While I have several GP friends, I very much appreciated the clarity of your introduction to the topic. Thank you and God bless you, Paul

Excellent explanation from you. I was diagnosed with a slight leaky valve last year and no follow up offered. I was told millions of people have this condition and never know, even though I’ve been getting palpitations, racing heart beat, breathless, feeling faint and dizzy. I had a BNP blood test last month and didn’t hear back from my GP so I opened my NHS all and found results..which were all abbreviations. I’d did say pro BNP 259ng/l. Does any one here know what this means please?

Have you tried putting in google. Cleavlend clinic or the Mayo clinic are reliable sources or the British Heart foundation website

After the valve has been replaced, how do you return the heart chamber to its proper sized to avoid heart rhythm issues? I was forced to live with my leaking valve from birth until it almost killed me just before I turned 36 37, I have never been able to hold a job because of it, and I am still out of work and waiting on yet another heart procedure to try, no promises, to get my heart beating right again, due to an enlarged heart chamber. My ex-cardiologist knew of the leaking bicuspid aortic valve from the day he took me on as an adult patient, despite this, he left it in me until as I said, it almost killed me via heart failure, my life is a living hell as a result, no job, no money, stuck on benefits, possibly for the rest of my days.

Better get a Cardiologist to do an Echo, you can drop dead. Push your doctor or a second opinion. Mine got mad but it was my body not his.

also stop having any sugar. Remove all sugar from your life. Not easy but doable. Research on google for more info. Took 10 days for sugar withdrawal and legs returned to normal.

So as a general rule you would not do a TAVI (or TAVR) on a 70-year-old patient with Aortic Regurge and a mild Mitral Valve Regurge, even if that patient is otherwise in good health and physical condition? Primarily because you want to avoid warfarin?

TAVR would be a great option for an 70 year old
