What's the speed on the elevator straight to the obs deck? It did not seem that fast to me and I was very surprised. The Hancock building felt quicker at 1800fpm, along with the Wilshire Grand in Los Angeles with the double deckers moving at 1800fpm plus. I wish I could have been able to go up the building to the sky lobby and walk around a bit. So much is missed when you are locked out of things.,
@@SPS8elevatorsoflakecounty I was there back in 2018 - time flies! I heard stories of the Sears tower elevators having the speed reduced because of people getting sick. I was expecting them to move faster than that! Is it the sky deck elevators along with the office elevators that are moving at 1800fpm now?
@@SPS8elevatorsoflakecounty if they go 1600 ft/min, they would take way less than 30 seconds to reach the 67th floor. I did ask Johnny and he told me that because he used a speed app to test and see if those actually go 1600 ft/min. As for the Skydeck ones, they go 1600 ft/min, not 1800 ft/min
You know I think the old cars only go 1000 to 1200 fpm. It takes over a minute on the old cars compared to the new ones. The new cars however definitely go 1600 fpm. Probably just a speed increase.

When did you go? They used to only be 1600 FPM but they sped them up to either 1800 or 2000 with this new mod

Those are cool! There’s no place near me that has skylobbies. Lol. I’ll have to see these next time I come to Chicago.
The Miami Tower in Miami, JPMorgan Chase Tower, Wells Fargo Plaza and Williams Tower in Houston, and the Columbia Center in Seattle have skylobbies
Need to get to these so badly when I return in the summer. So close to 2000 fpm lol
The upper and lower cars each have 4500 lb capacities, so that’s why they have a 9000 lb capacity.
Finally someone calls it Sears and not Willis
I'm a man of culture
@@SPS8elevatorsoflakecounty Time is a funny thing... I still call Aon "Big Stan"... but that probably just makes me look old at this point...
Dana Danarosana haha I Call it big Stan sometimes!
Equally, i like both the old and new cabs!
By the way, the certificates are wrong. They actually go 1200 ft/min
No, these go 1600.
