    👏👍. Watching YOU time after time, an old Memory Gem comes to mind…’Whenever a task is set for you, don’t idly sit and view it, nor be content to wish it done , Begin at once and do it.’Big up!! to workers, Dwayne and Andre, who chose hard work over idleness. This isn’t just for those who are building, but for enrichment of vocabulary n knowledge.Good Narrators👏👏👍🙏.

      Yes. The stucco is a bit more work because you have to paint it but for your house you would save a lot of money.

    Our community also demands a specific set of colours of trowel on. We didn't think of using both paint and trowel on. It's an option worth considering.

    • @HackedbyEbanks
      @HackedbyEbanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Based on the cost it definitely is. Hopefully you can find the correct paint bcz this big savings.

    Stucco...I've always seen it on HGTV but never thought of using it instead of the trowel on. It pays to have knowledgeable workers. Wow. The stucco works... my only concern is finding paint that matches the required trowel on colours at my place.

    • @HackedbyEbanks
      @HackedbyEbanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same here, we always see stucco being used on HGTV, however we didn’t realize stucco was available locally. We had the exact paint code for our complex so it was easy to match the color. All the best in finding the exact color.

  • @jr.michaelcrowther7723
    @jr.michaelcrowther7723 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wonderful information!...why not mix the paint with the stucco(since stucco require water) and do one application, instead of applying the stucco then paint it.

    • @HackedbyEbanks
      @HackedbyEbanks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching Michael. The stucco we had was a concrete colour, so it would definitely change the colour of the paint. Also, if we got the white stucco we would require a lot more paint to get that rich green that the paint alone would give.
      We are aware that you can get the trowel-on mixed in the colour you desire but the cost was over our budget.

    • @HackedbyEbanks
      @HackedbyEbanks  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get it finished by plastering with compound. That should get it smooth

  • @steeza1796
    @steeza1796 ปีที่แล้ว

    How many buckets did you guys use for the application?

    • @HackedbyEbanks
      @HackedbyEbanks  ปีที่แล้ว

      We used 9 buckets of Trowel on and then bought 3 box of stucco. The stucco is cheaper and gives more coverage, however you have to add water and mix it, trowel on comes premixed already.

    Did you render the wall before you did the stucco?

    • @HackedbyEbanks
      @HackedbyEbanks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, we did not render the walls, we did roughcast and before it dried they made it smooth enough. Not as smooth as if we rendered.

    Thanks for the video. Very useful information on material cost. What I can’t remember you speaking about is labour cost. How does the labour cost of trowel on compare to stucco given that you will require payments to apply the stucco then again to apply the paint?

    • @HackedbyEbanks
      @HackedbyEbanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      At the time the labour cost was $5,500 per bucket of trowel on/stucco. Also to note, we didn’t have to render our external walls smooth, so we had saved on that material and labour cost.

    Why will you use two different method on the same wall...you should of used just one texture....this is a nice house....but why are you playing with it to spoil it up? I see the different and it does not look good. Next time please don't play with for trial and error sake on a real wall...I don't like the two textures being on the same wall..this will have to be redone

    • @HackedbyEbanks
      @HackedbyEbanks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Vincy. Thanks for your comment. We were not playing for trial and error. We got the recommended texture to match the area but it still did not match. Could be a difference in brand. We’re not sure what happened there, however we have no intention of redoing it. Thanks for the suggestion though.
      The area where we used the stucco is a different area and you cannot notice the difference there. Happy that you could watch and learn from our “mishaps” so the same will not happen to you when you’re doing your own home.

    Looking 🙂only thing ! It was a shame you painted the trowel on ! Because now you will be painting for the rest of thé life of the house as the paint will only last 10 to 15 years max ! And thé trowel on is a life time finish thé tint in it also !! So i dont think you have saved anything at all more thé contrary 😔longterm the original finish would work out much cheaper than repainting regulary labour + materials better to have paiid the extra for the tinted trowel on and not have spend a lifetime of painting cost !!!

    • @HackedbyEbanks
      @HackedbyEbanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Richard thanks for watching. Actually trowel on needs retouching every 10years too as the colour will fade. This was the case with the first layer that was on this house. Also the strata may or may not change the colour within that time.
