  • A year ago, Ballet Fantastique premiered their production of Robin Hood to the music that I wrote and produced. I am going to be posting a few pieces from the ballet to show how the choreography and music came together in such a beautiful way!
It was a unique and exciting experience working together with the dancers to write and conceive the music at the same time as the dance was being created. They sent me musical examples and we spoke often about their vision for each piece. I would go back to the studio and try to capture what they were hearing. I’d send it over; they would send notes and it would go this way until we were all happy with the final results.
What made the process fun and exciting is that BFan pushes artistic boundaries and is not scared to try something that is different, out of the norm and has never been done before. If you want to see Swan Lake done for the umpteenth time or your stock number of pirouettes, then BFan is not for you. If you want choreography that integrates other dance styles, unique costumes made by hand, musical and dramatic interpretations of traditional stories that give them a fresh look then BFan is for you. As a composer, I have been pushing musical boundaries with my world music group Incendio, Carbe and Durand duo and with much of the production music that JP and I write for TV and film for a very long time, so working with BFan on this score was a perfect fit. Ballet Fantastique is directed by Donna and Hannah Bontrager, and I love working with them.
This first piece is called The Arrest. This was shot May 2024.
Special thanks to Jeremy Bronson filming, editing and being a lovely person!
