I've always wondered why people didn't just pull their boats through the swing bridges. See how smart you are. Plus you get to build up your muscles in the process. Plus maybe you could design a harness so Puddin could help you pull . . .or not. I also got to see your smiling face on NarrowboatWill.

That was another great vlog, Heidi. That drone looks impressive and Simon is a diamond for not only giving it to you, but delivering it and teaching you how to use it. That’s a fantastic thing to do. I’d often wondered how on earth single handers managed swing bridges (and lift bridges), now I know. It looks hard work though - it’s bad enough when there’s two of you and all there is to do is the bridge so I take my proverbial hat off to you 🤠
Heidi....good on yer for doing it right with the drone. BMFA is worth the price of admission , if for nowt else, the insurance. The test ain't so bad. Red tape , of which we can never get enough, eh? Just a caution about preparing to fly. I have loadsa drones, 3 of 'em are DJI Phantoms. I think the flight software has some commonality with that of the Mavic . When , if, that is , the Mavic needs this step ,be careful calibrating the compass. Mine don't like to calibrate if I stand too close to my car , the large mass of metal gives the compass a bad head . So a narrowboat may be worse as it's a big chunk of metal . Usually the calibration fails, evidenced by the sequence of flashing lights being incorrect, but to be sure, I'd step away from the boat a deal if you have any doubt. The compass can be calibrated away from the boat, and then you can launch from there , thus your home point will be set as the boat, if you can set a home point at any stage of the flight like I can with my Phantoms, you can set it right after takeoff if you wish . If the Mavic has a return to home panic button , you'll be glad you did it ,it can save the day. Also , try not to fly lower than the point where you launched from. That can spoil your day , too. BTW, henceforth your channel is known around here as 'The Puddin' show'.

I’ve got three drones that I got before they brought out the operator i.d etc and I’ve never got round to registering but I’m going to do it soon,it only costs £9 as I’m not a sports flyer it’s just for filming aerial videos

I do that in the Leeds Liverpool swing bridges but on the Macc it’s very shallow and I usually have to go though the bridge holes in neutral as my big prop picks up anything and everything so just thought it be best …. I’ll try on the next one 😄🏴☠️
Have to say I don't understand why the swing bridhes are always on the opposite side to the tow path and since they are why no mooring bollards on that side?

I love it… it has built in synthesisers … I spend hours making my own sounds… for free software it’s amazing and good for recording audio too … the EQs and built in FX are fab also 😃🏴☠️🎵

By all means go practise flying the drone from a field well away from the water. One like yours will not float though there is at least one model with a large watertight body that will.

Usually the calibration fails, evidenced by the sequence of flashing lights being incorrect, but to be sure, I'd step away from the boat a deal if you have any doubt. The compass can be calibrated away from the boat, and then you can launch from there , thus your home point will be set as the boat, if you can set a home point at any stage of the flight like I can with my Phantoms, you can set it right after takeoff if you wish . If the Mavic has a return to home panic button , you'll be glad you did it ,it can save the day. Also , try not to fly lower than the point where you launched from. That can spoil your day , too. BTW, henceforth your channel is known around here as 'The Puddin' show'.

Good luck with the drone. Don’t try to take off and land whilst your moving onboard🤪I tried it whilst a friend was steering and nearly had a disaster. You’ll get some fantastic drone shots. X

I’ve got three drones that I got before they brought out the operator i.d etc and I’ve never got round to registering but I’m going to do it soon,it only costs £9 as I’m not a sports flyer it’s just for filming aerial videos

I do that in the Leeds Liverpool swing bridges but on the Macc it’s very shallow and I usually have to go though the bridge holes in neutral as my big prop picks up anything and everything so just thought it be best …. I’ll try on the next one 😄🏴☠️

Puddin is well… he is currently back and to with the vets as he is on lots of meds so they keeping an eye on him … he is currently with Jakki as she has a car, but she is bringing him this weekend … he is staying between us both at the moment ❤️
