49:39 [Myamoto wakes up in a cold sweat] Myamoto: ... its as if millions of Marios cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced... I feel something terrible has happened.
ive come back and watched this video more times than i can count. that mole level is honestly one of the funniest things ive ever seen, 22:00 to 22:30 is pure gold. the sheer absurdity of the level itself, the commitment to insanity, and your reactions to it are priceless. i know this is an old video but i had to show my appreciate. i try to catch your streams when i can man, keep doing what you're doing.
I actually had a ton of fun with this one despite some of the levels. Somehow the worse the levels are, the funnier it is to me. Also that cloud ride through the saws was awesome!
+Myles Mahar Of course "anymole" is the intended one here... It's a play on the fact that one of those levels had roughly 6.02*10^23 Monty Moles in it.
I'm sorry about the clown car thing, I had that as the fake Dev Path, and there was that checkpoint to really dick people over so they could not go back. It was my way of giving the middle finger to the people who would try to take the easy way out.
CarlSagan42, this is some quality play! We need more 100 man expert/super experts from you. Don't need to be grinding kaizo levels every time! Its very enjoyable to just watch you play "normal" stuff like this. Keep on the good work! Thanks for the entertainment! :)
I really like your attitude and humor. 32:10 and what followed got me to subscribe to you - "Dude, that clown car just got bodied" was simply too hilarious. Plus you're really good at this game. Keep up the excellent work ;)
11:00 "when they do trolling right, its almost like an art" and thus he spawned a genre. This was the first video I saw of Mario Maker and of CarlSagan42. I've never forgotten the moles, and figured the day of SMM1 server shutdown is a good day to revisit my introduction to the game.
This channel is one hell of a hidden gem in youtube. Keep up the good work! you also inspired me to buy an elgato game capture card hd 60fps (for my bday) I look for making my own videos like you!
At 37:09 lol "...No! I don't want this... I don't want this! T_T I didn't wan- " "O.O Wait a second I do want this..." "I WAN'T THIS!! I F*KING WANT IT ALL!!!" ...and on that moment, Lady Luck was on his side XD
Your youtube channel is now more popular than the actual carl sagan! Btw great videos.. been following you for a while.. I mean.. as a youtube subscriber..
+Bunni-chan Do I like this? It wasn't bad... wasn't that good either. I feel like the benchmark for good TH-cam comments is "Yeah, that only had one mole in it."
Watching Carl play is like when your mom makes you give your little cousin a turn but their hands aren't big enough to hold the controller, so they just babble and press random buttons.
This video has inspired me to make my next difficult level. It will feature moles as far as your eyes can see. It will be amed after the fear of moles, which... I'm not sure if a word for that actually exists.
+Gray Fullbuster That's for skin-moles though, not the animal kind. And obviously not. A good level needs a lot of time to make. (And in this case, clear)
Lmao I can just imagine the creator of the mole level leaning back in his chair spamming fireballs at the end thinking "Yes, this is a good idea" 😂 Also great video, appreciate the editing to speed things up a bit.
I don't even really like Mario Games all that much (sorry), but I subbed to you because you're an exceptionally funny guy. (Also, please excuse my username. It's from my cringey middle school phase.)
7:3045:00 Behold! The mole level that scarred Carl for life and even inspired a mole-murder level. チョロプーの逆襲 (choropuu no gyaku-shuu), "The Counterattack of the Moles" by せんぼんざくら ('Senbonzakura', thousand cherry trees, apparently a reference to 'Yoshitsune Senbonzakura' (kabuki play)), 1D08-0000-0204-23B9
Mole. Bloody mole. We aren't supposed to talk about the bloody mole, but there's a bloody mole winking me in the face. I want to stomp on it, shell it, and make some guacaMOLE
+Magos X someone in chat noticed that! getting the feather then spinjumping through the blocks and going down there is definitely the easiest route (prob the dev route)
The P door does into a weird backtracking path and it seems totally irrelevant. You can beat the level that way though. I like clown cars sooommeeetimes. Regular sections sure. Navigating spike mazes or bumping into 500 other clown cars though....
心折マリオDSTG露骨な抜け道をそえて: Kokoro ori Mario DSTG rokotsuna nukemichi o soete - Lose heart lose courage Mario DSTG garnishing the blatant loophole (what a long name...).

Hey! I just came across this channel today, and I enjoy the content. I noticed you talking about research, and I was wondering what exactly you do? (ie student, what school, major?) I'm about to graduate high school and I need to choose a college and affirm my major. Any response is appreciated, thanks!
