There are so many Cthulhu RPG variants. So this version is its own system. Interesting. I’ve played Cthulhu Dark and it seems a lot more streamlined than this. Actually I’ve always been impressed how easy BRP Cthulhu is to introduce to new players. I’ve never GM but played it heaps and there’s not much to it at all other than percentile Skill checks. So not sure where this game fits in (although the adventures look cool). I wonder if the game plays out Lethal or Pulpy? Perhaps the latter given you can climb a sheer wall during a tornado at only disadvantage 🐙

It really depends on what you want. I use this because we only do one shots of call of Cthulhu style games or short campaigns. If coc is your main game then this probably wouldn't be for you.

This is really good for one-shots as its pretty simple regarding char gen and no clutter on the character sheet, compared to the current version of Call of Cthulhu.
Chaosium has better setting book resources however.
Cthulhu Hack plays just as quick as Call of Cthulhu at the table, but has no skill bloat or character sheet congestion to get in the way of visualising a character
You could easily 'pulp' Cthulhu Hack up quite easily, and in some ways I it is a better engine for this. However if you leave it RAW it plays just as deadly as Call of Cthulhu, perhaps more so.

Thanks for the review. Seems like a very "cheap" and "poor" book inside, with just text on white pages, compared to other editions like Chaosium or Miskatonic editions of Cthulhu. What did tou think?

This version doesn't feel cheap to me.
It does look perhaps too 'clean' though, but the art plates are quite good.
I dislike the lime green page TY borders though, these should of been grey or black to be keeping with the tone of the setting.
