    Great listing! I have to agree on it. I lived in North Sacramento all my life and grew up there. I was 22 years old when I moved, that was 11 years ago. And I gotta say, those cities on the list are the better ones. I always knew that East Sac is the better city too. I want to move back to Sac County but the cost of living is too much for me. Considering the city that I live in have a lower cost of living but not much jobs opportunities like Sacramento. I have families that lives in Sac and are doing much better in terms of jobs opportunities. I'm considering moving to those cities on your list. Thanks for sharing.

I remember when we first started looking for homes. New constructions were going for as low as 300k. Now, it'd be hard to find anything under 450k. None of the places in this list have a history of catastrophic wildfires but Auburn and El Dorado Hills are the two that are the most likely to be the subjects of small localized fires. The next worst thing all of the neighborhoods in this list will once in a while (1-3 times per year for 1-2 weeks at a time) have to deal with is the smoke that might make its way to us from hundreds of miles away.

    • @NursesToRiches
      @NursesToRiches  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends what your preference is. Monica and I would not enjoy living in Carmichael because, although it has a few nice homes, and a decent school system, it's in a pretty boring part of the Sacramento metropolitan area. It also feels like the lavish/expensive homes coexist right next to homes that look like they belong in a third-world country. If you are comparing city to city, then any city near the Sacramento area is going to be far better (in terms of take home pay) than Austin Texas. I made a video where I broke down the top-paying cities in the US for nurses and Sacramento beats all of them by a long shot, especially when you consider nurses are making up to three times as much per hour here as they are in Austin, and the cost of living here is almost the same as it is in Austin.

      Where I live in East Sacramento, Mercy Hospital is .4 miles away, Sutter Hospital is .8 miles away, and UC Davis Med Center is about 1.5 miles away. Check the area on Google Earth. A lot of the suburban commute times given in this video are either optimistic or maybe based on 3 AM travel times with no cops around. Sacramento area morning and afternoon traffic makes it worth the effort to find a place to live where you won't spend two hours a day being part of stop and go traffic.

    Let's talk rent prices. I'm seeing that in the past few months, Sacramento rent prices have gone up about 10%. My idea, in order to save money for a few years while I pay back the BSN loans and such, is to have a few roommates in an apartment or house. Ideally, this could help keep my rent and utilities to about $800-$1200 per month. Is that do-able in the Sacramento area? Think a few nurses would want to do the same? Even two nurses sharing an apartment would be good, three would really help. Is a nice 3 bedroom apartment under $2100 in Sacramento or surrounding areas something attainable?

      @NursesToRiches  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely. You could find a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment for $1,870 and up. You sound like you have a great plan, though. I have friends that are travel nurses and they have often times shared their rent with roommates, so it's totally doable.

      Elk Grove is diverse with a large Asian population. But the closer you are to the center of Sacramento, the more diverse it gets.

    I lived in Sacramento my whole entire life and if you want the truth, stay away from the top cities on this list. The truth is the more conservative leaning parts such as Roseville/Folsom/El Dorado Hills/Granite Bay is where everyone is. That is where the best shopping is, the best recreation, gyms, and it is safe. In the list, Jason mentioned that he left Roseville due to the lack of diversity. But the truth is, East Sac which he ranked #1 with the Christmas Displays is probably 99% white lol. Unless you actually go to the projects of East Sac. That East Sac part he is talking about is ultra-wealthy white people. As it is in every other major city in California, everyone wants to live in the conservative suburbs. This is the exact same thing in Sacramento. Ask any sacramento native, people will never go shopping at the malls near Downtown. There was a mall in Downtown Sacramento that closed down because of theft and crime. The Arden mall is following in it's footsteps. There's tons of videos on the internet of the Arden Arcade mall having people run in and steal things/fights. The majority go shopping at Westfield Galleria in Roseville and sometimes drive 30+ minutes from places like downtown and Elk Grove to avoid the theft and crime. Everyone who has the finances and has a family to raise, all move to the conservative suburbs. Midtown is expensive, parking is crazy (as expected), and tons of regulations. Midtown is basically Los Angeles but less dense. The best schools in Sacramento are also in the conservative areas. If you're a family person, stay away from those places. If you're single/liberal/want night life, then yea sure, stick to the midtown/arcade area.

      Hi, Thanks for the comment. In the beginning of the video I mentioned that this list is not ranked in any particular order. I also mentioned which way the neighborhood leans politically, how the school systems rank for each neighborhood, and so and so forth. The facts I provided are objective and I gave my opinion on each of the neighborhoods. Sure, the conservative-leaning neighborhoods have good schools and good shopping, but some people also want to live in diverse communities. That's why I mentioned both progressive and conservative neighborhoods with both diverse and monolithic communities. This list is not set in stone and everyone will have their own opinion. That's also why in the title I mentioned that it's a nurse's perspective (i.e. My perspective).

      Exactly! If you want to raise a family, it’s best to go to Roseville, Rocklin, Folsom, EDH, Lincoln, Granite Bay, Loomis, Newcastle-Auburn, Elk Grove, Fair Oaks, Orangevale etc. Would include Davis, but it’s the most expensive and surprisingly most insular. It’s diverse culturally but not economically.
      Woodland, Galt, Citrus Heights, Antelope, Rancho Cordova, Carmichael, Natomas, Yuba City-Marysville, Vacaville-Dixon are more affordable suburbs, very diverse, but many use them as stepping stones on the way to moving up to something more desirable.
      Midtown is for singles or couples, not a family environment. Same for the new developments in Curtis Park. Land Park and East Sac are outrageously expensive, but beautiful, but price prohibitive to families in my opinion. South Land Park/Pocket are more family friendly.
      Politically, the entire region, and the Central Valley itself, with the exception of Davis/Grass Valley-Nevada City, is moderate/conservative, especially when compared to the far left extremes of the Bay Area.

      @@ivandragomiloff2356 hi ivan. Which top 3 cities in Sacramento would you say are the best AND most Diverse areas that are not a stepping stone. We want to stay away from conservative areas but are also looking for decent schools for our child.
      We make 186k per year looking to leave the long beach area. We love long beach because it's progressive and there are many things to do... But too expensive to buy.

    • @ivandragomiloff2356
      @ivandragomiloff2356 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@catdelgado9293 Sorry to break it to you, but Sacramento is more conservative than the Bay Area/LA. But conservative, does not equate with being unfriendly and not diverse. And if you want the best schools, the “conservative” areas have that. Davis would of course be the exception. But Davis is not diverse economically and very monolithic in other ways if we are being honest.
      Roseville/Rocklin and Folsom would be my personal choices. Roseville/Rocklin are more conservative, and the schools are excellent. Folsom is more moderate, excellent schools. I would also say Elk Grove, more diverse, pretty even between liberals and conservatives, very good schools overall. Honestly, don’t be afraid of the conservatives in the area, they don’t push their agenda, are neighborly, tend not to be so judgmental, nor are intolerant.

      Right...Everybody wanting to live in the suburbs must be why 2 bedroom, one bathroom 900 square foot bungalows in East Sac, Land Park, and Curtis Park sell for $600,000. And it's not crime and theft that are killing the malls, it's Amazon.

    I hate moving because it is such a risk.
    You never know what kind of neighbors you'll have or what kind of landlord you may have to deal with.
    In fact the community might have a drug problem and gang activity on top of it.
    All these things are risks.
    I dont get why diversity is such an issue.
    I couldnt careless what someones race is.
    Its their character that counts.

      That zip code is much safer than most other zip codes. But part of the reason for that is because there's a lot of undeveloped land there and you're much farther from civilization than central Rancho Cordova.
