      It's either autopilot disconnect or that the aircraft is nearing the programmed autopilot altitude

      Its the Altitude Alerting System. So whenever you approach your preset altitude by 1000ft this chime will sound :)

      Close but not quite. It's an altitude deviation warning. The altitude is preset to the go-around altitude and since the autopilot is off it gives a warning as the aircraft descends through that altitude toward the airport. It's a gentle reminder that you are flying through a preset altitude in case you 'forgot' to level off.
