  • "In the journey of Alzheimers, both my mother's journey and my family caring for her and watching this wonderful woman start to fade away, like a ship that's disappearing into the mist, ever so slowly but ever so surely . . . propelled by some implacable wind that you can't control and yet you have to face it . . . for me, the only way to face it was with faith."

His voice was so comforting, his words were moving.
This was challenging. My mom lives in another country, I see her 2 weeks out of a year.
I called her this week to say my regular hello, this time I sang “I just called to say I love you…”. She knew the words.
She does not have Alzheimer’s, but we see many aspects of decline.
    Anyway thank you both…

Something about music resonates with us . . . a timeless gift you gave to your mom.

One more thing! The dog made me smile and smile. So glad Mr. Grinnan positioned his camera to show her. 😊

A very interesting and informative interview. Mr. Grinnan has wisdom that has come from his life that we can all learn from. It does take a team. It's so difficult to caregive on your own. Not all of us have the same disability in our family. I learned how to talk to my relative by listening to my friend and how she so kindly spoke to her mom. Talking to them correctly is really important and how true it is that it lessens anxiety and stress. Thank you! This was an excellent and very thoughtful interview.

Always wonderful to hear from you. The gentle authenticity and wisdom shared is so needed for all of us. I love your comment, “learned how to take . . . by listening to my friend . . .”.
How much more we can learn as we listen to Jesus who speaks hope and love amid our sorrow and despair. Appreciate you always!

Amen. Glad you mentioned the powerful name of JESUS. Mr. Grinnan (as does "Guideposts" -- "spiritual" and "faith" are used A LOT in that publication and they could mean any number of un-Biblical things, thus, doing more to prevent than to help an unsaved person to believe in Jesus as Savior)
said a lot of good things, but Jesus was almost not mentioned at all. "The way and the truth and the life" needs to be ALWAYS mentioned whenever possible (without being obnoxious).
Good for you to honor Jesus by "speaking the name."@@reframingministries

    EXCELLENT interview. Thank you!
Re: the St. Augustine quote, I disagree with Augustine (or, perhaps, simply misunderstand him). Miracles are not possible because of aspects of nature unknown to us. Miracles are done by nature's Creator. They are impossible in the natural course of things. They are done by God.
I'm up on my soapbox, here, because the quote implies that the power/mechanism for miracles is found inside nature (we just haven't identified how it works), thus, leaving God out of the picture.

WOW. Praise the Lord. Yes! Those "two men in suits" WERE angels. No doubt. Wow. So cool to get to hear of how God took care of her.
