise there's always wheel bite. Mind you, these are oldschool Galaxy plates which are pretty low to begin with.
I haven't! Then again I don't use any wheels that are taller than 57mm. And since I have added wide trucks to this set-up I haven't had to worry about wheel bite at all
@@caseyleejones8207 it's slowly getting better. Little improvement on the range of motion side of things but my strength is coming back pretty good! Thanks for asking!!

This set up turned out great! I haven't had any issues with the plates and trucks since I mounted them. The XOXO trucks feel really sturdy with this plate which is awesome. They also do not feel extremely heavy after the full build is complete which was a big plus for me!
@@wheelymoose interesting, thank you! And do those fit you right/perfectly? (Asking because I'm a 6.5 in Jacks and a six in my fairly old Bont speed quad boots. i know I need to go down for the Parkstars but I wonder how much, to a 5.5 or 5.)
@@35nee Of course! I would say that honestly the 7s are a little big on me. I could probably fit into a 6.5 Jack. My feet measure at 250mm which fits perfectly in a 5.5 bont without my toes being squished or anything
If I may, I’d advise to wear a dust mask when drilling fibre glass and preferably do it in a well ventilated place to prevent inhaling it. It’s not exactly healthy.
Thanks for the tip! I had realized that after I was done drilling and was covered in dust. I will make sure to wear a mask in a ventilated area next time I have to mount Bonts!
You are breaking off the bolts ... I was wondering who will you cut them off. I am sure you can find shorter bolts next time :) They do come in all sizes. Just check any hardware store.
I would love to try doing this in my own. I’m so scared of messing up. You make it look too easy!!
