Just did a dog sledding trip in Lappeasuando for 2 days with Marcus, awesome! Next time for sure the six day tour! Have fun on your trip next week! Make another video pls
It was! After this I have gone back 6 times. I had no idea how important that week away from the "real world" would be. No cell phones, no electricity, no internet. It's amazing how unplugging from your day-to-day life can reboot your outlook
@@FocusOnAdventure I'm really envious, especially since i love dogs and snow :) well unfortunately as times are with covid and shit i won't be making such a trip soon ): but i have a beautiful lab at home, again nice video
@HoleInTheHead I loved your narration for Marcus. Spot on. What a badass. Also, how cool was that adventure? To not only meet new people, but to bond with the dogs as well. And such great dogs. Not even mentioning the experience.
Yes Marcus is truly a legend! Unfortunately he’s retired from being a full time guide. I’m hoping to talk him into a couple more trips here and there. The first trip I went on was by myself, but the people I met were amazing. We keep in touch through the summer and some of us return every year for another adventure. It’s great going out with 7 good friends. Doesn’t look like 2021 will happen, might have to skip a year.
Cool, liked the music too, but then I like most of those musical artists you use. I have a dog sled, but don't have enough dogs. They pull me on my bicycle and snowskates.
This kind of tours should be done at many places around the world with local dog breeds that love running or very high energy individuals. Maybe the sled could be something more like a bicycle. To help the beginners and un-experienced people could be used some kind of tandem frame, side-car or a front cargo bicycle. The match with nature and empowering experience for the visitor should be a new way to see self improvement and relate each other.
I live in Mexico city (temperate weather, rainy summer, cold nights and cold early mornings, cold to very cold winter). The hotter time can be found at spring and summer afternoons and even in the first middle of those nights. I promote the sledding behavior with my dogs. The first time it was with an akita and a mix (napolitan mastiff+akita). Those two male dogs loved to run and pull with all their heart, mind and soul. Nowadays my sister helps dog shelters to find new owners for some dogs and she chose two females to live with my parents, one is a malinois shepherd and the other is kind of a pit-bull. Both of them love to run like crazy, very very energetic, right next to a bicycle. They don't stop to smell every tree or make marks, evenly they rarely stop to release their digestive system content. And they always start running as hell after any stop lapse. I use a regular chest harness and a double 8 mm dynamic rope with two single lock carabiners. We have been training a 6 to 10 Km (3.6 to 6 miles) route every two days. And we have increased the route to 12 Km one every six sessions. The route is very hilly and, apparently, they don't like much middle day sun and temperature. Now that colder days are coming, I will try to improve their comfort choosing better time of the day, every time. I hope, with proper fitness training, we can reach easy going 20 Km (13 miles) soon.
Nice video! Was there electricity in the cabins to charge your gopro batteries? I'm doing this soon and want to make sure I don't run out of juice. Cheers :)
No I had a Canon 60D for the time-lapse sequences. I never tried out the GoPro for any night photos. But I was using something like a 10 second exposure every 20 seconds for a couple hours.
How many batteries? I did a day of dogsledding with my GoPro and battery life really sucked in the cold =) Any tips for next time? (I'm very amateur - first time with the GoPro)
Seem to me Hass-an was making a point & telling you not to go through that slushy area, Some areas in Sweden have just as Norway & Denmark a polluted river even thought some ponds whereof the thaw slush can hurt their paws, you'll notice when it hurts when they start moving their feet as of they would dance in the snow. Take care
Yeah it was a tough spot. Since I was last in line the trail was in the worst condition and more spots had filled with water. The teams at the front of the line were able to make it through with less effort. The dogs don't exactly "listen" to the tourists and are trained to just follow the sled in front, so I didn't have the option to blaze a new path. We probably did about 5 miles that day, had 3-4 spots like seen in the video, so it was small sections of the overall day but very tough spots. I've been on 7 trips and that remains the hardest day by far (this video is my first trip). Our guide, Marcus, has always said that day remains the most difficult he's had over his career. He's the most experienced guide in the region and if there was another option he would have found it. So it's very unusual, we just got unlucky with conditions. As for the water, I certainly hope it's not polluted as that's our drinking water for the week! And yes I do think the water hurts their feet, as it will freeze between their paws and many times on breaks they will lick their feet trying to clear it. Thanks for watching!
Hi! I would like to make a video of dogs doing what they were bred to or having fun doing sports to show how important it is to work and stimulate a working bred dog. I was wondering if I could put some of this video into my video? I'll be sure to give you credit 😊
Hi. This is an older video, I can’t change the music at this point. This film from the same location has better music: th-cam.com/video/E9ja0exFzdo/w-d-xo.html

There's not much you can do if you get out on the trail and get caught in a bad spot you didn't see coming. The deep snow covered the trail and we couldn't see where the water was. You help the team as much as you can and give the dogs lots of patience. Our guide also called in a snowmobile to drive ahead of us and make a better trail. We cut the day short and got back to base camp as quick as we could so that the dogs could rest.
Am Pm309 thanks for that lovely comment. I made this many years ago before TH-cam had agreements with music publishers and so most songs were straight up blocked. I had limited choices. Also I wasn’t very good at filming and editing back then. I have better and more recent videos of the same region on another channel. FocusOnAdventure.
The video , the scenery is amazing!!! The music is awful!!! Cant stand it!! Because of the fact we want to experience exactly what you have experienced, next time please let the natural sounds to be heard. The dogs barging, the people talking , the sounds of the nature.....that's what its all about! Do not put any music....it is not needed.
Yup, I know. It’s an old video I made before I knew better. TH-cam doesn’t let me change music after uploading. I have several other videos of the same region with much more ear pleasing sounds/music if you’d like to check those out.
Yes I know, the music is horrible. Here's a more recent, and more ear-pleasing, video of the same location: th-cam.com/video/E9ja0exFzdo/w-d-xo.html
Loved the video, leave the music totally out and let us enjoy the sounds along the trail.

what a workout for the dogs
They love it. They're born to run. Look how excited they are in the morning for another experience for them too. They love to go fast together.

Looks fun!
Very nice! How did you film this? My fiancé and I might be doing some dog sledding and we'd love to catch it on film.
Sport stupendooooo.
lol i like how one of the dogs left your legs on my 2ed day of the beggining, then you said "Whoops!" xD LOL
Your dogs are more lean. Are they Siberian Huskies? Very nice looking dogs!
WOW .... AWESOME TRIP! :)
You would think 4 dogs is too small of a teem but they have no problem and what do i know