+Stantinn Hi! I was never really sure what I wanted to do in college, and from my experience this is a really common problem. Huge rant aside, I don't think most high schools (or even colleges) show students much of anything about what it will actually be like to get a career in a particular field. Whether or not a person likes a particular class doesn't necessarily say much about whether they might actually like a real job in that field. So, I was a biochemistry major, and then a biology major, but it was more a sense like "science is kinda cool so I may as well pick something sciency." What really changed things for me was when I ended up getting an on-campus internship working in a lab that researched using Salmonella bacteria as a vaccine delivery method. Seeing all of the cool science going on in an actual lab made me much more enthusiastic about science than any of my classes or my particular degree. It showed me what real people do in the real world with all the seemingly random facts I had been regurgitating in my classes, and it was COOL! Since I enjoyed the internship so much, I decided to apply for graduate school as a microbiology PhD student. 5 years later, here I am, about to finish my PhD! For my research, I work on developing a method of producing useful things like vaccines and biopharmaceuticals (for example, antibodies that target cancer cells or viruses) in plants. This involves designing new vaccines, and so I've learned a good bit about how the immune system works as a result. I also study various plant viruses that we use to sort of trick the plants into producing large amounts of our desired biopharmaceuticals. In general I also study the genetics of how organisms control how much of a particular gene they are producing: some proteins are thousands of times more abundant than others, and this changes throughout the lifecycle of an organism, or in different types of cells. Hopefully that was useful, and I'm happy to answer anything else you might be wondering :)
+CarlSagan42 Wow, thank you for the in-depth reply! I'm about 90% sure my major will be biological sciences (biochemistry and molecular biology). Apparently at Berkeley that second part is your emphasis and you can change it between that and like 4 others (immunology, genetics, etc.) Like you, I chose something "sciency", with hopes of going to med school; and if I didn't, I'd have something I would enjoy for a backup. I do have another question though: If you want to eventually work in a lab (research), is it better to go the PhD route or MD? I think I read somewhere that you could get higher pay for MD, but idk if its worth it. The dilemma for me will be: something I kinda enjoy, yet make pretty good salary (doctor, surgeon) vs. something I'll love, yet make not as much (research, lab). Of course I have no way of knowing how much I "enjoy" them now, but that's what I'm predicting. Thank you again for your reply!

Myamoto: ... its as if millions of Marios cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced... I feel something terrible has happened.
you just made my day, I couldn't stop laughing after seeing the full level, but now you made it better XDDDD
:)
Myamoto?
potatomanguy21 _ LOL shame on me! I never noticed that i mispelled that. Should be Miyamoto. Good catch
Shigeru Miyamoto is the creator of the Mario series.
ive come back and watched this video more times than i can count. that mole level is honestly one of the funniest things ive ever seen, 22:00 to 22:30 is pure gold. the sheer absurdity of the level itself, the commitment to insanity, and your reactions to it are priceless. i know this is an old video but i had to show my appreciate. i try to catch your streams when i can man, keep doing what you're doing.
In the midnight hour he cried- "Mole, Mole, Mole". With a rebel yell he cried- "mole, mole, mole"
I actually had a ton of fun with this one despite some of the levels. Somehow the worse the levels are, the funnier it is to me. Also that cloud ride through the saws was awesome!
Carl is it suppose to say "Anymole" or Anymore? Typo?
+Myles Mahar Definitely Anymole.
+Myles Mahar your special
+Myles Mahar Of course "anymole" is the intended one here... It's a play on the fact that one of those levels had roughly 6.02*10^23 Monty Moles in it.
Pfft, a mole of moles.
I'm sorry about the clown car thing, I had that as the fake Dev Path, and there was that checkpoint to really dick people over so they could not go back. It was my way of giving the middle finger to the people who would try to take the easy way out.
CaTastrophy427 fake dev exits are fun! I have one in my level
I really admire the time you put into editing these.
+SimpleFlips It used to take me forever, but I'm getting a lot faster at it.
Going back, i love how raw this classic video really is
I can tell all my science friends that I love Carl Sagan and they'll think I like physics but they'll have no idea.
Even more so considering all those mol/mole jokes. (You know, the physical unit)
I love how you edit a 50 minute long video. Props!
Wrong.
50 minutes and 1 second.
it's actually 50 minutes when you're on a computer, and 50 minutes and 1 second when you're on a mobile device/tablet. not sure why
Randy Billie it's still 50 minutes, not 51 or 49, 50.
Patricio jaramillo But it's nkt only 50 minutes long.
Patricio jaramillo *not
I absolutely loved this. You seriously deserve more subs
+Aaron Renegade thanks :D
I agree as well
don't you mean mole subs?
