I first heard this song the day I attended the Women's March in DC. I listened to it over and over, sometimes sobbing... because I finally, for the 1st time, heard someone singing exactly how I felt! From start to finish, this song helped me make large strides in my healing journey. This video is so very different from the video I originally saw, a couple years ago. It looks like you also found some healing through this journey. That is wonderful to see. Thank you for having the courage to share this at the March, thank you for having the bravery to let us in and begin our own healing. Wishing you peace and love. #heartnetwork2020

So many of us have been there. I don't know how many times I can say "thank you" for writing this song. Maybe the collective chorus will be able to express it. I hope so. Crying right now, again, with gratitude.

So.. that just made me cry. The dad taking his daughters hand and spinning her around, ugh.. broke me down. Thank you, this is a beautiful video and I love this song. I will download the new version today. I have the older one already and I blast it many times during my drive to and from work. ❤️❤️❤️

This song is very powerful. Especially when it happened to you. Happened to me my whole life growing up and even still when I was 40. Was afraid to tell anybody cuz the guy that did it to me was my moms husband. He told me that if o ever told anybody, that he would laugh in my face cuz he has family in the police dept. Wtf?

Ive been sexually assaulted 7 times 5 times by my brother and once from my old best friend and once from a roommate in a mental hospital. I am a survivor and I am tired of having to forgive them while I can’t forgive myself. I’ve listen to this song for a long while and I am a survivor and will never let someone do that to me and be quiet.

Have you ever considered CBT, sorry im not promoting anything, I promise, I just generally want to help those who have been through trauma. Im not even a CBT therapist but I have used CBT myself, also you can break that chain, you can gain the tools in order to protect yourself, you didn't deserve any of that, you didn't make it happen, you certainly can prevent it ever happening again, unfortunately we live in a world where these things are hidden and it shouldn't be that way cause in truth you are set free. Much love to you, sometimes validation is the only thing you need. x

I found this after watching New Amsterdam today. I was straight up ugly crying as I held my 9 week old daughter who had finally fallen asleep as the song played. Such a strong message and such a source of strength for so many. Music speaks to us on so many levels and helps say the things we find hard to any other way. I’ve already had to play this twice more today to get my daughter to sleep and each time I cried because of the video and message. 💕

I sang this song last year at my schools talent show. I was a sophomore at the time and was inspired when I saw MILCK at Hello Sunshine in Cincy. I planned on singing A Little Peace this year, but my talent show was canceled due to the pandemic. I'm known as the "feminist girl" who speaks out during a fun, extracurricular, event. Every year, my dad joins me on stage (he went to Hello Sunshine too). Next year, as a senior, I plan on performing If I Ruled the World. MILCK, you have no idea how much you have inspired me. I carry on your message to my somewhat conservative town. I just wanted to thank you, because you're music has allowed me to grow in confidence.

The first time I heard this song was at a fundraiser event to raise awareness for human trafficking. I was helping backstage with the costumes and this song just really made such an impact. This week the woman who sang this song at the event died tragically. It was an event that she had organised and participated in, sharing her passion for helping people. She was an inspiration and a rock to so many people, forever a shining light and always willing to help where she could. This song will now also serve as a reminder of who she was and what she stood for, for many years to come.

    Put on your face
    Know your place
    Shut up and smile
    Don't spread your legs
    I could do that
But no one knows me no one ever will
If I don't say something, if I just lie still
Would I be that monster, scare them all away
If I let them hear what I have to say
I can't keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh
I can't keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh
A one woman riot, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
    I can't keep quiet
    For anyone
    Anymore
Cuz no one knows me no one ever will
If I don't say something, take that dry blue pill
They may see that monster, they may run away
But I have to do this
I can't keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh
I can't keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh
A one woman riot, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
    Oh I can't keep quiet
Let it out, let it out now
    Let it out now
    There'll be someone who understands
Let it out, let it out now
    Let it out now
    Must be someone who'll understand
Let it out, let it out now
    Let it out now
    There'll be someone who understands
Let it out, let it out now
    Let it out now
I can't keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh
Let it out, let it out now
    Let it out now
I can't keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh
Let it out, let it out now
    Let it out now
    I can't keep quiet
    No, I won't keep quiet

This song fits the movie Fresh Kills so well. Especially due to Rose's story arch. At one point her aunt tells her she wasn't quiet because she was shy, but she had too much to say. Referring to the fact that she was in a mafia family where they couldn't talk openly about all the illegal activity the men were up to, and if they were critical of their patriarch for putting them through so much trauma then they'd be shamed.
Heartbreaking movie, but worth a watch if you get a chance. Ya don't often see mob movies from the females' perspectives.

I was always quite. I still am. And I've been asked to stay quiet. To keep my family together I still am. But it hurts me every moment of my existence as expected. I don't think I'll ever truly speak up in this life, but I'm glad this song exists because it calms the hurt. It lets me speak out in my head atleast. So thank you so much for unintentionally being a voice for me and many others 💜

I hope with time and support, you can find your voice. I was molested as a child in the 60's. My parents knew but it was kept hidden. I was so young I didn't recall the incident until 25 years later. I wasn't even sure if it had happened. I asked my mother and she confirmed that it had and apologized for how it was handled. She too had been sexually assaulted as a child.
Times change and so can we.

Im in physical therapy at the moment. My girlfriend left me 2 weeks into my injury, I came onto this song today....
The hardest thing I find is to talk to people no matter how close they are to me because they would run away if I did say something. Everytime I think I've got someone that won't leave and I open up then they do.
I hate that things are happening right now that make me cry that I cant even stop even though I try so damn hard.
    This song hit me hard....

The best thing happening in the world today is people who have been silenced for too long have had enough and are finally finding allies in the empowered community willing to stand next to them. It is past time that we all stand up and demand that all people are treated with compassion and decency.

Something I want to say to my 15 year old self
I want to tell you... it wasn't your fault so stop blaming yourself..., neither was it mom's or dad's for leaving you in his house. It is going to be tough but it doesn't hurt after sometime, maybe sometimes it does and you get a burst of emotions. You turn numb, so try to be cheerful. Don't hurt yourself cause that shit takes time to heal. Don't waste 5 years of your life holding back your tears and crying in silence. Don't get hurt when your parents blame you...... it's just who they are. You are alone but you always have me.
