I said it before we got griezmann. He doesn’t fit at all. Not fast enough to really play winger, and wouldn’t really complement Suarez and Messi. The alternative that summer was neymar back to Barca, for I think the same price. Griez is a great player, but barto was an idiot to sign him

@@hasannaseem2676 yes defense is a problem, has been since 2016, maybe even before that, when the dutch exposed the spanish defense in brazil, but griezmann, messi and coutinho all want to occupy the same space in midfield! When barca were looking for a possible ney replacement, they also looked at dybala, but dybala in 2017(?) Realized this and actually said in an interview he and messi both look for the same spaces to run in in midfield!
It was never gonna work, as you need players fast players who makes lots of runs into the box to provide depth and keep the balance in a squad…

That’s why henry and eto’o, villa pedro worked, and even neymar made lots of runs on counter attacks, instead of dribbling and doing samba futbol and cutting into midfield. He was clinical in 2015!

Griezmann would be a perfect fit for City. if i was City, i'd offer to take him on loan for 1 season and pay half his salary. i doubt Barcelona will get a better offer than that. as good as Griezmann is, there's no teams in the market for him except Atletico. but they can't afford to pay his full salary so they'd probably want a similar deal anyways.

I think Alejandro doesn't understand leverage. In a two-bid market, Barca is in the position he describes....but this isn't a two-bid market. Chelsea might think like him...but then they realize City, United, Liverpool, PSG, Munich, Juve might beat their lowball offer or Arsenal, Spurs, Inter, Dortmund, could see an opening and bid big.
In a multi-bid market, the value as an asset is determined by the asset itself, hence why Griezmann is not at a discount, whereas Bale is

Good management in Barca - getting those 3 players on a free. Salary cap, perhaps that's what's needed all across Europe, especially Premiership. A soft wage cap, if team goes over then has to pay additional (steep) annual tax(payments) to the league.

The big issue of Barcelona during this pandemic (next to the mismanagement of Bartomeu) is that Barcelona as a members club cannot get a capital injection unlike the other clubs. This is the big issue that the analysis misses out on.

@@chandannaidu96 Absolutely correct. His basic salary is only 12mil. It's the add ons and incentives that sent it up to 20mil. The cap is 300mil. Griezmann's salary is not causing a problem here at 3% The problem is them having 32players but Messi alone was on 60mil which was 20% of the cap. If they get rid of the players they don't use, they will drop under cap.

Selling him will be a mistake , he had good season last year .... better negotiate salaries first with him than selling him to other clubs .... meanwhile dembele and philippe coutinho have been unproductive they should be sold first by hook or crock .... I liked Griezmann a lot last season though his performances in bigger matches needs some improvement but still he shows promise in forward , linkup and defense work also . Messi is aging and he can be perfect replacement of him some matches when we will be resting messi .

Imagine being so bad at management that you spend hundreds of millions of Euros on a player with minimal impact, only to be forced to sell him for chump change a few years later