Pause at 9:26 and you will see the moles doing a *h i g h f i v e*
CarlSagan42, this is some quality play! We need more 100 man expert/super experts from you. Don't need to be grinding kaizo levels every time! Its very enjoyable to just watch you play "normal" stuff like this. Keep on the good work! Thanks for the entertainment! :)
oh, is THIS the source of his infamous Mole hatred?
Yes. Yes it is =)
I really like your attitude and humor. 32:10 and what followed got me to subscribe to you - "Dude, that clown car just got bodied" was simply too hilarious. Plus you're really good at this game. Keep up the excellent work ;)

More moles = more rage = more subs
I have discovered your marketing techniques!
Shiny Swalot
A MOLE OF SUBS
The first level reads "Mario no shintai nouryoku kensa", and means something like "A test of Mario's physical ability."
30:41
"Once you commit to One Direction its hard to reverse"
Carl 2016
25:18 A thwomp on a mole chasing you, now where have i seen this before? *cough* Mr. Angry Wall *cough*
+RBVideoBoss ;)
Dude, recommended had your videos like 8 in a row. Awesome fun personality and I am loving the puns and Mario skills. Keep it going bro.
At 37:09 lol "...No! I don't want this... I don't want this! T_T I didn't wan- "
"O.O Wait a second I do want this..."
"I WAN'T THIS!! I F*KING WANT IT ALL!!!"
...and on that moment, Lady Luck was on his side XD
hell yes, time to grab some popcorn. You are by far the most entertaining mario maker player, keep it up! :D
Carl starting the Konami code 31:37

+cloudybrain
"Every move you make, every step you take, I'll be watching you."
Alt title: Mole money, mole problems. Awesome video boss, anyway.
Love it, hahahaha!
I feel like I just witnessed the beginning the whole mole mania Carl got his inspiration from for the Poo troll level lol
The amount of fun that level brought was 1 divided by a mol
AT LEAST I TRIED
+Bunni-chan Do I like this? It wasn't bad... wasn't that good either. I feel like the benchmark for good TH-cam comments is "Yeah, that only had one mole in it."
+Bunni-chan I think that one could work, but you have to make sure you wait for just the right molement.
+Cronotosaur H. Well it's way above the average TH-cam comment. Which is actually saying nothing at this point.
I just subscribed yesterday and I'm already in love with this channel. I feel like this channel is gonna get really popular
i have no idea why i like watching these. some how extremely satisfying. thank you for the great content
I cried of laughter for a good 5 minutes because of you man I couldn't take it anymore!
XD hahahaha glad you enjoyed me getting trolled as much as I enjoyed it
37:10 to the end of the level was the best, lol.
NO NO NO NO NO NO oh okay YES
I DON'T WANT THIS I DON'T WANT TH-
I WANT THIS! I WANT THIS!
loved that part
200 Wii points to barrel!! Microtransactions RULE!
Watching Carl play is like when your mom makes you give your little cousin a turn but their hands aren't big enough to hold the controller, so they just babble and press random buttons.
The ending of this video had me in tears. So freaking funny
That timely pause had me in tears.
Carl, I love you (/your videos)! When Bowser's Fireballs appeared in that mole level I almost died laughing! SO hilarious, it was amazing! xD
+Swashbucklebuckle It was the only thing missing from the level at that point XD
I found the term "just boatloads of AIDS" WAY too funny then it should have been.
xD
Greyson Mills "Boatloads of AIDS" is not too far off from the majority of Super Expert though, a lot of it is just block vomit.
Greyson Mills I read that as battletoads of aids
TheOnlyRebel The time
"I should be able to do it."
Famous last words.
wow, great video, carl! you're an awesome person when it comes to mario. You just jumped right into my heart !
This video has inspired me to make my next difficult level.
It will feature moles as far as your eyes can see.
It will be amed after the fear of moles, which... I'm not sure if a word for that actually exists.
or just use hammer bros
+Gray Fullbuster That's for skin-moles though, not the animal kind.
And obviously not. A good level needs a lot of time to make. (And in this case, clear)
_"I find getting trolled pretty relaxing"_
Watched the whole thing and enjoyed every second :) well done
dude I just subbed, I love your channel. your streams are the bomb. please keep delivering
+Tanner Harshbarger thanks :)
Lmao I can just imagine the creator of the mole level leaning back in his chair spamming fireballs at the end thinking "Yes, this is a good idea" 😂
Also great video, appreciate the editing to speed things up a bit.
where have you been... I need some humour.
