OK thanks for posting this. I did learn some things, BUT the viewers should know that you DON'T have to remove the regulator to change out the motor. Just tape the window UP and reach in and take the 3 bolts out. you don't have to worry about the rotational spring going flying either. it's holding the window in the up position . just leave the regulator bolts in place. I loosened a couple of them just in case they needed to be, but it was very easy and it worked great the first time. I had it done in less time than it took to watch the video.
Thanks a million. I just did it to my truck just loosened 2 bolts from the regulator closest to the motor, then just removed 3 bolts from motor. Pulled it out, installed new motor, tightened bolts and VOILA, 15 minutes later had a working up and down window....
Very informative video. My window on a 98 just fell off the track....didn't break window I hope. This gives me a place to start. Might just upgrade speakers while I'm at it :) Thanks for the post man, I really appreciate it.
Hello we're working on our passenger door on a 1999 Dodge ram 1500 The window will not roll up or roll down we hear the motor try and figure it must need to be replaced cuz it won't move how do we replace it with the window rolled up or what was you suggest we troubleshoot
So, the spring goes flying off when the old motor is removed, then he miraculously installs the new motor on a brand new regulator with spring intact? The video was good up until that point. I need to know how to get my bad motor off without the spring shooting across my garage, and if it does, how do I get the spring reinstalled on my existing regulator? I have the new motor. maybe I should have purchased the new motor already attached to a new regulator and simplify the process. In other words, HELP!
Mine is stuck up and I can’t get the window down I unplugged the window and used a test light and my switch is good it gets power both ways were the window plugs in at. If I need to change my motor again how can I do that with the window stuck up I dk how to get the window down
Some of these parts are made with cheap, weak materials, so be very careful when tightening the bolts. The part I got didn't fit exactly right. It required that I add washers so the drive gear wouldn't bind up on the regulator. Cheap parts. Poor fitment, but I got it working.
@@1AAuto that is what was unclear.... To anyone who runs into the scenario where you can't roll your window down and its stuck in the up position. You can still reach those bolts that hold the window to the guide arms attached to the regulator motor. My process was to loosen the bolts that hold the window to the guides and just keep them snug. I then loosened all the bolts that hold the entire regulator assembly and guides to the door like in this video. I took the bolts in the center out first the one right behind the door handle and then the one below that. Don't remove the bolts on that sit in a slot with a cut out around it. Whenever I took the two bolts on the left side out the window was wanting to move down but I anticipated that and it wasn't bad at all. Just be careful and go slow and mind what you are doing. It's no where near as scary as removing the regulator motor from that torsion spring thing. Good luck!

So you're saying, through the speaker hole remove the motor with the three bolts and it comes off without any recoil?

Window stuck in position. Could it be the switch or motor. Don't want to replace motor unless necessary. Passenger window works fine.
