"Keep Awake" -- 2021 Fauntleroy Church Children's Christmas Pageant

Three children -- Sophie, Eli and Mia -- await the arrival of their cousins from Spokane on Christmas Eve. Instead, their neighbor kids -- Nick and Nora -- are dropped off by their father Joe, as he takes his wife Maria to the hospital for the early unexpected birth of their third child. The cousins -- Ben, Birdie and Ben's friend Sam -- are delayed due to a storm, but eventually they arrive. After some squabbling between the 8 children about who will sleep in whose room, the children agree to spend Christmas Eve sleeping together in the living room. They are sure they can KEEP AWAKE all night until Christmas morning. But they keep nodding off to sleep. During the night the children become actively involved in three "dream scenes" based loosely on stories in the Bible that occurred during the night -- Jacob's Ladder, God calling out to Samuel, and the birth of the Baby Jesus in a stable. The children are guided through the scenes by a friendly Angel, who surprises them on Christmas morning by showing up at the front door, delivering a gift. "Keep Awake" is like an old-fashioned radio play. The children read their scripts and are assisted by a team of kids providing sound effects. Iris plays a singing angel as well as Mom in Scene 8.
Rory plays a singing angel and introduces the play.
