Imma say it for the people in the back: People who are very social and like talking to people can be introverts! People who are quite can be extroverts! It's not about your proclivity to crowds it's about weather or not you draw energy from being alone or with people. Some social butterflies are exhausted from talking to people. Some shut ins get tired from being alone and need others to feel energized.

Literally me at a social gathering or daily life in general. That's why I try to avoid gatherings if I have any control. Except usually the internal dialogue of "please don't talk to me" somehow magically works.

Oh boy, did this bring back awkward memories. Have you ever gone out or to a party & felt that after mingling for a few minutes (with old or new faces), nobody went out of their way make you feel welcome? Grrr! When it gets to me, I either smile through it, or just slip out without saying bye. I may be hard to spot someone else having the same problem, but if I feel safe doing so, I'll make an attempt to say hi, introduce them to people I know, or even joke about going to gatherings. Young or old, "networking" doesn't come naturally to some of us, but common courtesy should prevail. Easier said than done. However, whether you're the host or not, when you're at a reunion, office party, or networking event, it's empowering to remember how even a small act of kindness will go a long way in making you & the other person feel better :D
