I owned a 2008 DB9 for 3 years. It was not my daily driver but it was simply the most beautiful car I had ever seen and I had to own at least once in my life.
The build quality was amazing and that V12 sound was amazing. The major fault was the maintenance cost which was eye-watering.
You’re right about the Vantage; the proportions are not quite right, especially the grille shape.
The DB9 driver seats needed another inch of rearward adjustment for a 6’-1” driver.
Conclusion: loved it, but once was enough.

I have 2 favourite car channel hosts - both are Poms, I have to admit ! Matt and Harry (Harry's Garage).
Between the 2 you get real world reviews, unbiased, non USA over hype...and not 75% devoted to track drives which have little to no relevance for we normal drivers. And with Matt his material is particularly relatable and practical - and as a northerner he's almost an Aussie ;-) .
Long may Matt and Harry keep doing reviews. Oh, and many thanks gentlemen.

Another excellent review Matt and I agree with most of your observations but 9:25 a couple of things: I had a DB9 this year for about 6 months. The maintenance costs were eye watering, the fit and finish wasn’t great and the tyre noise and ride were too harsh for a GT. However, it had more presence than any other car I’ve owned and walking towards it made me grin like a schoolboy. Would I buy one again? No. Am I glad I’ve shared the experience? Yes! Another cracking review Matt. Keep it up in 2023. Your down to earth, unpretentious style is refreshing. Thank you.

So sad when you have to settle. 😉
Fun Fact: In that Bond film where he rolls the Aston, they tried numerous time to get the car to flip. They used another brand of high-end luxury vehicle for testing out the stunt. That one rolled easily. But when it was the Aston's turn, it simply refused to do so.... at any speed. So, they fitted the bottom of the car with a large pneumatic device that could be instantly deployed at the press of a remote control button. It shot out from the bottom of the car, and then she flipped.
    Merry Christmas, Matt. 🎄

Hi Matt, well done on the review. The watch was a nice touch! As an owner of a 2009 DBS with a manual, I must challenge the myth of the clutch being a problem. It's not hard drive drive at all, unless it's worn out, or the driver doesn't know how to drive a manual properly. When you first have a go, you will notice the clutch bite point is a bit high. Other than that, it's like any other manual. Don't abuse it. I'm the fourth owner of my DBS. Purchased it in 2017 with about 16,000 miles on it. It now has over 63,000 miles. I changed the clutch at 27k miles, and I'm still on the same clutch - no issues, so a lot more than 15k miles on a clutch. I drive the car fairly aggressively on winding mountain roads, but I don't abuse the clutch. Tried a DB9 GT before I bought the DBS, and although it some nice updates, it wasn't what I was looking for (no manual). Took me 2 years of searching to find a manual DBS in the spec I wanted, but it was worth the wait. I'm glad I held out for the DBS. If you get a chance to drive a manual DBS, make sure it's a well-maintained example. If you like the auto DBS, but enjoy a more sporting drive, you owe it to yourself to try a proper manual. For those who want a DBS but can't afford it, a good condition DB9 is a lot of the fun for a lot less money. Both are great cars.

I’ve owned a 2005 DB9 since 2018, exporting it to Italy (just before Brexit) and drive it on nice days, often to work, feeling like a school boy trying to be Bond…! I have 3 kids too, and they enjoy its exotic sound almost as much as I do. Mine is the Touchtronic and I think it suits it’s GT style and character perfectly…when you get to know it well you can interact with the paddles playfully at just the right revs to enjoy! And, in Italy…it’s rarity makes it feel even more special (branch….😉).

    Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Y. E. S., And one can listen to the engine noise and watch the video, which is your best so far. F**king loved it! Keep up the good work Matt, and Merry Christmas!

Epic video for Christmas. I am glad I don't know too much detail about car parts - finding a Fiesta part on a super car might lead to the odd sleepless night!

One of my favourite cars ever. I wouldn't have my wheel centers in black though. I'd constantly be expecting a call from the 80s, wanting their style back.

Matt.....I just bought a new 4k monitor for crimbo, and this was the first screening it has had.
    I am 17 seconds in and i just literally shit a cat!🤣
Thought my £1000 new purchase was shagged, but it was your intro....lol
Merry Christmas young man, thank you for all your time, effort and professionalism in giving us muppets the benefit of your knowledge.
    Superb channel.
Love the fact you included the limited edition 007 Omega submariner watch as well....classy, have one myself. What better partnership than Omega and DBS.
    More watches Matt please.

Yes, DB9 every single day for me. I do recall, however, back in 2017 I organised a "run-out" for the Midlands section of a well known motoring forum. One of the guys that pitched up was driving a black DBS. It was de-catted and it sounded the billy bollocks! Didn't sound as good as the Lola T70 Spider that also joined the convoy after the mid-way stop at a Shropshire airfield. 7 litre V8's with open pipes tend to do that....

Hi , one of the few cars where people will let you out at road junctions , and small kids on pedestrian crossings , tug on their parents hands and point and wave , pull out on to a motorway and people move out of your way, but you have to keep your foot down hard to give them what they expect ? which will keep your fuel bill high . An amazing experience just to be a passenger in one going to the boat show every year to see what Sunseeker has to offer . 🤔👍👍👍 .

Just like Bond, all very tongue in cheek, but the car really is something else. In my opinion, the Aston Martin DB 9 is the best looking and sounding car in world. Just stand back and look at it, just WOW !

Great video and dead pan delivery as always. What a terrific way to get from A to B at 15 mpg. I confess that i actually thought for a second or two the DBS had 68 plates screwed to its front and rear, not 58 plates - that is the measure of the Aston's timeless good looks rather like our turtleneck wearing Bondesque host. Keep up the good work sir.

I thought I was the only one that spotted the Explorer 11 missing, until I read the comments.
However I think the Omega was shown more than the Aston in fairness.
Thanks for another great video, looking forward to the next.
Wishing you and yours a Happy & Healthy New Year.
