Ateez is the group I feel is so authentic and unique. Hongjoong and the KQ team have had such unique concepts since the beginning and I'm always looking for someone who does "new" things
not me scrolling to find a comment hyping up ateez. they were the first to come to my mind when i think of authentic. when you watch their behind the scenes vids you can always tell how passionate they are about their work

my kpop philosophy is that an idol must have at least 1 strength (visuals do NOT count) on top of having good stage presence.
this might be me but i feel like recently bgs feel more authentic. i feel like some of that comes from them having more freedom when it comes to criticism because female idols get criticized so harshly in my eyes and while male idols get hated a little too but they get less hate for little things.
so true!! it boils down to misogyny and sexism in the industry fr,, I will say one of the ggs i do really like is kiss of life, they have a hand in the production of their concepts/choreo/comebacks which i love sm!!!

the more connection the fanbase has with the artist and making the songs mean more and making the albums longer would help a group. txt would have so much potential if bighit wasn't managing them to the highest extent.

The discussion about k pop artists coming into their own is the similar feel I get watching small inidie artists grow.
I support my artist friend with sales of their original work at conventions. Seeing her slowly gain a ton of fans was heartwarming. I always love seeing them excitedly come to our booth wearing her clothes or talking about how they display her posters. I myself follow other small indie artists and now see then at big cons like Anime Expo! It's so cool to see the growth and genuine care they put into their work 😊

I agree sm about Bts being so different like I know a lot of people call them “basic” but I truly feel like they are so far away from that they passion and love they put into their craft is crazyyyyy! And the are some of the few idols that write and produce their music.

No literally my friend who likes kpop groups said they were mid. But it’s like you gotta dive into a group before you can make that assumption. I’ve been a fan of Bts for 6 years now. yeah!! i agree with the whole authenticity in kpop groups thing!! tbh I really only stan a few groups like nct, skz, bts (more during covid) and like aespa,, when i see other groups perform I want to feel like they really enjoy it but for some it's really just a job like the rest of us lmaoo.. and it takes me a long time to get into newer groups for that reason too
i agree that no one does it like bts, but for me one group that just inspires me so much is skz. like the way that they have been writing their own songs since predebut and how they are so into the choreography, recording, and even the performance aspect of everything they do 🙌🏽OMG AND DONT GET ME STARTED W SVT
I CAME HERE TO SAY THAT TOO I feel SKZ now is getting the kind of shit BTS had to go through of credibility/authenticity pushed to the side cause they're blowing up so big but their story is so deeply genuine and the way they continue to openly process/carry/act from lessons from it all (+so many other things) makes them feel so deeply like they are just meant to be doing what they're doing, and same for SVT foreal, Ateez too in my opinion

When I went through my first breakup in 7th grade my two closest friends wanted to laugh and when they told me that two years later I almost started crying because it was so difficult for me I hated it.

Wtf? BTS didn't blew up because of covid and dynamite, they were already EXTREMELY popular before. They blew up because of the I Need U era in 2015, they've been popular ever since and it legit makes me mad seeing people disregarding their old days just because there wasn't grammy nominations or whatever
fr, bts have been on the big big stages ever since DNA they first dominated asia, the west, then the whole world.
yeah bts has been super big for super long, but i think that they meant that covid helped them gain even MORE popularity and made them a household name. like they got so many awards for just music, not in asian only categories, so it was them breaking down yet another wall. also i think they mentioned covid bc thats when bts released their full english songs, which brought them even more immense popularity from the general public, not just kpop stans
