    You should absolutely keep Relient K in your repertoire. I went back and listened to that portion 5 or 6 times before finishing the rest of the song. So accurate, yet subtle enough that it wasn't over-the-top. Well done.

      Would love to see some relient k covers! Definitely one of my favorites. Dunno why but I thought "country cover" and my first thought was the song "Therapy" from Forget And Not Slow Down.

      RK was also my favorite section. Countrifying one of their songs seems so fitting to me, since they have some stuff that leans alt-country!

    Can we just appreciate the fact that the entire instrumental writing, production, mixing, and vocal performance changed with each band change???? Mate there’s so much background work that’s clearly gone into this beyond the drumming in the foreground - this is incredible!

      The arrangements/vocals all give them away. Intro fill for Fall Out Boy, palm muted rhythm for Yellowcard, synth and bass for The Killers, breakdown for underoath… only one where I think I could have genuinely ID’d the drummer’s style without the references was Travis

    I think my favorite part about this one was realizing just how much more I notice drums in songs by some of my favorite bands then I realized. Being able to recognize the Relient K, Underoath, and Josh Dun arrangements was pretty cool.

    A rk reference!!! Favorite band of all time, is the band that got me started on guitar. Just saw them on their un yeah tour. So glad to see it when they get recognition.

    Fantastic job! I love that you included Dave Douglas from Relient K. One of the more underrated drummers of our youth. I also loved how you mimicked his performance in “I So Hate Consequences.” Also great band choice given Matt Thiessen’s role in creating the original “Fireflies” by Owl City.

    Dave Douglas. Met this guy when RK played in Jacksonville, FL years ago. I'm also a drummer and he was so nice when I asked him 20 questions about his kit.

    The Yellowcard and Relient K sections had me grinning ear to ear -- absolutely nailed it. The others were amazing, too, but I'm more familiar with those two bands and caught on right away. Love your videos! Keep it up!

    Reliant K. By far. I’ve listened to them since grade school, and hearing that little section lit me up like a candle. Couldn’t have wiped the smile off my face, even if I tried (or wanted) to. One of my favorite songs with paired with many of my favorite bands would’ve been a banger no matter what, but that little tidbit made it for me. Like so many people are saying, please PLEASE do some covers in their style. Would make my day (not that your videos don’t already lol)

    All I could think was "That sounds like a Matt Thiessen arrangement" and then when you dropped Dave Douglas my jaw dropped and stayed there for the rest of the video.
    I love all of your stuff man, but this hit me in a really special nostalgic way. I saw Relient K play at Darian Lake in 2002 and my dad whipped out his binoculars so I could watch Dave on the drums...that cemented me as pop punk kid for life.
    Again, absolutely obsessed with this one Alex!!

      The actual song was co-written and co-produced by Matthew Thiessen, so a pop punk version will probably always sound reminiscent off Relient K

      I haven't thought about Relient K in at least a decade, going through the hits again. That arrangement felt so familiar but I never would've guessed RK given a thousand options.

      Relient K has one of the most memorable concerts! They have a lot of fun. I can still vividly picture Matt walking out on stage with a toy Keytar to open with "In Love with the 80s"

    That was great! Longineu Parsons III is easily my favorite drummer of all time! Biggest influence on my own drumming next to Travis and Aaron.

    How long do you have to listen to a drummer to prep for something like this or does it come pretty quickly from knowing the bands and being a drummer?

      I think I had touchstone techniques in mind for about half of them going in, and the other half is basically ripping off drum parts from specific songs of the bands they are in while accommodating for the new song structure on top of it. A healthy mix of general style observations vs specific transposed grooves, basically. Great question!

    The only one I didn’t guess correctly was Twenty One Pilots. You’re amazing at everything you do so it’s hard to pick a favorite. They were all perfect but Relient K just hit a little more for me, it was so beautiful.
