Thanks for the video. Im having mitral valve surgery soon. Im 53. Fit. Had a successful cardioversion after developing permanent AF after exercising almost a year ago now. Your video on this ( and others) is greatly appreciated. You are very reassuring and knowledgeable. Thank you for what you do.
Many thanks. I presume they are planning possible AF ablation and left atrial appendage closure too? Let us know how you get on. We would love to hear from you 👍🏽
@@Thekeyholeheartclinic Hi Mr Birdi, you were correct on the three above procedures. Mr Hunter at Sheffield General performed them. The operation didn't go very well due to a bleed at the back of my lung which was hard to find. Although the mitral valve repair did " go very well". I was in theatre twice and sedated for just under 24 hrs which initially knocked my recovery back. I was in hospital for 6 days but reacted badly to the drugs given. I was a mess for a further 2 weeks at home but I quickly turned it around when they were discontinued. Now 28 days out I'm walking with my dog for 45 minute stretches and lightly exercising to bring my fitness back to what it was before. I wish to thank you for the videos you post, they are a great source of information and encouragement as i waited for the op, and I wouldn't hesitate to send anybody who finds themselves in my situation to your website and very capable hands. Best regards from a new member of the heart club.
This is interesting,,,I had elongated papillary muscles, went for mitral valve repair(splitting and shortening of papillary muscles with patial annuloplasty). I might need another surgery as as it's regurgutating mildly again. Is minimal invasive re-repair possible in my case??
Hello and thanks. Dehydration no but low blood volume can create a condition called systolic anterior motion producing leak which is correctable with proper correction. Mild leak needs to be monitored.
Dr Thanks for the clarification onMR with respect to dehydration. In the clarification you had said low volume of blood creates leak and can be corrected. Can it be corrected by medicines and magnesium rich food?.Regarding trivial regurgiation you had indicated to be monitored. How to monitor at home?. Kindly clarify.Regards,V.karunakaran
Sir my mom 63yrs, she had MVR with perimount magna ease 29mm mitral valve in 2012. Company assured 20 yrs. But gone in 12 yrs Now Leaflets are calcified and degenerated and leaflets not opening properly severe stenosis ppg/mgp 27/15 in AFIb No MR or leak. She had CMV in 1987. Is enough data available for sapein 3 ultra resilia TMVR please ? Which surgery is best for her please
The data for tavi in mitral Position is even worse to be honest. No tissue valve can last 20 years in a 51 year old person on balance of probabilities. If she is fit she should consider redo mini thoracotomy mv replacement
Had clips in septemberl repair mytral valve but still have a slight leak. I was told it was torrential. Am being treated for af too. What is my outlook feel my age is against me im 75?
I am nearly 75,After hospital tests,I was told I had a leak in my heart valve, and was told they will send for me in 2 years for another test,Is this normal to wait that long?

Thanks for sharing. Yes sir. If you has breastbone before then the easier method to get the the mitral valve is by keyhole
Dr .very useful vidieo on MR. Does dehydration cause Mitral valve prolapse. Is Mitral regurgiation trivial cause of concern

Dr your comments required on the above query
Fascinating
Do you have low blood pressure due to leaky mitral valve?
Not usually

Thank you Dr. My doctor here is pushing for TMVR sapien ultra , she is very week.
Sir she also developed infective endocardities..is mechanical value is best or prostetic value
Dr Does Mitral valve prolapse lead to sinus tachycardia?
It can. Over time it also creates a serious heart rhythm disorder called Atrial Fibrillation which can cause stroke and heart failure
Thanks Dr for your clarification

Is the leak torrential now or slight?
I am nearly 75,After hospital tests,I was told I had a leak in my heart valve, and was told they will send for me in 2 years for another test,Is this normal to wait that long?
Good question. It depends upon how severe the leak is.
@@Thekeyholeheartclinic they said is was mild to moderate ,So can it get worse before the 2 years is up,which is 17 months away now