That was so fun to watch, do some more super expert challenges, I died when the moles were dodging over the bricks xD
+Alexandre I will do more soon :D got a few kaizo things to take care of, and then I'll get back to getting trolled by super expert
So this is where the mole rage was born
I don't even really like Mario Games all that much (sorry), but I subbed to you because you're an exceptionally funny guy. (Also, please excuse my username. It's from my cringey middle school phase.)

'I'm developing an intense hatred for moles' the deadly feud began here
I liked seeing the livesplit timer on screen. About how long was this runthrough RTA for reference?
The moles had me laughing for minutes xD
I just look around for titles with mole in the name, purely for my own entertainment.
Mole. Bloody mole. We aren't supposed to talk about the bloody mole, but there's a bloody mole winking me in the face. I want to stomp on it, shell it, and make some guacaMOLE
Hahahhaa guacamole xD I need to use that one.
+CarlSagan42 You need to watch Austin Powers in Goldmember
Nice video man. I really enjoy your videos, congratulation!!
I lost it thinking about Miyamoto waking up in a cold sweat and not knowing why
The benchmark for good 100 man levels is....
"Yeah, that wasn't *f-ing* terrible".... Internet won for today.
This was the start of the mole insanity
jajaja I died of laught when you said "I didn't wa... wait... I do want this" xD funny video
48:02 - that's like, a really messy orgy... all these bodies slamming against each other lol
37:19 right where the coins are above the spikes, you could take a hit and walk through the bridge
+Magos X someone in chat noticed that! getting the feather then spinjumping through the blocks and going down there is definitely the easiest route (prob the dev route)
Carl: I don't want this, i don't want this!!
**Viewers suscribes***
Carl: AAAAEEEEEE WAAAANT THEEEEEEES!!!!!!!
Its always fun to watch the overthinking of levels!
+Dustin K The pressure was too great ;_;
+CarlSagan42 No way! You have excellent Mario skills.....great video!
He's not even mad, just heavily disappointed.
Dude, you're a great player! Nice videos!
these longer vids are really good carl
what buttons do you use to do the twirl-groundpound thing?
You never showed where that P door went. Anyway, what's the problem with the Clown Car combat? I love those levels.
The P door does into a weird backtracking path and it seems totally irrelevant. You can beat the level that way though. I like clown cars sooommeeetimes. Regular sections sure. Navigating spike mazes or bumping into 500 other clown cars though....
Ah, the level that fostered Carl's hatred for moles.
How do you do the Ground pound Cancel Spin? I know how to do the cancel part but not the spin.
+Ganon Stork You just have to press the trigger buttons after it cancels
That mole level would be entertaining to see a speedrun of. *winks*
Please include at least 5 pun jokes in your future videos.
Unoriginal Name lol
nice video big fan always see a video right away when u upload one keep making more and hope u have more subscribers.
+Ricardo Cerna Thank you so much for the nice comment :)
So sad I missed this live stream!! You Rock!!
+Shawniee Cockett-Brown thanks :D
30:41 Carl don't commit to One Direction!!!
I have a fever, and the only prescription is mole cowbell
Hope you feel better soon!
...i'm not sick, its a reference that christopher walken used on snl a long time ago
You know your reference bombed of you have to explain it to ten year olds.
Don't worry I got your joke😂
"If it doesnt make u drink bleach then its a good 100 man lvl" XD
When you get through a level relatively unharmed "that was actually a good level!"
When you get bodied for days "fuck this fucking level"
that mole one was actual, literal, sphincter cancer.
13:54 I completely lost it, had to spit out my drink to avoid choking
Carl What is the move called when you start to do a ground pond then stop mid air
I think most people call it an "air stall" or a "ground pound cancel"
"that's mole like it" (evil grin)
...that grin was evil.
would you say there were 6.022E23 number of moles?
The one enemy to top them-ole

You’re the king of puns!
Holy cow, this is where the mole hatred began!
On the 3rd level, I'm very surprised you didn't figure the fire flower hidden block to exterminate the moles.. However, as you are a pro Mario player I'll let it slide 👌👏! good job Carl!
So where did that P-door go in the SMW level? The one with the horrible checkpoint?
Also, moles are super fun~ :P
it is probably the door that is at the very start of the bottom path
It goes to a top section, and then after completing that you end up at the bottom door that xbubbahotep mentioned.
"This level is MOLElesting me right now." dead.
What kind of controller do you use when playing Super Mario Maker?
He uses a SNES controller.
21:57 is probably my favorite Carl molement of all time.
Nice vid man! keep it up!
Did you ever go back to beat the mole level?
+mizuhonova *shudders* I suppose I should.
Tbh, that mole level is f'n awesome! :D
your puns are.... abys-mole.
I'll go show myself the door.
Carl you're the best
