I took a couple extra days to figure out how to get some ok-looking external shots. If you enjoyed them, I'll see about doing it for any future gameplay videos going forward
As per usual I'm always impressed with your talent with the XBox controller. I went out and bought an actual XBox controller because the PS5 controller was consistently being used by other people. During my month away from home I practiced whenever I could to become more proficient with a controller, and I had a blast! I keep my controller handy now for mission creation because it's faster to setup than my HOTAS. Great video as usual tuuvas, hope to see more!
Thanks for sharing this video, it was really well done. I liked your extra shots and text on screen to highlight certain points. I thought it was funny is you can see at 13:10, the trucks start to react just before the maverick explodes. One suggestion I have in regards to editing is regarding the cut at 13:01. There should be just a little more time between the cut to the wing and the maverick firing, to make it easier to understand the scene before the action happens. The external shots and storytelling really added too the video.
Thanks for the tip and feedback! Those weapon shots are always difficult to figure out for me, but it makes sense to give the viewer time to understand what they're looking at. It's just so easy to miss when I've been staring at the same clip for hours. As for story telling, I'm glad you think it worked well. Normally I commentate live with the action, but it limits when I can play to avoid background noises. This was a lot easier to manage and allowed me to focus on other elements like external shots and music sync.
Hello, I know I probably will not recieve any help as it has been months since you released this video, but I need help. After opening Task manager and closing input mapper, but I re-open Input mapper and go to devices and my Xbox 1 controller is not showing up. Please help, I want to fly with the Xbox controller whilst my New Hotas is on it's way.
Awesome work!! I was a really long time using my xbox controller to fly with the A-10C so your mouse view emulation to the R stick is a game changer!! Question: I wish to emulate the zoom view to a relative and not an absolute axis, so when I zoom in the view stays there and not go back to its original state when I depress the button. Can be done with steam controller configuration?
Yeah, in steam controller configurator, you setup something called a "soft trigger pull" action. This allows you to bind something to the starting point of an axis pull, and in your case, set this to the keyboard binding for zoom in/out (I believe this is * and / on the numpad). Just keep in mind you'll likely run into problems with activating rudder when all you want to do is zoom in and out. You can probably setup another rule in steam that disables the triggers when a specific button is held - like I do already for left bumper and mouse control
hey man ive been having problems with ds4, the xbox 360 controller does not show up in the controls, rudder doesnt work but the normal controller does work and everything with it, what should i do?
I use an Xbox Core controller, so I have an extra button in the start/select area. I set this as a modifier and use the D-pad for the external, cockpit, f10 map, and weapon views That said, external views in this video was done using DCS' track replay. Purely for you the viewer to have pretty external shots to look at
Unfortunately no, since i don't own the Viggen. What i can do is recommend binding common actions seen across most layouts first (ex. Pitch, Roll, Rudder, Throttle, Flaps, Airbrake, Canopy, Landing Gear, etc), then work on Viggen-specific stuff from there. For example, perhaps thrust reverser on both modifiers+B?
Apologies, apparently I forgot to update Flare and Chaff for the A-10C when I switched over to my new layout creation program. Flare = CMS Forward, Chaff = CMS Aft.

excellent
Nice. Also throw in some bomb/missile views too. Always fun.

I love what you can do with a controller. You my friend are nothing short of awesome!
you're such an inspiration man, love to see more of these videos.
Thanks man, appreciate it. I'll definitely be doing more like this when the new shiny modules come out

do people post the html or the lua for the controller binds
What button do you set to use all the extra camera angles? Or do you use your keyboard for those? Just got dcs still trying to learn

Do you have any tips for setting up Xbox bindings for the viggen?

@@Tuuvas yo thanks
I went ahead and made a quick layout for the AJS-37 Viggen. Check out my usual album
@@Tuuvas I already made a layout using one of your templates but yo thanks for making one! Really appreciate it
what is the name of the keybind for chaff and flare? I cannot seem to find it.

@Tuuvas thanks for the reply. I was able to figure it out thankfully!
Can this be done without Steam? I use standalone. No Steam..
You can add Standalone to Steam as a non-Steam game. That's how I play DCS.
Do you have a video for this setup?
No video. Only the following layout image:

@@Tuuvas thanks
Great video.
Unfortunately I can't set my right stick to "slew". Can you help with that?
Make sure you've bound it as an Axis under Axis Commands. As opposed to a Button under literally any other category
