    Hello Dr. CEE,
Following on from part 8 on the ASBD series, this RSAP tutorial is so satisfying to watch. Thank you for planning and for producing the two videos as you have done.
After seeing that ASBD goes further to even “pattern the live loads cases” for the user and can also generate “loads combinations” using these “patterned live load cases”……
Is this something that RSAP can also do? Can the user for example initially apply the live loads and permanent loads across different designated areas on the surface of the slab as one would normally do (without considering loading patterns); and then later when considering loading patters “tell RSAP” which live loads cases to pattern on the same slab surface and in accordance to the results of the various generated influence surfaces contours in RSAP?
Thank you so much for this video, it was a real pleasure for me to watch.
Keep well and kind regards, DK

      Hi there Engr. DK,
It worked out great having those two tutorials published in quick succession. I am happy you find those beneficial.
For RSA, it cannot unfortunately, for a good reason:
when ASBD generates the Interaction Surfaces (IS) it does so for every single point on a selected beam. This enables it to know exactly where to place the load to maximize the bending moment on each point on the beam.
RSA does not do that. More accurately, it does not have the automation needed to perform such a thing. A user could do it manually (like adding multiple points, followed by creating a case adding a load - BTW there was an "add load button" which I forgot to mention in the video).
But this is faaar far to hard to pull off successfully.
IMHO, I think this works for the simplest of structures where you already have a good guess where the moments are going to be max and how to place the loads, but need some extra insights to place the loads in a 3D environment.
In case of any follow up questions, please let me know. I am currently working on the continuation of the pile series, so expect more videos on that very soon.
      Regards,
      CEE

Thank you for the feedback and for the highlights on RSAP influence surfaces functionality limitations compared to ASBD.
Yah, at least for now, the functionality that is currently available in RSAP is plenty something and it certainly helps with where to (manually) start.
Thanks for also pointing out the “add load button”
I am looking forward to the continuation of the pile series and of the other series, keep up the excellent work as always.
      Regards, DK
