You don't need to murder him to progress Astarion's quest, you just need to learn that Cazador is looking for him. In fact if you don't kill him, you get special cut scenes with him in act 3.

But that's just my opinion, and that's the awesome thing about this game, there are so many ways to play it and your choices have so many far reaching consequences that shape the story and make them unique for each playthrough ^_^

Is this before act 3? Cause I never met this guy and I’m pretty far into astarion quest, at least I think I am.
@@toastappreciator2691 This guy pops up in Act 1, immediately to the left of the hag's house up a small path. Easily missable.
